Age of Ultron Aaron Johnson is Quicksilver - Part 2

I don't know... Falcon and War Machine are pretty fun. I liked Quicksilver, but we didn't get enough of him to get a sense of his personality or character. Too bad that might not come later in the MCU. I also like the idea of having the twins as a packaged set of characters, so it's too bad that is no longer the case. But I guess at least Wanda won't have to share her development.

Not in the movie, no, we didn´t see too much of his personality. But he is an old character that already has a lot personality... I mean 50 or so years of comic and cartoon history is quite a lot. If I didn´t know the character before the movie I might feel more indifferent about his movie-death, but as it is... Quicksilver is my fave character and I was SO happy to see him on big screen in a version that promised to be more "true to his character".
And as for Wanda... without her twin she just is not complete for me and also less interessting.

Good point about "twins" part of the character. That's another flavour he had compared to other personalities in the team.

I'm not huge comics reader, I just loved him in this film.

From my point of view, War Machine and Falcon feel like poor man's Iron Man or Cap America, I don't find them particularly interesting. With Maximoff twins it's completely other way around, I find them extremely interesting and enternatining and I loved how Taylor and Olsen portrayed them.

Plus Quicksilver's super-speed has much more potential than "guy in the suit all over again". I mean iron man with machine gun on his shoulder and guy with mechanical wings, yawn.

But man, oh man, watching QS saving those cilivians, that was so great! :drl: I really loved depiction of his super-speed as well, that bluish soft trail in the air, etc. AoU has made me Marvel fan, and then they stabbed my heart with his death, that was somewhat unnecessary, imo. :csad:

Vision + Scarlet Witch + Quicksilver + Cap + Widow =

:yay:

THIS!

War machine and Falcon are copy cat characters of characters we already have. They even share the same personality with their counterparts. So we pretty much have two Captain America's and two Iron Man's. Super lame.

Here's what I think. Since Whedon is gone now, fans could sign a petition to bring Quicksilver back. Whedon doesn't own the character, Marvel does. If there is a significant amount of people wanting to see him again, Marvel could bring him back somehow.

QS wasn't even my favorite before AOU and now I really like him. I think Whedon used the twins really well. Its a shame that he has to die before fleshing out his character. I think he might work as a main character in Inhumans because of his ties to Crystal. Or maybe Thanos can revive him to tear the Avengers apart. From the inside.

Part of me wonders if Marvel has a deal with Fox where Marvel will focus on Scarlet Witch and Fox focuses on Quicksilver.

This has been discussed several times, and the short is answer is HIGHLY unlikely.

Marvel even went as far as to retcon the twins origins so they're no longer related to Magneto and the mutants.

I get that, but also, Marvel killed off Quicksilver, and Fox doesn't seem to ever want to touch the character of Scarlet Witch.

It was Whedon's intention on killing off QS from the very beginning of the script, long before there was a QS in the X-men movies. Remember, MCU QS came first and after hearing that QS was going to be in the Avengers, Fox shoehorned their own version of QS in DoFP. QS was never originally planned to be in DoFP at all.

Singer has said that he will like to include Wanda in future X-Men movies, but he has too much of an ensemble cast to juggle around right now as it is. I think Apocalypse is Singers last X-Men movie though.

Actually, yes Quicksilver was planned for DoFP after plans for the Juggernaut weren't working, but I'm not gonna argue over who had the idea of using Quicksilver first.

Do we have any actual credible evidence of an intent to use Pietro predating Whedon's interview?

The one thing that really comes close is Whedon heavily implying in a recent interview that Fox intentionally swooped in to use him first while they were working on it, leaving he and Marvel very unhappy.

That does sound pretty typical for Fox, yeah.

Whedon shot his wad too quickly. We didn't get to really know Pietro all that much before he took those bullets. Also, he doesn't seem as fast as FOX's version.

Maybe spoiler for Apocalypse: I think their Quicksilver is going to die. He's not in the future in DoFP, so...

What? That doesn't mean he isn't alive living somewhere outside the mansion. Or they just showed ot people and left out him.

I'm not sure what you're saying with the last part...

But... Anyways, I've heard speculation that is backed by watching the trailer. We see the mansion getting demolished, and it appears as if Pietro is inside the mansion, possibly trying to save people. And, like MCU Pietro, succeeds in saving others, but not himself. It's a solid guess. He's pretty OP. I doubt he'll make it to the final showdown. It'd be too scene-stealing of him to be against Apocalypse in the end fight, me thinks. Unless he's nullified somehow. But yea, me thinks it's pretty telling that he will not make it out of this movie alive.

Or maybe the mansion explosion just cripples him in some manner....

I still wish they would've thrown him in Helen Cho's machine and saved him. :funny:

Way late to the discussion but I found it odd that Hill commented on QS having accelerated metabolism and healing properties. Has me wondering if that was to leave the door open to him actually being alive and Wanda just doesn't know.

All so he could tick his death box and give us one more ****** quip.

If half of the universe Thanos destroyed can come back in Avengers 4, QS can also come back !
