Agent Carter Agent Carter General Discussion Thread - Part 1

I love that Madame Masque is being used! Let's be honest, when was she going to be used in the Iron Man series? Probably pretty far down the list, but here, she can be well showcased!

I disagree. She's a major IM villain that lends herself to great story potential. Considering how Iron Man's rogues gallery is pretty weak overall, I would think she is someone they'd use sooner rather than latter.

That is why I'm a little disappointed to see the character used here.

I'm skeptical of Iron Man films in general in the future, though, which is why I'm not as bothered. If they had any Phase Three plans, I'd agree.

I preferred Madame Masque best as Kate Bishop's foil and since they don't seem to have plans to have Kate Bishop ever, this is a nice substitute.

Balls, I had no idea AC had started airing here in Ireland last week, missed the first 2 eps. Ep 3 starts is about half an hour.

EDIT: Even better, it's being aired back-to-back episodes each week, so this evening it's Eps 3 & 4.

I think they'll continue the franchise at some point since its been Marvel's most successful one after the Avengers. I figure the reason why they didn't include IM4 in Phase 3 is due to Marvel wanting to introduce new characters, as well as maybe figuring that they'll get more bang for their buck by including Iron Man in ensemble films instead due to RDJ's large fee. Regardless, I think its largely a question of when and whether or not RDJ will do it.

Hayley Atwell confirms: Agent Carter season 2 filming begins!

The Agent Carter vs. AOS DubSmash War for Charity starts today!

I'm listening to the marvel podcast right now. Apparently Whitney Frost will not be called Madame Masque and for the most part won't have her face covered, but she will somehow still stay true to the character.

I'm game to see how they pull it off. I'm sure that whatever they come up with for her depiction will be very cool. They've got a strong writing team, so I'm sure Masque will be awesome.

It's really neat to think that early next year is going to be a big moment for big-name comic book villains appearing on live-action TV. On the DC side, we've got Vandal Savage appearing on Legends of Tomorrow, and on the Marvel side, we've got Madame Masque appearing on Agent Carter. It's gonna be quite a TV season.

Cool. But be careful Peggy, dating your boss can lead to "complications." ;)

Probably the best choice they could have made since it would have been a mistake for them to make Thompson the new chief.

I'm surprised it wasn't Thompson. He seemed the logical choice.

Maybe Thompson alienated too many of his co-workers with his arrogance and unchecked ambition, and thus he wasn't able to function effectively as a leader. That sort of thing happens a lot in real life. And Sousa seems to have better people skills, so I can see him stepping into a leadership role if Thompson faltered.

I'm not a fan of them using Madame Masque either. She'd make for a great villain in a future IM film, so I disapprove. I hope at the very least they create their own version, but I'm not counting on it.

I tend to agree since she's my favorite Iron Man villain. But there is a way to sort of have it both ways, I think. Madame Masque actually has 2 names. She's got the Whitney Frost name due to her adoption and she's got her natural born name as Giulietta Nefaria, Count Luchino Nefaria's daughter.

We know the MCU changes things sometimes. Why not make Madame Masque a legacy character(as so many of Iron Man's enemies are already...just traditionally not her) so you could have the original as Whitney Frost in AC season 2 and save Giulietta Nefaria as the 2nd Madame Masque in a future Iron Man film.

I think that could be an appropriate compromise.

It seems more like it should be the other way round since Tony had the romance with Whitney Frost, or at least that's how he knew her. Of course, in Iron Man #116 there was that whole battle with Nefaria's Ani-Men, and that's how Masque and Iron Man finally parted ways because he accidentally ended up killing her father.

I'm not sure how that version of Nefaria would fit in with the Count Nefaria who battles the Avengers though. Maybe they could make it her grandfather instead, and let a younger version be the Avengers foe.

Well, that assumes that promotions are based on merit, which is an unduly optimistic view of the world ;)

She won't even ever be called "madame masque" on the show, nor will she have a golden mask. So you can still have Giulietta as "the" Madame Masque in the movies.

Well then I have to question the idea to use her at all. What's the point? They could just make someone up entirely new then.
