Agent Carter Agent Carter General Discussion Thread - Part 1

I thought Hayley said that in subsequent seasons it could potentially time jump several decades into the 50s, 60s, 70s etc. She would have to be part of SHIELD by then.

Which year did it say the One Shot was set?
The One-Shot is set one year after Cap's plane takes the nosedive into the Atlantic.

I'm not sure the skipping forward a decade every season thing was ever said by any one involved in making the show... just something that we've been speculating will be really cool.

The showrunners did say that they would jump forward one year if they were making a second season.

I wonder if later seasons will be longer. 8 episodes seems short, but I'd rather a tight 8 episodes than stretching the show beyond its limits. Particularly as this seems to be heavily serialized, whereas SHIELD has more story-of-the-weeks.

If they intend have it continue to be a "fill-in" series (for lack of a better term) while SHIELD is on it's winter break, I don't see them having much more than 8 episodes a season, they might up it to 9 or 10 or so and put off starting up with SHIELD's back half by a couple weeks, but I don't think much more than that.

Season 1, I believe. As of now, I don't believe they've planned season 2 in any concrete manner. I believe what the showrunners said was that (I'm paraphrasing) they were going to put this out there and if the people like it, they'll make another season set in 1947, i.e. one year later.

So, I see the timeline as: Season 1 --> One-Shot --> Season 2... and so on.

I don't think it would make too much sense to have (say) 4 or 5 seasons of Peggy Carter doing grunt work for her SSR bosses.

Going into season 2 with Peggy Carter running a fledgling SHIELD organization would be a good way to freshen things up for the show and would also nicely portray Peggy's character evolution.
Yeah I can see that too. The One-Shot isn't exact on date anywhere IN the piece, except that it's apparent the SSR is ending and Stark is beginning something new. At this point in the show there's no hint the SSR is about to close up shop yet.

I hope it goes full series. I'd LOVE to see Agent Carter during the summer and AoS in the winter. :D

Made a poster with a border. Full sizes are in the Fan art thread.

I don't think they've planned for this to be an "actual" series.Of course,if it's a runaway hit, they'll continue on,but I don't think they came to the project with a "5 season" plan or anything.

I don't know. Hayley Atwell seems to talk about it as if she foresees several season spanning several decades.

The beauty of making it a miniseries is if it doesnt work,
ABC can say it was a miniseries that was never intended to go any further.

They need to coordinate it so that there's never a break at any point. As soon as one series goes on hiatus, another one takes over.

Marvel: "Reruns?! We dont need no stinkin reruns!!"

I don't know if I missed this in any of the topics but ABC is re-airing the first two episodes on Saturday, 8-10pm EST.

The One Shot is a year after The First Avenger, so 1946. It's apparently about 10 months after Peggy and the Howling Commandos captured Kraken, the Obelisk and the dead Kree.

In that (about) 10 month time period, Agent Carter went from leading troops for SSR with Howard in charge...to Carter being marginalized after the war with Howard no longer being with SSR and in fact being hunted by them...to Carter quitting to run SHIELD with Howard back in charge of SSR (and a new boss at the office over Peggy before she quit). Lots going down pretty quickly.

That was why I was a bit confused on how things were working out. I ended up going to another website and the helpful people there cleared things up for me really quickly.

Yeah I rewatched it, it does say a year after. Still tho, they can have alittle filler between First Avenger and the one-shot which the show can be on NOW to set up the dispersing of the SSR and the start of SHIELD.

I liked it...it works for me and nice seeing Atwell again. :) There were moments where I felt bad for her especially when she took a look at Rogers's old pic in his file that was stored away.

It would be cool if they can get Tommy Lee Jones to have some kinda involvement in the show. They seemed to have made him an important part of of SHIELD's background, but I doubt we'll ever see anything other than stock footage of him.
