I doubt May is Skye's mom. Why would she do Skye's love interest then?

I noticed that! I love it when Easter Eggs serve a purpose. Maybe there's implanted memories or something. It's so intriguing!

Who said they did it? Who said Ward was Skye's love interest? They may have went in the hotel with alcohol and just talked. Anything is possible! :argh:

I'll admit, I'm quite disappointed that the story didn't tie into TDW at all (aside from the brief opening). Anyway, nice to see some more actual "super hero" action. That's what I've wanted from this show and it gave it to us... in spades. Definitely the most "comic booky" episode so far and I loved this episode for that.

Yeahhh suuuuuuurrre. They just "talked". With a cast that attractive, there's no doubt going to be a lot of "talking". It's kind of expected.

Anyone can tell from the pilot onward that Skye and Ward are clearly heading to go for a "talk". Those two are clearly meant for each other. He's the tough hardcase with an emotional past, she's the ditzy bubbly new girl who wears her heart on her sleeve who's stuck with the guy and eventually gets him later. Those are the type of tropes which are practically the recipe for a romantic comedy. The question now is: Will they or won't they "talk"?

Yeah, the tie-in wasn't good. I was hoping they'd go catch that creature from the end-credit scene that's STILL unaccounted for in London.

Tahiti is a magical (terrifying) place for Son of Coul. I need to know all about it!!

It's cool that they had an actual Asgardian show up. The closest thing we've had to a comic book character in a couple of weeks. Next week's episode looks interesting as well. Any ideas as to who the blonde girl is?

I guess Victoria Hand and Jasper Sitwell appearing in last week's episode doesn't count for you?

I like how the Asgardian dude was merely a lowly mason. Not every Asgardian belongs to the royal court.

I liked that too.

I guess tonight's episode officially makes Thor the most talked about Avenger within this series so far. I'm assuming Captain America will be next when we get closer to Winter Soldier.

I don't think May is Skye's mom. She might have killed Skye's mom though.

Really good episode, still some really fx though. I guess I should get used to that but some of them are so bad. Like mid-90's bad.

"I wish we could cut him open a wee bit..." Yikes! Simmons is like the doctor from XCOM. "Ve need more alien bodies for my experiments, commander!"

Also the park ranger being interviewed....eesh. Bad acting. Bad!

Looking forward to next week, things are looking up.

Great episode. I like that Ward's armor cracked a little bit. The flashbacks make his whole protection and punishment speech from FZZZT make a little more sense.

Good episode. One of my favorites so far. The humor worked alot better for the characters this ep imo.

No, you missed the point of that ranger----he was supposed to be a wuss!
Instead of being a tough cop or stoic Nordic type--he was pretty much babbling like a little girl. LOL.
Next time look at Coulson's face----he was like, "This guy is sad."
Those two guys were comic relief--when they hear the tree fall they cut to them cleaning the sign with little rags! LOL.

"We better check that out." Right instead of scrubbing the sign like housekeepers.

If there was one thing that tonight's episode really established for me in terms of wanting to see happen at some point within the tenure of the series, it's definitely for the group to have the chance in meeting ONE of the Avengers at some point on-screen.

And while I know it'll never happen, it would be priceless to see everyone's reactions if they were allowed to travel to Asgard.

Excellent episode. Best of the series thus far. Love that the show's getting progressively better.

The one (minor) complaint I had was that the events of Thor 2 didn't really affect the plot. From the first 3-4 minutes, I think they tried, but had their coordination (in terms of fleshing out a fully integrated story) off by a bit. So they decided to use the events of Thor 2 as a backdrop to tell their own Asgard-themed story. It actually worked well, but I think with a little more planning they could have tied it into some actual story elements from Thor 2.

Other than that, I absolutely loved the following:

* Nice character development all around. Ward and even Skye, who are the weakest links in the cast, have gone from near-unwatchable and unwatchable respectively to more-than-tolerable.

* Loved loved loved Peter MacNicol in this... Asgardian mason / Earthling saint. Very effective reveal... was really (pleasantly) surprised that. Really looking forward to his subsequent MCU appearances.

* Excellent, universe-building connective tissue. I feel like they finally executed on the potential of the MCU by bringing the larger universe into an episode's plot in a substantial manner rather than beating the audience over the head with forced/unnecessary MCU references... which were annoyingly abundant in the early episodes.

