It would be perfect casting.

But I'm not getting my hopes up though.

IGN has also investigated the rumor that Aaron Eckhart is now the frontrunner to win the role of Dent, but CAA has so far declined to comment on the matter.

Bearing in mind they also contacted Jamie Foxx's reps, who denied Foxx had ever been approached for the role.

I think it's likely Aaron's in talks right now, if he hasn't got the role already.

I'm really liking Eckhart as Dent but I'm trying not to get too attached. Seems like we get a different actor/actress attached to this film every week.

This sucks. He is not the best choice for the role

Eckhart is meh....FAR better choices out there, but so close to shooting i guess many of them have probably turned it down..

Why is everybody turning it down? maybe the script is bad? I don't know...

because they have to play about 4th or 5th fiddle for one whole movie before they get a chance to shine

Batman is the lead, Joker is the second lead, Gordon, Alfred, and Dent, and even whom ever the lead female is are all vying for the 3rd spot in the movie

if you where a Matt Damon or whomever, and you can command the lead in a movie that will make u a **** load of money, and you will have a decent shot at being nominated for like best actor or something like that, which would you choose?

100% percent correct and I agree....

Nolan has no luck when it comes to getting his first picks for these batman films(bale the exception)

And the damon passing is just the latest one

not all a listers want to play 4th fiddle like longshot has said.

Caine, freeman, neeson, oldman...these aren't exactly spring chicken A- listers like Damon

I like eckhart as dent i really do but i have to say that owen, pheonix, or norton(just watched the illusionist) would have really got my blood pumping

People also need to remember as well that whomever they choose to play Dent aren't just committing themselves to TDK, but the sequel as well. Finding good actors that can commit to two movies is a lot harder then just finding an actor for one I'd imagine.

^I agree, Eckhart is easily one of the best choices I've heard - I definitely think he belongs among the likes of Damon, Schrieber, Norton, and Foxx - he's just not as "popular", but he has the talent.

I didn't know that he played that biker in Erin Brokovich! You just don't recognize him I think. Can anyone give me examples of other movies with him, so that I'll be convinced that he can play the complex Harvey Dent/two-face ? :cwink:

Thank You For Smoking
He plays a chief spokesman for a tobacco company, and his job is to promote cigarettes in a time when the health hazards of the activity have become too plain to ignore.

Eckhart would rock as Dent... he looks like he came straight out of a comic book, nevermind he can act. I just hope they cast him so we finally have something resembling a final cast list.

Erin Brockovich is the film that really proves he can play likable and charming without it seeming sleazy. He really plays a lovely guy in that. :)

Erin Brockovich, Thank You For Not Smoking, The Core, Any Given Sunday, and one of my favorite movies I've seen him in, THURSDAY with Thomas Jane.

As stated before, he'd ROCK in this role.

I think that´s the right attitude. We shouldn´t get too attached or be up in arms against anyone cuz either way there´s still a good chance the guy won´t be the choice.

Unless Nolan's got an ace (or a joker ;)) up his sleeve, I'd love to have Eckhart as Dent when all is said and done. He was a revelation in THANK YOU FOR SMOKING and seriously has earned the cred to be headlining a movie like THE DARK KNIGHT. TYFS is a wide-reaching success. My little brother was the one who got me to see it and I'm usually the one who shows him movies.

THURSDAY was the first movie I ever saw him in. I've known his name since then....must've left an impression.

Eckhart is a complete bastard in The Company of Men...he is great choice for Dent...as good as Norton and Clive Owen...but I would give Owen the edge because he actually looks like the comic book version of Dent (the curly black hair)...but Eckhart will be stellar if he gets the role.
