Been watching the 90's WWF "New Generation" and beginning of the "Attitude" era on WWE Network, coming up on the Montreal Screwjob soon. The writing and storylines were lightyears better than they are today and the wrestlers just had way bigger and more interesting personalities. Even some of the guys that were bad on the mic would be top mic guys today. Some of the greatest feuds and storylines ever. The storylines just had more detail, made logical sense and were well acted out by some of the Greatest Wrestlers ever. (My Top 5 G.O.A.T. are currently in big storylines going into Survivor Series 97 - Bret Hart, Undertaker, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels and The Rock)
Even if WWE got back to better writing, they just don't have the array of personalities, from the wrestlers to the broadcasters, everyone was so much better at making the stories important and much more believable and the stories just had way more depth and were more logically planned out.
As for current day, I think WWE is making a big mistake if they don't have Becky enter the Royal Rumble and win it. She's one of the few wrestlers in WWE today that have that big personality and believability to become a Legend in her Division, winning the Rumble in a badass fashion would take her to another level. She should lose to Asuka somehow and be a surprise entrant in the Rumble, toss a bunch of people out and talk some trash as she does it. Win and immediately declare war on Ronda for Mania.
Glad Alexa is coming back, I know alot of people don't like her but she's one of those personalities that makes feuds and storylines more interesting in the Women's Division IMO. Or at the very least, she has the potential to if the writing is solid.
Hoping the rumored match of Seth and Brock at Mania happens, he should be the face of Raw and be the next Universal Champion. He's not a huge personality but he's solid enough there, one of the best wrestlers on the Roster and he's been putting the work in for awhile.
As for AEW, meh, no one of their roster is interesting to me and I don't think they'll be a real threat to WWE, but I hope they can make enough noise to scare WWE into improving and taking more chances. The PG Era needs to end.
