The Dark Knight A Fresh Joker Idea

I have not really kept up with basketball...

By the way, StorminNorman, Bettany did a great job in The DaVinci Code. I bet you are proud.

"cerebral"??

...as in psychological? internal? mental? emotional struggle? Maybe I've been reading all the wrong Hulk comics (It's the scientist guy who turns into a big green monster, right?) but that's EXACTLY what Hulk is supposed to be.
Well, on this point - I'm going to have to refer to Keyser Sushi's post - the movie was marketed as something different, and I went in with certain expectations that went unfulfilled. I thought a lot of it was very silly, and/or boring. And when Hulk was fighting the poodles, he was move-for-move the same as when Beast fought the wolves off of Beauty. Right up to the point when one of the suckers bites him in the shoulder from behind. That did it for me.

LOL. Never having seen Beauty and the Beast, I did not know that.

EDIT: And I knew it! I figured that the marketing was what had gotten you. Since you're a Spidey-type gal, and Hulk is... soemthing completely different. The ads were so misleading.

The funny thing is, most of us Hulk fans were very worried when we saw the ads, and were pleasantly surprised by the movie. ;)

I don't care how it was marketed. That's just a bad excuse. I cite people who hated Mission:Impossible 2 (an amazing film) because they "went thinking it was going to be a spy thriller and were disappointed when it was an action movie" (coughKEYSERcough) PEOPLE! THINK! IT'S A FREAKIN' JOHN WOO MOVIE!

Same story for Hulk. Think about the filmmaker. Think about the subject material....THAT will tell you what to expect. Besides, who ever LIKED a movie that they went to knowing everything that was going to happen? Jeez.

As for the Beauty and the Beast thing...relevant? Yes. Symbolic? Yes. No one EVER made a movie without being influenced by other films? Yes.

Which is why John Woo was a tragically inappropriate director for MI:2. :o

:D

I sure hope June doesn't feel like we're ganging up on her. :(

I still didn't like the movie, and it wasn't entirely because of my expectations! It was just my taste. Disliking this particular Ang Lee movie doesn't make me stupid or ignorant. I loved "Ride with the Devil". I was entertained by "Ice Storm" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". I adored "Sense and Sensibility", and have yet to see "Brokeback Mountain". BUT - I saw Hulk, and I didn't like it. I've enjoyed different approaches to superheroes and Marvel characters, but this one I didn't like.

And Keyser Sushi - lay off, please. I am a woman, and am possessed of certain flimsy feminine hormones, true, but I am capable of defending myself on the boards, and I'm hardly so sensitive as to be thrown into "damsel in distress" mode by Ronny's comment, which was hilarious, by the way.

Ease off the "White Knight" routine, and we'll do fine.

LOL. Sorry. If you notice, I defended my pal Norm when Spider-Fan83 was being a jerk to him. It's not easy sitting around watching somebody rag on people I like and respect. It has nothing to do with me thinking that you're weak, because trust me, I don't think that at all. And maybe I was overcompensating for being a jerk to you the other day. At any rate, I apologize.

As for Ronny's comment, it was indeed hilarious and I never said it wasn't. Ronny's my friend and has been for a while, and I think he knows that if I post a mad-face at him, we're still kosher. It's a guy thing. It was the funniest response I could come up with at that hour of the night.

Third, the "'White Knight' routine" as you call it, is not entirely a routine. I'm a little too old-fashioned for my own good sometimes. It's usually where I screw things up. :o If you saw the way I grew up, you'd understand.
