Misphrased that. I meant it was a decent-at-best movie. His performance was great though, but it was the only highlight in a movie made to win Oscars.
Theory of Everything was boring as hell to me, but come on...his role was not "decent at best" I'd say that about Felicity JOnes but not him by a long shot
Yep. You've got Benico, Samuel Jackson, Slyvester Stallone, Joel Edgarton, Tom Hardy, the Spotlight cast, etc...Benicio and hopefully lead actress depending on the rest. Brie Larson and Jlaw will no doubt be nominated, but don't know about the other three spots.
Damn, supporting actor this year is crowded as hell.
Honestly, Leo's biggest foe will be the hype. Everyone has expected this to be his win for so long, if the role is any less than amazing, it could tank his chances.Redmayne would have to deliver the undisputed best performance of the year for them to justify handing him two in a row. I'm talking sweeping all the precursors and leaving no shred of doubt.
Obviously I can't speak for the performances themselves as I have yet to see them, but it looks look it's Leo's to lose.
Period piece, based on a true American story, physical acting, the character having to overcome disability in the form of a bear mauling, revenge aspect with a child involved, awards pedigree, grueling and lengthy shooting experience.
It's all there. Unless the performance doesn't live up to the hype it's been receiving from early screenings, it looks like the stars have aligned.
Shenanigans. It's always shenanigans.Mara is going "Supporting" for Carol even though she is Lead. Shenanigans every year as always.
I thought Vikander is going Lead as well?

How good of an indication is this as to how the Oscars will go?

Martian is a likely nomination at this point, and Creed has a good shot if Warner gets its act together.
He's already won that twice, and quite recently, the second time. If Spotlight is going to be a major contender, as it looks to be, Screenplay is one of the most likely places people will vote for it.Eh, I'd say Tarantino's damn near a lock for Original Screenplay.