* Humor was good as it flowed from clever writing rather than prepubescent goofiness.

That was a cool episode. One of the coolest in the past few weeks. The character development is starting to show up which I like. The May/Ward thing at the end threw me a bit, but I feel like they're "bros" so nothing steamy will come of that.

Also, on a personal opinion, they're dragging the "what really happened to Coulson" thing too far. I'd rather get a cool hint every few episodes with little attention paid to it in between rather than a bunch of little, seemingly pointless hints. The former suggestion would build up the suspense more I think.

Last week, episode 7: Jasper Sitwell and Victoria Hand are comicbook character.

just saw the episode. loved it, I mean I LOVED it! Peter MacNicol better than ever. Now if I just could get Barry White out of my head...

Yay! I'm loving all the positive reactions to this episode!! I was really getting tired of people ****ing and moaning after every episode.

Anyway, I'll add to my earlier translations on the Berserker Staff. In addition to "INSPIRE", "RAGE" and "FIGHT" that I saw earlier, it also says "POWER." I think there is one more word that there isn't a clear shot of, but that word might just be "power" a second time.

Also, I liked that they *almost* said the Berserker Staff was made out of Uru. They described the staff as an otherworldly metal with strange properties. Of course, these Midgardians wouldn't know to call it Uru, so I'll still count it as a reference. :yay: (Speaking of Marvel Metals... vibranium!)

This episode, I like it! :more: Another!

I know the rating are "low" or whatever but do those ratings take in the fact of those who DVR or later on On Demand type stuff? Cause wasn't the first episodes rating like 12 mil live then like 20 mil total? Either way those who bounced are missing out, I think this show is getting better all around week by week.

According to the ratings FAQ at spoiler TV the DVR rantings don't count for renewal as people don't watch the commercials and so the show doesn't get paid for them.

Ah I see thanks for that, but be that as it may I'm willing to bet in today's day and age with the technology we have that many dont watch live and turn to either DVR, On Demand, or downloading eps online with torrents. So some popularity could go unnoticed or unaccounted for due to those outlets. I'm usually bad at catching shows when they air and would almost always find them online to watch a few hours later back when my computer was working.

With that being said I'm curious to see if the Thor name dropping before the episode helped the ratings, my guess would be yes but nothing too crazy.

I don't think she's her mom either, but it's not like Ward and Skye are dating. May can screw whoever is willing to engage in screwual activity with her.

When I saw that May and Ward thing at the end I thought NO WAY! :wow:
Then I thought they are going to have some angry sex. :woot:

That's what's implied, of course, but several things:

1) They *might* not have had any sex at all. Both of them have a lot to talk about and share after berserking, so it could've been just an invitation to a very private conversation.
2) Skye doesn't own Ward (yet). Although the pseudo-date in the bar is the closest they've got so far. Skye was definitely offering; Ward turned her down and went after May instead.
3) That being said, Skye didn't see Ward go into May's room. Woulda been all kinds of interesting if she had.

For the ending scene, I was expecting Coulson to have a nightmare about Loki stabbing him with his staff.

Now i know where i saw that professor dude before. the dr from Ghostbusters 2!
Yeah, to me though he'll always be Larry Fleinhardt from Numb3rs (dang I miss that show)

All in all, I really loved the episode. I think Frakes did (as always) a FANTASTIC job. I loved the opening with them picking up the aftermath of TDW, Coulson's frustration at Asgardians leaving a mess behind and transitioning into their own Asgardian based story. Loved seeing a peek into why Ward is always so focused all the time. Melinda May, as always, badass. Can't wait to watch the episode again :)

Really enjoyable Episode. Refreshingly nonsense free. I have to say I care little when Skye and co. and travel the world, go after cases, heck, I don't even miss it when we don't get some super powered freak each episode. Honestly, I enjoy the show the most when it actually bothers to focus on the characters and sheds some light on their past. And because of that I enjoyed Ward in this Episode the most. But I also hate him for getting lucky with May. :argh:

Great episode! ....and I enjoy the way the show can embrace the "nonsense" episode and the "meaty" episode swings....like the X-Files did.....

So which boy in Ward's flashback was actually Ward?

I would have loved to see May take down RageGirl without needing an assist from the Beserker Staff. "The staff makes you strong, not invulnerable."....but then it would be obvious what actually was happening with Ward at the end.
