judging by Nolan's history of unusual casting, is anyone even a little bit scared that they'll announce someone completely ridiculous? I'd hate to see another "um, I guess he can do it" cast member after Ledger

i'm hoping that Ledger is the "um-i-guess-he-can-do-it" cast member and that the rest of those still coming on board would be "born-to-play-this" actors.

Why is everybody turning it down? maybe the script is bad? I don't know...

maybe there isn't a script written to the 3rd movie and big name actors aren't willing to make such a drastic commitment for a film that will go in front of the cameras in 2010

Ekhart is a decent choice at best....DECENT.
Gyllenhaal could be a good choice....if her part isnt a huge one. I am dissapointed to hear Holmes wont be back.
I pray to the lord Freeman has time and returns.

I would be more than happy if Ekhart is casted as Dent, he is a very good actor IMO, I ever really liked him in Erin Brokovich. And he definately has the looks and the build (Apollo).

I wish Nolan would make it official lets move on the better stuff like teaser trailer, set pics or script.

Ekhart is good choice. Godd actor, he just need to beef up a little.
NO Gyllenhaal please! I would rather have Katie back and I can't really stand her!

YES, lord Freeman must return!

I must say I'm getting really doubtfull about this cast! I just konw anymore. I really hope all this rumor stuff is just bull**** and Nolan goes with someone we haven't talked about yet.

I don't think there is any need to fear for this movie.Nolan has a great history when it comes to casting.Again I've said this before Nolan has helped write the script and he is reading these guys for the parts and he knows acting wise what he wants,so just sit back and relax I don't think there is anything to be worried about.Just because you don't want Ledger to be the Joker doesn't mean he wont be totally awesome in the part.

I never said anything about Ledger. I think he can do it. And trust me know Nolan's history. I've seen all his films. I'm just a little worried because Batman is my fav and I don't what them to screw up again.

Hey guys...Long time viewer, first time poster.

You want to know what made me create an account and submit a post for the first time? I can't stand the amount of complaining about recent cast speculations and decisions made by Nolan for the next film. First, this is the same director that saved Batman from the worst state the franchise has been in since first created. Would you rather another Schumacher? Or I know, how about we make Batman: Year One where he wears a hockey mask and lives in a garage with Big Al and Little Al. That would be sweet right?

Don't you all remember the initial response from fan boys when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman or Tobey McGuire was cast as Spidey? They both turned out pretty well if you ask me...My point is Nolan knows exactly what he is doing. I bet you all didn't think Gary Oldman would be as good as he was for the part when it was first announced. Turned out to be an almost exact replica from the Year One book.

It just surprises me to see negative responses at all, knowing Nolan's history at casting roles..Pure genius. I guarantee Ledger will be amazing in the role, that whoever plays Dent/Two-Face will be great, and that the cast which Nolan assembles will be superb.

welcome to the hype, as a longtime viewer I'm sure you're aware that at the moment, given the dire lack of news, complaining is all we have

You ever notice how that doesn't work the other way around?

We can never say, "given the dire lack of complaining, news is all we have."

But I continue to dream...

Welcome to the Hype dude :)

you're right about the way fans reacted to Keaton as Bats, but during the casting days of Spiderman most approved of Maguire's casting, it was with Dunst that folks had some problems with.

....had? most fans still have a problem with her casting. and would they please let her snaggle tooth go. who cares about it really? Keira Knightley has an overbite and no one complains about that nonstop.

^ ok... has and always will have ;)

i for one dont really mind her, sure i wish MJ looked more "supermodel" like it was supposed to be in the comics, but Dunst does good work on the role so i have no complaints :).

same

ever notice that it's ALWAYS a woman in these productions that the fans lash out at and blame for any/all problems with the material? and rarely is it ever justified. Dunst in Spidey, Alba in Fantastic Four (not her fault she was miscast), Holmes in Batman Begins (again, not her fault she was miscast), Jolie for Sin City 2 (allegedly), Berry in the X-Men films, and the list goes on....

This guy signed-up to bless us out.

I like him already!

Geeks have Subconcious homo erotic feelings......

just kidding

Well casting in superhero flicks is a touchy subject.

These are our heroes, our myths like zues and apollo. We want to have our babies handled with care.

All the woman listed above are severly miscasted(i.e. can't act let alone in a superheo flick-except for jolie though she's golden)

I personally love all the hush hush about the casting however the onlt downside is that the hush hush makes it look like they are scrambling now since the news of holmes and damon's no -gos.

Jolie is golden?
not all of them are severerly miscast. most fanboys seem to fail at understanding this concept -- when adapting one material to another changes have to happen. and it is often easier to change the supportive female lead than it is to change the main character, no? it also provides less backlash.

Dunst isn't miscast as the movie's version of MJ. Jolie's not responsible for holding up Sin City 2. Berry isn't responsible for all the problems with the X-Men franchise.

stop blaming them.

and for the love of god...all of you learn this now, casted is NOT a word. :cmad:
it's also Zeus sweetie, not Zues.

Well, "we´ll see" is already better than "can´t comment on it" which is the standard don´t confirm/don´t deny answer.

Over at BOF Jett saying that he has heard a "New" name for Dent. Although he says Eckhart is still the frontrunner, hes says that this "New" guy is getting some SERIOUS consideration.
