Alfred Pennyworth in the reboot

Don't want to turn this into Joker thread, but he does switch on the unsettling phases of sobriety and reason at times. The effect of it is that you never quite know if he is joking, which I find quite effective.

I thought you meant something more sensitive from him where Harley is necessary lol
Those things work well however.

Joker has conflicting issues inside too. They effect himself and evidently those around him. While he plays them out as a joke, he definitely has identity crisis. He deprives Harley, he makes sexual innuendos towards Batman, he occasionally cross dresses.

Silva was on those similar lines, being bi-sexual. But Joker is more severe with mental issues.

Just going left field lol

Bowie would actually be quite a convincing Bat-villain. Maybe as The Joker in 'The Dark Knight Returns'.

He was a pick before for Joker :funny:

Younger days he was Joker. Nowadays, I see Alfred potential :D

I want to see an Alfred that is a bit younger, and looks like he can actually kick a little butt. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Alan Napier, Michael Gough, & Michael Caine as Alfred, but every single one of them looked as though a gust of wind could knock them over.

A gentleman that I think would play the part great is Jerome Flynn, he's a English actor, and 50 years old. He looks different in every part that he plays, but here is an image of him, looking like Alfred IMO

He looks like a close friend of Jimmy Savile.

Why is he wearing those "Uncle Bad Touch" spectacles, then?

Would actually like to see Alan Rickman as Alfred. Could just picture him so well, guiding Batman on a mission, giving him intel, etc. Well, of course, before they use Oracle. IF they use Oracle.

I just want an alfred who hasn't been at wayne manor since before Bruce was born, like in the Pre Crisis continuity. It would be great to see this old british man have to earn Bruce's trust, rather than have it immediately.

The perfect Alfred that has the star power, the acting chops, the wit and warmth, as long as you let him get a tiny bit older is Jude Law. Just think about him having a B:TAS style personality, carrying the morning paper down to alert Batman to his exploits making the papers.

Timothy Dalton or Jeremy Irons can give you that now.

Outside of him and caine playing alfie, jude law is terrible for Alfred. I mean he's older than Bale for crying out loud. Plus he is better as a villain than a hero, imo

^And Brosnan can in the next couple of years :D

i feel brosnan may try and steel the scene and try too hard - Dalton would be a good way to go if you wanted him more of a body guard/mentor for Bruce that naturally adopted him after his parents died.

I think a butler, so to speak, these days is dated. A wealthy business man, play boy will have PA's - Alfred could have been hired as body guard/cheaufer for the wayne family, particular to look after the wife whilst Wayne Snr is away on business. They get bumped off and he naturally, steps in. He picks Bruce up when he is down, is that maternal link to his family, his past.

I also like the idea of Bill Nighy - he would be a warm, father like figure, but also with military past and a dab hand in the kitchen

Bill Nighy is the only person I can't see as a warm father figure :funny:

Brosnan, being around kids in films I can.

Bill Nighy looks evil. Alfred shouldn't look evil. I guess Alan Rickman looks evil too but in the later HP movies we saw he was a good guy the whole time
