I agree. Awesome episode. There were lots of little comic/MCU references, also.
I'm really glad they didn't go with the obvious cliched "May's Pregnancy Secret" plotline. I was preparing to cringe. The writers are more clever than I give them credit for.
Yeah, but it still had her off the map because her relationship didn't work out, causing her to run home and take care of her father as if to prove she can handle domestic, 'normal' life. It wasn't too painful since pretty much everyone called her out on it, but then again everyone who called her out on it and eventually sparked May into returning to action all happen to be men. And her return wasn't for the sake of Simmons, Bobbi, Daisy, SHEILD, or her own realization that she doesn't need to fit into this normal lifestyle to be happy but rather about getting revenge on a guy who slept with her and then turned evil. So that ha a lot of unfortun-
Oh who am I kidding? A season arc of The May & Hunter Cross Country Revenge Road Trip. Oh I am so there. I'll miss May and Coulson's interaction, and Hunter's relationship with just about everyone, but it gives them something to be off doing so the main plot doesn't get too full and it hopefully features hours of May kicking the crap out of rich, spoiled nazis. Merry Christmas!
I'm really loving Mack as well. I mean, I already loved him but every time he's on screen it's just a reminder. I love his interactions with so many of the characters, and of course this season is giving him and Daisy a lot of time together. We've seen a few glimpses of Bobbi, Mack, and Hunter which is nice since they are sort of personal friends. We've even got to see him with Coulson, although not as much as I would like.
What I'm really missing is his old relationship with Fitz. Obviously it would have changed due to Fitz's changing in his obsession to get Simmons back, especially when Mack otherwise has his own mission objective to see to. These two seemed to have had a solid friendship and now it's just a quick mention that Mack wouldn't even talk with him. Also, while it's been impossible until this point I can't wait to see how he gets along with Jemma. Will this experience drive her further into her animosity against all alien related technology and people potentially leading them to form a sort of alliance. Or will her natural curiosity be put off by Mack's strict "no messing around with alien junk" policy?
I'm kind of worried what their plans are for Jemma at this point. I don't want a repeat of Fitz and Skye's various emotionally broken recoveries with the inevitable closing off, trust no one attitude while deciding you are useless to everyone. Not that that is unrealistic, I would just like to see a variety of reactions by different characters. Coulson and May almost dip into that territory themselves, barely no qualifying since instead of going useless they through themselves into work (a habit Fitz seems to have picked up). From what we've heard, Bobbi runs, and apparently Hunter is more likely to deal with the situation with alcohol, bitter sarcasm, and (aftera few hours of complaining) finally guns.
