After Nolan's BATMAN trilogy... - Part 1

Everybody start singing:

"If you leave me Nolan, you take away the greatest franchise from me... ooooohhh oohhh ooooooohhhhhhh now Nolan please make more."

Keep singing.

Their could easily be another Batman but Nolan doesn't want to make a new one.

I love TDKR&the trilogy But it has ended and it did with a bang,WB has confirmed a reboot and I personally can't wait!!

I want a new director with a new vision for batman.

Tony Gilroy
JJ Abrams

Nolan's story is done. No one should continue his entry. I'm sure the new series will be different, just like the 90's Batman films were different than the Nolanverse, but we need a new vision to reinterpret Batman. A Bat Family story, maybe? A fresh start. I think seeing new people reinterpreting Batman from scratch is more interesting than someone compromising their vision to fit Nolan's.

Nolan was awesome, but his vision of Batman was a complete story that ended. All we should do is wait for another visionary to start from scratch without worrying about the continuity.

A Bat Family story would be awesome and is one of my hopes for the reboot,I want a middle-aged Bruce/Batman who has been operating for many years,Dick Greyson had been adopted&been Robin(shown in flashbacks)But is now an young adult&Nightwing,Barbara Gordon had been Batwoman for a while But is now Oracle,Alfred is around the same age as Cain in the Nolan Trilogy

Joker has been a main villain to Batman over the years But is now in Arkham Asylum and does a cameo in the film with Harley as his new psychiatrist,I want a new villain on film for the reboot's first firm..Hush/Black Mask or Deadshot

I'd prefer Batman taking in Grayson being the first movie, then have Dick distancing himself from Bruce being at the start of the second. He'll take in Jason Todd, train him to be a replacement for Dick...only for the Joker to kill him in the second, with Tim Drake appearing in the third.

As for Batgirl, also introduce Barbara in the first as Dick's gf, then have her become Batgirl in the second...only to be shot by the Joker, and become the Oracle in the third.

The reason I say show it all happening is to have a strong impact on the audience. They need to see it happen, see how horrible it is for these characters, the devastation unfold. That's the power of film making, and I don't think it's a good idea to just overlook all that intensity and assume that the audience knows what's happening. After the Dark Knight Rises, it's clear that there can be an ensemble Batman film. If anything, I prefer an ensemble cast to a straight up Bruce Wayne movie.

...and yes! Joker idea is a yes!

I want a new batman villain that hasnt been used for another trilogy, no origins. Time for reality to step aside, time for fantasy batman to come back. Just dont follow schumachers formula.

New Villains i want to see.

Clayface
Killer Croc
Man-Bat
Deadshot

Yes, to all this.

What I don't want to see and fear is that the studios will want to make a 4th film seeing that the franchise is a success and Nolan declines to return. So then, the execs and studios turn to a new director that takes the Bale Batman into the world of fantasy or less-realistic villains because they want to make as much profit as they can from merchandising and appealing to broader audiences.

It has been done before. I hope they don't do this.

I just saw TDKR.

It was an excellent movie...

...BUT I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF CHRISTOPHER NOLAN! NO MORE REALISM FOR FUTURE BATMAN FILMS! IT'S TOO MUCH!!!

Ditto that.

Thank you Nolan. Now, let's move on to a new interpretation.

I'd love to see the more fantastical elements of the Batman mythos in future films like Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, Clayface, Man-bat and others. Batman has one of the best rouges gallery in comics and its a shame IMO to not fully utilize it.

I've seen a lot of people say they want to bring in the "fantasy" villains. Personally I would love to see Killer Croc on an IMAX screen. But the problem, in my opinion, is that its hard to deal with "fantasy" without it becoming a comedy. Clooney's batman comes to mind. I guess that is why Nolan's realistic batman worked for me. That is just my fear.

If they do do a reboot I agree with getting new villains but you know their is no way that they will not include the joker. I think a cool villain would be the Riddler. He requires Batman to utilize his detective side as opposed to brute force, the Riddler strikes me as the ultimate terrorist. Maybe that is just because I liked Nolan's realism.

You can still make a fantasy batman without turning it into a toy commercial. What i would take from nolans batman is his vision of gotham city by not making it all look like it was done in a studio set much like burton and schumacher.

It's going to be fantasy oriented again, since it'll be connected to the JL movie.

I have a question (and I'm sure I've done this too): Why do we keep saying "fantasy" when we really mean "sci-fi"?

Well Batman has a bit of both worlds, although there isn't alot of "magic" there is some in the mythos. But yeah I suppose sci-fi could be a more realistic term.

I don't think people would have a hard time taking the more fantastical villains seriously, anymore than they had a hard time taking guys like the Red Skull or Loki seriously. The key is that the *creators* have to take them seriously: actor, writer, director.

Which gives me a thought: John Noble as Victor Freeze. If you want to get audiences in the appropriate pulp fantasy mood? Cast a strong actor as Mr Freeze, and make them watch 'Heart of Ice' ten times in a row.

I really just want a director who has his own unique vision of Batman, vs one who will give us "Diet Nolan."

I've noticed that some people are saying to keep the realism for the reboot while others are saying to focus on the sci-fi/fantasy stuff. I personally would like to see a reboot that can do both and integrate them perfectly. There is no reason why a Batman movie can't do grounded crime drama stuff while still having a lot of sci-fi and fantasy elements. Batman TAS and The Long Halloween are the best examples of this being done perfectly.

It COULD, potentially. It's a pretty popular storyline, and it's got some of the best writing seen in years.

It's definitely a good way to introduce Grayson too. They'd just change the character to being younger and have Bruce rescue him from being recruited by thw Court of Owls before trainjng him as Robin. It could provide a decent excuse for a younger Robin too.

Thats a good way of putting it. I really, REALLY don't want Batman in a Marvel toned movie or have Catwoman cartwheeling down the street like in the Burton movies.

IMO pseudo realistic works. Can you imagine a 28 Days Later type movie with Batman in it? Just have people infected by Poison Ivy's serum.

One thing I would like to see in future Batman movies is smaller and more intricate stories. Every movie doesn't have to be about Gothem in danger again. Going grand scale every time takes away the grand.

Loved the Nolan movies but IMO the best Batman is still The Animated Series. They had that realistic tone without turning Batman into the 60's show with more black.

If they're going to bring in Dick Grayson as Robin, they have to give him an origin different from the one in the comics. Do any of you know anyone that has a big interest in the circus? It's a dying attraction. It's still around but nowhere as popular as before and is more popular in less urban areas. It wouldn't be believable that one of the richest billionaires in the whole world would go watch your standard circus in the 21st century. His origin is so dated it's ridiculous. I know many will disagree with me but I wouldn't mind if they gave him a completely different origin in the reboot. Or if they have him already established as Nightwing and just skip to Tim Drake (who is the best Robin IMO).
