Doesn't rule out Zzzax at all, and I wish to god they *would* make the connection; but I just don't have any faith in the showrunners in making the comic-book connection. The strategy so far has been to make this a generic-super-of-the-week show. Not only are they too scared to pick and choose from an incredibly vast array of Marvel Comics characters, but they also refuse to develop any of their own from-scratch made-for-TV supers for more than one episode.
It's just one great bigafter another with these guys.
Eh, give it time. The ending of epidode 5 leads me to believe they'll start bringing in more comic book concepts (one episode after we're told psychic powers don't exist in the MCU we essentially get told that's bs). I have a feeling that they're starting slow so that it actually means something when we get a full blown comic style story arc later. There has actually been a comic book cameo in every episode except the fourth one, and that one teased the Skrulls (We're told that the equation seen in the episode could be alien, and part of it is actually in the Skrull alphabet from the comics).
