It's more shameful it didn't win at all after three very solid turns at the VFX.

I can't get mad at BR2049's win though. Apart from being immaculate, the sheer artistry of it was also inspiring.

Second film lost to Interstellar, so I get that. First film lost to Hugo, which was stupid, but it didn't have the greatest effects imo. It wasn't until Dawn that it was just astounding.
