Well there have been speculation that a dick grayson character might surface in the nolan universe of batman. But if there were to be a dick grayson character should he become robin or nightwing?

Well perhaps if dick grayson was introduced to the franchise he would be introduced as a abandoned ophan in his teens, maybe 16 or something like that.

And while duck grayson was little, maybe 6 or 7, he runs into a bruce wayne (in his teens) and they discuss there losses, bruce knowing that dick is a orphan that lost his parents to the mob. They discuss how gotham can be saved and how both of them will avenge there parents death. So dick (a child) and bruce (a teenager) become somewhat friends with tensions and differences. Then Bruce suddenly leaves gotham without anyone knowing (Batman Begins). And then years later after bruce had returned and had become the dark knight, batman is in a footrace to catch a thug that escaped the asylum. And then batman is about to catch the thug, when suddenly someone jumps from the rooftop and topples the thug, that someone is Nightwing. Nightwing then introduces himself to batman saying "hello bruce". Nightwing knew that bruce had become batman from their talks in the past about catching the criminals one day. Batman says "how do you know who i am?" Nightwing responds "oh bruce, you dont remember little old me, how many abandoned orphans do you run into when your young huh bruce?". Then bruce (batman) says "Dick?"
Nightwing says "in the flesh, you didnt think id survive in the narrows did you? Well people also didnt think bruce wayne wouldnt come back after 7 years".

I like your idea DCNightwing23 but shouldn't he be Robin first or should Dick only become Nightwing and not Robin. I always thought Dick Grayson became Robin with the colofrul costum with the R on it and later when he grows up he becomes Nightwing.

I want see Robin(Dick Grayson)in full Robin costume with the R on it and cape and all but give him the all red costume Tim Drake currently wears.

I first got into Batman when I was 6 years old in 1978 when I saw Batman for the first time in The New Adventures of Batman with Adam West as the voice of Batman and Burt Ward as the voice of Robin. They would go off on their advnetures with the help of Batmite a creature from another dimension. I use to love their adventures as they hopped into the Batmobile,Batplane,Batcopter and Batboat and battled the Joker,the Penguin,Mr.Freeze etc.. My favorite episode was He Who laughs last where The Joker takes Robin hostage in a boxcar and Robin gets out with a laser in his utility belt.

I used to love Batman and Robin's colorful costumes. Batman with his dark blue cape and cowl,boots,gloves and shorts with his grey sweater with the Bat logo on it and Robin with his yellow cape,red and green shirt with the R on it and green shorts and ankle boots. And of course I loved their vehicles Batmobile,Batplane,Batboat etc. I also loved the other cartoon from years earlier with Olan Soule as the voice of Batman and Casey Kasem as the voice of Robin. My favorite Batvillians were The Joker,The Penguin,The Riddler,Mr.Freeze and Catwoman.

I got my first two Batman comics around that time when I was 6 or 7 and I thought they were interesting. One was Detective Comics #476:The Sign of the Joker and the other was Batman #323 and had Catwoman. I liked them but they were kind of weird because Robin wasn't in it and they were darker than the Batman cartoons I watched.

As I got older I got into the Batman TV live action series with Adam West and Burt Ward. I loved it of course and I started getting into the Batman comics and I collected the ones from the 60's and any Batman comics with or without Robin. I liked the ones where Robin was with Batman of course because it reminded me of the Batman cartoons I watched as a little kid. I also learned Batman's(Bruce Wayne's) tragic background where he lost his parents to a mugger named Joe Chill who shot them with a gun and Robin(Dick Grayson's)tragic background where he lost his parents when he was a circus acrobat to a gangster named Boss Zucco when the wires broke and his parents fell straight to the ground killing them instantly. So i got into the darker more serious Batman ever since but I always thought it was fun when Robin was with Batman especially when Dick came home from University sometimes because he makes him feel like a father figure and provides light into Batman's grim world. And recently I liked Tim Drake as Robin especially his updated Robin costume with the new R and his recent all red Robin suit. Robin(Tim Drake) is a smart computer expert and detective but I always liked Dick Grayson as Robin the same way I thought Sean Connery was the best 007. And of course I liked Chris O'Donnell as Robin in Batman Forever and Robin in Batman:The Animated Series from the 90's where he was a smart hero and not the holy this,holy that character from the original 60's TV show.

My point of how I got into Batman is I want to see the cartoons I liked into the current Batman movies. I know they should be darker like Batman was first created and Chris Nolan and Christian Bale are doing a good job of bringing the Batman franchise back to the big screen but I always thought Batman was more entertaining when Robin was with him and I think Robin could be in a future Batfilm and updated not just with the current all red costume but physocogically like Batman too and have Robin(Dick Grayason) be a computer expert and smart detective and I hope it will happen if not a third Batman then a fourth possibly coming out summer 2014 the 75th anniversary of the greatest DarkKnight Detective in history.

Please note, I'm not judging your idea. But don't repost it ad nauseum unless you're adding something genuinely new.

