Gotham Sean Pertwee is Alfred Pennyworth

So, son of a Time Lord as Batman's custodial guardian.

I'm really hopeful that description of him mostly as an ex-marine means they'll be emphasizing his danger-level. I wouldn't mind having our first view of him being at the Wayne crime scene, doing his own investigation. And I'd pay good money to see Alfred kick ass.

I agree it's time to see a different side to Alfred on film though I admit I wasn't particularly thrilled with bad-ass Alfred in the comics.

I'd also like to see many maids in Wayne Manor because Alfred realistically would have even a rough time supervising the nooks & crannies of Wayne Manor much less clean the whole place.

It'll take a few seasons for him to grow it much like it will for Gordon, the stress of living in Gotham just makes you grow one...eventually.

He looks so much like his father, and I think he's a great choice for this! I'm hoping his portrayal of the character will be very different from that of Jeremy Irons, although to be fair I find it unbelievable to think that either one will manage to take the Alfred throne away from Michael Caine!

I thought Pertwee was very good. It was kinda refreshing to hear a live action Alfred that didn't have a Cockney accent again.

This Alfred was an A-Hole. Definitely not what i wanted to see. Too concerned with their rich public image and teaching Bruce lessons than comforting the poor boy.

I can't believe they had Alfred tell Bruce to stop crying because people could see him as they are walking away from his parent's crime scene, that was too much.

He has to be a bit stand offish. He's the butler. Think their relationship will grow with the show.

But it is also an English thing not to show too much emotion or weakness in public. Stiff upper lip and all that. It's unheard of for a british man to see a shrink. At least no-one I know would admit to it. Even for marriage counselling.
