Justice League Dark - Part 1

Detective Chimp is better for Shaowpact, not Justice League Dark. But there's no reason you couldn't make that character work. if you can make Rocket Raccoon work, you can do Detective Chimp.
As someone who's never read Shadowpact, what's really the difference? I tend to see them treated as relatively interchangable concepts, so I'm curious.

I meant to post those the other day. Gorgeous art done by one of my faves.

So, word on the street is that HBO's "Lantern" will be TVMA. Which is great news for this show, because presumably we no longer have to worry about getting a censored, watered-down take on JLD. We should be able to rest safe on getting a chain-smoking Constantine cussing up a storm with (hopefully) Detective Chimp.

It didn't help Titans.

Titans never made sense to be TVMA to begin with, IMO. And HBO has a much higher standard of quality and production value than DC Universe had. I don't think we need to worry about getting a Titans redux.

Lantern doesn't need to be TVMA to begin with either.

Justice League Dark? Nope. Now, if you're making a pure Constantine/Hellblazer type series, then yes, it definitely makes more sense.

I don't think Lantern needs to be TVMA either, but I'm not complaining if it means Guy can say whatever he wants. MA doesn't inherently mean it's going to be Game of Thrones, either. It's mostly just giving a show the freedom to do what they want without worry of censorship. And sometimes boils down to just a matter of "mature themes."

But JLD? I'd have very little interest in a PG-13 JLD. You say that Constantine/Hellblazer should be TVMA, but its the same character in both shows. I don't want to get a sanitized Constantine just because he's on a team. And I want the horror to be able to go as far as the team wants to take it.

The Constantine in the revamped new 52 was more sanitized. There's no getting around it. They made him into a superhero and had him leading a Justice League for crying out loud. Pre-New 52, Constantine would never and had never done that.

To be fair though that show seems to be the exception more than the rule. How is it the DCU can produce masterpieces like Doom Patrol and Stargirl (Swamp Thing was top tier too), yet give us a mediocre show based on one of DC’s biggest brands!?

They made it a pile of TV-MA edgelord garbage and made everyone in it unlikable jerks. Confused dark, violence, gritty for maturity.

I’m not adverse to TV-MA for most of these properties, but Titans always felt like a strange tone. I hated foul mouthed Dick Grayson.

I can go either way with JLD. But I would say that keeping it similar to Swamp Thing in terms of tone and gore would make most sense.

And call me crazy, but I’d rather not have Constantine on the team. I’d rather he be someone that they consult often, but who they cannot trust (he is a trickster after all) enough to have him a Full fledged member.

Easy: lack of any central creative direction or plan. Live by auteur sensibilities, die by auteur sensibilities. Granted, "let each showrunner do their own thing" is still a net plus if the central people in charge themselves are incapable of putting together a coherent overarching plan that is actually good.

Tuppence Middleton for Zatanna pls.

The script to this is online to anyone who's interested. Can't post it here, but you can find it.

Aaron Paul for Deadman pls.

Are there even news on this project or is it totally dead?

As a movie? Probably.

Right now, it seems like Bad Robot is doing a sort of Avengers/Defenders build-up to the team event with separate projects for each of the characters.
