Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD - S02E16 - "AfterLife"

I don't think the Inhuman left on earth and the Royal family/Attilan are related.

Or there are multiple Inhuman settlements around the globe and Jiaying is responsible for the Afterlife one.

True, that's another possibility, which would still make it dark, even if (perhaps, but see below) less so.
But I'm not sure how they could keep Skye prisoner without killing her and without keeping her sedated or otherwise immobilized all of the time. They can't just take away her power - the transition is irreversible.

Whatever it is, it smells really bad. But maybe they can be talked out of it?

Well she has nowhere to go.....without Gordon there is no way out of that place

Absolutely loved the episode. Was suspicious that Skye's mom was probably alive. Deathlok returned, loved Coulson and Hunter's banter together (at the car dealership, at the cabin, loved the holographic decoys). Also really loved FitzSimmons in this. Jemma has redeemed herself a bit in my eyes, she was undoubtedly running scans that would allow her to make a fake copy and that's what Fitz meant when he said (while in Mack's presence) "I know what she's doing". And the return of the sandwich that he never got to eat!!! Priceless :)

HOLEEEEEEEEEEE ^&*()^&*(&* BABY!!I FREAKING DUG
THE UPGRADED DEATHLOK.... ABOUT FREAKING TIME!!!hahahahahah and loved Coulson when Hunter said why didnt you tell me" cause i wanted to see the look on your face! it was Priceless!"

I wonder if that was a shot at the audience too.

So nobody else thought that it was kind of weird that Lincoln referenced smoking weed to Skye? That seems a little edgy for ABC and the MCU haha

I don't understand why people are making such a big deal about the weed reference....

What an awesome episode. I thought Ward was going to be the reinforcements, but Deathlok 2.0 was much better. They didn't hold any punches with giving us Skye's Mom either. Good stuff.

Really looking forward to these next few weeks and how it all possibly ties into AOU. The seeds have been planted.

Pretty much
To think there is no remaining Hydra ,would be naive.

There is HYDRA, led by Baron von Strucker and Doctor List. Gonzales is a loyal S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

The Weed reference is probably a product of changing laws all over the world in favor of legalizing it.

Also,
Bell warns that Calvin has since been driven by one thought: "If I can find my daughter, if I can reunite my family, my wife will forgive me for what happened 26 years ago and she will love me and we’ll be a happy family."
we have interpreted Cal's motives wrong all the time. But it makes sense!

I don't get the uproar over that reference either. I live in Washington and it's legal here. I can't say that's been a good thing, even though I voted for it. We've had a TON of DUIs associated with people driving while high, as well as a bunch of crimes associated with stealing pot. In fact, down the street from my mom's house, which is situated out in the middle of nowhere, there was an old fashioned OK Corral style shootout over a grow some guy had in his backyard. It's become not just a recreation, but its actually now a lifestyle for a lot of people. I just don't get the attraction. I tried it and didn't care for it personally. I would have changed my vote if I could go back, I think the mentality surrounding it is destructive. Every kook, crazy conspiracy theorist, or every loser I run into builds their life around getting high. To me it's no different than legalizing Oxycontin or some other painkiller for recreational use.

There is a 'lost tribe' that fit the bill.

Limited access to Terrigenisis leading to only those with skills to help the group getting the gift.

yeah Vartha! hehe:cwink:
i been watching agents of shield since its inception and for the most part its been lackluster with me ( not freaking as bad as GOTHAM!) but finally we get Skye becoming interesting and (NAKED!! hehe) and if this new Gonzalez's dude is HYDRA and Coulson really starting to be the Man! and doing it with flair!( like i knew he was!),the added Inhumans intrigue !oh and DEATHLOK waxing those Fools asses!
I dug it Man! really more than i ever did!

he seemed surprised to see his wife to me

I realize some stuff is left off screen, but when important events like that are done with out even a how, why, when, etc, it's a very strong indicator that there's more to the story then meets the eye, and thus he must have been aware before hand. At what point exactly is still unclear, but he definitely knew before hand.

Far as that interview goes, we'll see how it plays out. I'm not putting all of my faith in it but it definitely explains a lot, with how it was presented.

In The Things We Bury Cal claims his goal is to be reunited with his family in the afterlife. Maybe he was talking about this location, instead of some mythological realm.

I don't think Cal was that surprised to see his wife. I think he knew she was he probably just want revenge on Whitehall for taking her ablitys which goes into question that Whitehall could also still be alive.

He might have been surprised to see her at THAT moment... but he was not surprised that she was alive... just that she was in front of him.

There is no way that the bring Ward back to the team as anything more than a decoy or as a weapon. He has killed far too many "innocent" people.

Cal's been in Afterlife longer than Skye. Why is it so hard to believe he was made privy to her survival off camera before that scene?

I think saying that he knew all along is bad writing/storytelling. I'd have to watch the episodes again but to me he was grieving the death of his wife in those eps.

I loved the Superman II reference.( Lex & Otis playing chess :hehe:)

what did gordon mean when he said to cal he had sealed his and his daughters fate? Are they for the chop?

Ya I had forgot about that one, it was pointed out to be in the general discussion thread as well

I don't understand why people are making such a big deal about the weed reference....

The simple fact that in most states it is still illegal as well as on a federal level. Marvel and particularly ABC have a family friendly reputation. So for them to come out and act like it's no big deal is kind of surprising

That sucks and I'm sorry to hear that but I think a good majority of that would be due to the fact that even though it's legal where you are there is still a black market for it in other states. I used to smoke weed all the time but no longer do, but I am familiar with tons of creative and productive normal citizens who like to partake in their own time. People can abuse any substance but decriminalizing it and legalizing it across America would lead to a lot less crime resultant from it as well as dispel the taboo around it among younger folks.
