BvS All Things Batman v Superman: An Open Discussion (TAG SPOILERS) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 288

This was the part of the article I found interesting:
According to ComScore PostTrak, which polls throughout the weekend, the word of mouth is great for BvS. Seventy-one percent of Thursday’s crowd gave BvS an excellent or very good grade. Even better news for Warner Bros. after those reviews: 60% of the audience said they would definitely recommend BvS to their friends while 33% said they’ll probably tell them about it. Older males were out in force (no surprise) at 69% guys, 57% over 25. Fifty-one percent saw it in 3D. Twenty-five percent said BvS exceeded their expectations while 60% said the film met their expectations.

Everything is fine.

An hour out from seeing the film. Still incredibly curious how this all puts together as I've been miraculously able to avoid spoilers. I'm ready for the three year wait to be over.

There's no doubt in my mind that Justice League is moving full steam ahead with Snyder at the helm. Zack's going to be able to finish this story. I just hope Snyder can stick the landing in Justice League and make the epic superhero film we've been waiting for.

One thing's for sure, you can bet your bottom dollar the studio will running through JL with a fine tooth comb to make SURE it is a four quadrant, audience pleasing hit. Which...may be a good or bad thing.

There was one thing that really bothered me with the film and im hoping someone can answer this. Why does luthor hate superman? and what was his motivation to hate him?
good question...i can only guess....the fear of a greater threat which has to be controlled or he is just a megalomaniac. yet nothing is really clear in this movie

I'll say this, finally seeing it after 3 years was quite possibly the most bizarre experience I've ever had in a movie theater. And I've had some bizarre experiences in movie theaters.

I said in the BO thread that word of mouth, at least from my friends has been nothing but positive. I'm going back today, as are two friends that went to the midnight showing. One of them was on the fence, but he wanted another look to make up his mind. People where buzzing walking out of last nights showing, seemed to be a good vibe all round and that article does not surprise me.

Question: do you think BvS will be or is kinda like Watchmen in regards to the cuts? Because I remember feeling meh after seeing Watchmen until I saw the director's cut; all of a sudden, a number of things I had problems lowered down to just 2, and 1 of them isn't from the movie but a preference.

Without a doubt, even if I feel that the theatrical cut of BATMAN v SUPERMAN is smoother than WATCHMEN's theatrical cut.

But yes. Absolutely.

It appears, for at least what looks like the majority of critics and skeptics of this film, the pendulum was swung from Man of Steel over to Batman v Superman. I don't know if a middle of the swing Justice League will appease them.

I suggest to not visit Reddit's DC Cinematic for quite a while. Man, that place suck the joy out of me. :funny:

Speaking of Reddit, for months I hoped that Reddit plot leak from 8-9 months ago was true. :p Especially because some elements do happen in the trailers and movie. Maybe that leak was early draft.
I like the final product, but that leak stuff was dope IMO.

And I want to see Lois and Mercy fight. :hmr: Lois-focused prequel comic showed that she is capable of defending herself after all.

Now, after I've been thinking for a while,

I must say that I do not care about Lois x Clark stuff in MoS and BvS. Maybe because I never watch any movie seeking for romance. :O

Personally, I think Amy Adams and Henry Cavill have no chemistry. At all.
On eyes, both make these gorgeous pair, Amy is a real solid actress as a bonus. When those two announced, I was thinking, 'oh, maybe this will work'. Plus looks like Amy genuinely fancy Henry off screen. A bit disappointed that it did not worked for me.

The fact that both movies kinda forced Lois into the scene did not help. Just like when Faora in MoS said Zod & co want Lois to get into the ship, I cannot understand the reason except to ensure Lois presence. And Lois is somehow Clark's stalker, so when those two get together at the end I scratched my head. Not enough building up and Lois need to be saved constantly, even in BvS. Sweet moments there and there, but I am not feeling it.

When Supes told Lois that she is his world or how Flash warned Batfleck to keep Lois save to prevent evil Supes, it fell empty. Again, for me personally. :csad:

Glad to hear the potential of BO success. :D

Yeah, filming is in two weeks. Nothing's changing. They've got their cast, sets, everything's in place. They'd be losing money to change things and delay them at this point, and that's not an option.

But personally, Zack is the man for the job. He shouldn't go anywhere.

Stinks about reddit but we in this era of social media love to pile on.

As for Lois, I though her story was well planned out.

She was used in many instances. Africa, the top of Lex's tower... she was in DC investigating. Her job. She went to save her man from Batman. Everyone complains that Lois is a damsel, here she was trying to save Superman and does. She knew where the spear was, she's the one that hid it. She had to go. Who else would know where it was? Did she need to drag one of the people fighting doomsday off with her? I thought everything done with Lois was done masterfully. I think the problem is there hasn't been enough Lois and Clark scenes to really sell her involvement with the story or make you connect with Clois to understand Superman's motivations.

Once when I was a teenager I saw a movie in a completely empty theater save myself. Quite possible the most unsettling public experience I've ever had. So long as BVS doesn't tread that territory, I should be good.

i hadn't so much fun visiting here since the viral time of the dark knight :hoboj:

Yeah I've had that happen too. My Week with Marilyn. :woot: Good film, haven't seen it since.

Did yall read what Snyder said about Batman killing?

Zack Snyder said:
I tried to do it in a technical way. There’s a great YouTube video that shows all the kills in the Christopher Nolan movies even though we would perceive them as movies where he doesn’t kill anyone. I think there’s 42 potential kills that Batman does! Also, it goes back and includes even the Tim Burton Batman movies where this reputation as a guy that doesn’t kill comes from.
So, I tried to do it by proxy. Shoot the car they’re in, the car blows up or the grenade would go off in the guy’s hand, or when he shoots the tank and the guy pretty much lights the tank [himself]. I perceive it as him not killing directly, but if the bad guy’s are associated with a thing that happens to blow up, he would say that that’s not really my problem.
A little more like manslaughter than murder, although I would say that in the Frank Miller comic book that I reference, he kills all the time. There’s a scene from the graphic novel where he busts through a wall, takes the guy’s machine gun…I took that little vignette from a scene in The Dark Knight Returns, and at the end of that, he shoots the guy right between the eyes with the machine gun. One shot. Of course, I went to the gas tank, and all of the guys I work with were like, ‘You’ve gotta shoot him in the head’ because they’re all comic book dorks, and I was like, ‘I’m not gonna be the guy that does that!

I saw it a second time last night. I went with 6 other people and they all enjoyed it. I started seeing some of the problems people are mentioning (editing, pacing, etc), but I still enjoyed it a lot.

The audience was really into it. Cheering during a lot of the movie's awesome moments. Until some people found it funny and started clapping during random parts. You could tell that the genuine ones were when the entire room cheered and that happened a lot.

They cheered during all the JL cameos, except Cyborg. :oldrazz: A lot of people asking who he was.

True. But Lois and the spear went back and forth frustrated me a bit. :O

Regardless, I want Amy to stay. I really like her and she is superb actress. :hrt: DCEU need great actors and maybe Clois will be more defined in the future.

I don't remember Batman killing anyone in the TDKR.

He killed the driver in the truck that was careying the nuke. He shot the front of it and the shrapnel killed the driver and Talia had to take over.

I guess someone could argue he caused talia to dive off the overpass and crash.

And in Batman Begins he pancaked copcars. One in particular would have crushed the driver.

But I dont think its as many times as Snyder is trying to say it is.

Nice. I was watching Jurassic Park: The Lost World. I similarly haven't watched it since, though largely because I thought the movie was awful.