Ron - while I do find your idea for Robin's introduction to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Batman's first publication (it might be a better one to have it coincide with Robin's first introduction), I would hope that isn't your only contribution to this thread (and the Year Two reference, which has been posted before).

Essentially, I'm just asking for your opinion regarding Robin, how he should be introduced, how old he should be, etc. You could even write some script for it if you want (or you could just outline your idea like DCnightwing).

Sorry to sound like a condescending jerk, but I would like to hear your ideas regarding Robin, and it is the proper purpose of this thread.

Wellsy I guess you think that a Batman film with Robin(Dick Grayson)should come out in 2015(the 75th anniversary of Robin's debut in Detective Comics #38 in 1940). I would have preferred 2014(the 75th anniversary of Batman's debut in Detective Comics #27 in 1939)since a Batman film has been coming out every three years.

In that case maybe Robin should be introduced in the third film which if it came out in 2010(It would mark the 70th anniversary of Robin's debut).

I think some people are overthinking it, let´s just keep it simple if Nolan is to introduce Robin into the Bat movies, take some inspiration from Dark Victory;

Dick Grayson, aged 14/15 (any older and it´ll make his possible transition to Nightwing (Which we won´t see.) pointless.), loses his acrobatic parents to Tony Zucco, Gotham´s new gangster fighting a war with Two-Face´s gang. Now, Bruce sees himself in the boy and decides to take him in, for most of the movie Dick sould be in a confused and depressive state, as well as rebilious, until Bruce reveals his identity to Dick.

Then, the father/son relationship begins, Bruce becomes what his father was to him, as well as Ducard/Ra´s, a father figure. Training Dick but not letting him try on the costume, while the main plot of the movie goes on, Dick decides that he needs to become his own person, stealing some of Bruce´s equipment and modeling it after his parents, he modifies a mask and carves an R into it. Putting on the costume he rushes to the scene to help Batman on his fight, he arrives just in time to save Bruce´s life.

Now, all you need is to cast an unknown, and decent actor for this role, give him sone acrobatic lessons, some old comic books, and then you´ll have a decent Dick Grayson/Robin.

I like the idea of Robin being in a street gang. It makes a lot more sense for fighting crime than being in hte circus. It also gives bruce an additional reason to take him in, to keep him out of trouble.

The trouble with most of the Robin stories I see though is the "Robin is taken into bruces home, then finds out he's batman" part. No matter how you slice it it doesent make sense for a guy with pretty much the biggest secret in the world that he does every single night and probably spends most days in bed having his injuries treated and fixing the batmobile to take in a kid into his home and not expect him to find out.

I think the best way to do Robin would do have him as a wannabie vigilante. Batman keeps running into and this kid also avenging his parants death with pretty good fighting skills and ingenuitiy but who is probably going to get himself killed real soon. At first he just tells him to go home but eventually he realises that

a)This kid is going to do it either with or without him
b)He doesent really have a right to tell this kid NOT to avenge his parants death while he goes out and does the same thing.
c)He has the potential to be a better crimefighter than he does. I mean, Batman started training at 20 or so, how would he be If he'd started at 15?

So he takes him in. Not as a "partner" as in both beating up the thugs together. But more as an apprentice and occasional scout. His role is to train, act as housekeeper for the batcave(Being an apprentice in any job typically involves more mundane stuff than anything) and watch and learn from a distance when Batmans out on patrol with the promise that when he's ready he can go after his parants killers.

I think Robin is a perfectly adaptable character in the Nolan-verse. If he's treated with a degree of gravity and seriousness, he's a perfect addition. The light to Batman's dark. He also improves, greatly the writing of Batman, whose typically devoid of a sense of humor. Robin fills that gap.

If Nolan and Co. don't want to do Robin, I'd say they're making a mistake. Robin is essentially to Batman's characters development when you think about it, because he's someone Batman tries to save and lead away from the path of venegence. When the student effectively becomes the master. Furthermore, Robin CAN fit in the Nolan-verse. Nolan's verse is not realistic, it only appears to be at times. For that reason as long as they treat Robin realistically, I see no reason why it can't work.

One of my favorite aspects of the Batman character and evolution is that he eventually does form his own make-shift family. Now while I would like to see this down the line, this trilogy is about Batman's beginnings so it's a tad early for all of that. I would like to see the beginning of the Robin character though. Robin should start being developed a little after Gordon becomes commissioner.

I think the fourth Batman movie should be called The Dynamic Duo since this current Batfilm is called The Dark Knight. The Dynamic Duo would totally focus on Batman and Robin's relationship. It should be based on the Dark Victory comic series.

Hell, Batman: Guardian sounds better than The Dynamic Duo. I like Batman: Legacy though. I'm kind of partial to Robin Begins but there are so many things wrong with that title. It's just a blatant ripoff and so unoriginal and the focus would be on Robin instead of Batman and all.

Dynamic Duo brings images of the Adam West series. If they continued the series I wish they would kind of name them similar to the comics like Knightfall or just simply Dark Victory. If TDK is successful they will learn that it isn't as necessary to remind people its a Batman movie in the title.
