All Things DCEU News, Discussion, and Speculation - Part 2

We've been through this before with 4chan and the like. I never believe them. Even if they make-up info I wish were true.

Nothing wrong with discussing it though. No one is saying the rumours are true we're just discussing the possibility that they are. We're not doing the same as some posters when they believe every negative rumour going.

Here's hoping MOS2 gets a different director.

Over/Under 10% Superman 2 actually comes out in 2019? I'll bet the farm on under.

Batman is a cinch to be 2019, the other probably Sirens or Black Adam. Highly doubt they do three unless JL, WW, AM do gangbusters critically, commercially, and financially.

I really would love to watch a modern Superman movie where we get to see a little bit more of the Clark Kent persona and Superman taking on a less "apocalyptic" threat. Bizarro would be cool too. Just let the audience hang out with the characters. Let them experience the Metropolis lifestyle and what kind of impact Superman has on it. Show us Superman doing Superman things. Even if it's just saving a cat out of a tree. Not everything has to be catastrophic. Explore his social relationships and show him being an active crime fighter. Don't be afraid of making him simply investigate a crime. Do something different, but at the same time recognizable as a Superman story. Not everything has to be about saving the world against aliens with a big, boring, messy third act. Make a smart movie and don't go formulatic.

This is basically what i wish for a Superman movie. And if they use Bizarro, make him funny and dangerous at the same time. That would be perfect. Don't just go the evil clone root. Make him more complex.

Is it asking too much?

Cool idea, to be honest we've had one movie where we saw Superman fight as superman should (man of steel), than we've had a movie where it's questioned superman and his powers (B vs S),

I won't be surprised if the next superman focused film has to do with him balancing the two persona's, and how it really affects everyone else around him.

I'm just personally sad we won't see good ole lil jimmy olsen.

I just want to see Clark Kent using his powers for investigative journalism as Clark Kent. Doesn't even have to take up more than an act. I want to see how Clark uses his powers (super hearing, strength, heat vision, x-ray vision) to change the world through journalism (like bringing down Intergang/Bruno Manheim for corruption and racketeering). This only strengthens the possibility of the classic shirt-rip. Tie it to whatever alien or metahuman world-ending/small scale scenario they want for the 2nd and 3rd acts.

GCS likely isn't going to February 2019 since WB already has The Lego Movie Sequel in that slot. I'm guessing if it does a 2019 release it'll be Shazam's slot in April or November.

I'm guessing The Batman will be June 2019 though I wouldn't be surprised if it gets November.

They're aimed at different demos. Even if that was a conflict, they can still set them apart by a few weeks given movies are now expected to make most of the gross in that 1st month.

I don't think we're gonna see Clark Kent persona anymore. He comes back to life same time Superman does? Nobody involved behind the scenes seems to care about the Kent side anyways so its either make everyone in the supporting cast a moron to do something filmmakers aren't invested in, or just make him Superman with no alter ego. Think that's clear the direction they're going to go.

Even though it would be risky and difficult, I'm beginning to really want to see Mxyzptlk as an antagonist for Superman. Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, and DC's Rebirth comics have all used him to great effect. I don't know how it would work, and it would be a real departure for superhero movies, especially Superman, but I'm so curious about it that I kind of hope it happens someday.

I disagree. The DCCU films have actually invested more in Clark than I would have expected. In fact, Clark was a pretty active character as a man and as a journalist in BvS. We saw him attend meetings, pitch stories, cover events, and investigate. The supporting cast don't have to be morons; they just have to let in on the secret. After JL, the world of the DCCU would have expanded to include New Gods, magic, and countless other new and inexplicable things. The news that Clark Kent's death was a hoax or even something more outlandish like a magic memory charm could fix the identity issue. The main reason why I don't think the Clark Kent persona is going away is because of Lois and Martha. Superman is going to want to live a normal life and that normal life is going to include Lois Lane and Martha Kent.

I don't think we'll see Snyder in the director's chair again for the DCEU after Justice League. I can see him hanging around with an 'exec producer' credit but I think that's it.

If Justice League is a smash I reckon he'll do JL2

I think WB will cut him loose. If JL is badly received obviously he'll go. If it does well he's so divisive I think they (and maybe even he) will want him to go out whilst on a high note, rather than risk problems with another movie.

If GCS does go to February 2019, I'd opt for Valentine's Day. They need a big enough gap between it and Captain Marvel which has a March release.

The films reception and box office will decide on whether Snyder returns.

Because JL was scheduled to film like a month after BvS released. I would assume, too many things were already in place.

Yeah, I was being facetious. He's a lame duck president at this point. I don't think he'd wanna stay regardless; WB gave him an incredibly short leash for JL, and multiple reports have surfaced there's been more than the usual amount of bickering between himself and the parent company.

Why is he doing JL after MOS and BvS, though?

Oh lord! You don't like him fine, you don't like the movies fine but regardless of what you think they were both succesful movies for the studio. JL was ready for production righ after BvS.

They were ready, but there was indisputable turmoil going down between BvS release and JL filming. Both his films were critical disappointments, one of which was heavily panned, and both made considerably less than what WB wanted. If JL didn't start a month after BvS was released, he's making that Ayn Rand movie as we speak.
