Just the fact they let Superman be on TV and even get beaten up by a girl but refuse to let anyone even say "Batman" on any of the DC TV shows indicates that Superman isn't a jealously guarded property like Batman is.

Well, the Batman mythos is currently getting f***ed in that other network :o

Honestly, I think the writing's on the wall. The character's just not a priority for WB at this point in time. Of course, maybe a filmmaker like Matt Vaughn can come in and change their mind. I wouldn't take that new slate as gospel.

Still, 2020 is now a best-case scenario for a Man of Steel sequel, and that's seven years after the first one. Christoper Nolan completed a trilogy of films during such a time span. I think they've missed their window.

Whilst the slate should be taken with as much grain of salt as the last one I genuinely think WB have all but given up on the character. Which is sad to think about.

Which is hilariously misguided because Batman has proven to be a very successful property on television.

Back in 1966 Batman was. But when has there been a live action Batman on TV since then, other that the opening scene of the Birds of Prey TV show. And Batman didn't even have any speaking lines in that.
And maybe as a joke on The Big Bang Theory. I don't call Wolowitz dressing as Batman for a costume party at the comic book store as a live action Batman.

Never mind the fact that no one dares say the word "Batman" on the show. I don't even recall seeing a bat flying around anywhere.

Because Batman flourished in animation to the point where that character became synonymous for the co. once known for Looney Tunes.
A live-action Batman show was made redundant the moment they adapted Arrow.

When was the last time there was an animated Batman show in primetime on a major network? Cartoons may be beloved by their fans but they hardly register with the general public. Unless it is a spoof like the Lego movie.

3 or 4 years ago - unless you count Justice League Action.

Back when a lot of action cartoons were purged from primetime.

In any case, Arrow is why Batman on tv is redundant. Gotham is why his universe of characters just to be reimagined for an Arrow-like show is redundant.

Justice League Action never ran on a major network in prime time. It has always been on the cable channel Cartoon Network.
ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox are major networks. And none of them have had a live action Batman since ABC back in the 1960s.

So in other words Batman himself isn't allowed to be live action on TV. Which is what I said in the first place.
Instead we get pseudo Batmen like Green Arrow on Arrow and Guardian on Supergirl

Maybe in the next wave of live-action shows whenever that is or when they've finally decided to give him a rest in animation.

Really? :yay:

Could you please show or tell me where exactly?

Digging the thought of John Krasinski as Oliver Queen. It'd be interesting to see Stephen Amell's reaction.

Theory: This is precisely *why* they won't allow an actual Batman TV show. If it were made, and weren't completely terrible, it'd make giant bank. . . and the movie division would never get the same kind of creative control back.

Geoff Johns said:
We haven't gone out there and said what our slate is and that’s because we’ll do it when we’re ready and we have the films that we’re excited about. But for Batman, what I will say is that Batman is more than just Batman and, you know, it’s been way too long since we’ve seen an expansion of that universe, and Batgirl — we are doing Batgirlwith Joss Whedon — it’s going to be super exciting. He’s going to start that next year, and that’s just the start. We want to explore the Batman universe in a very big, new way… Matt Reeves is coming on to do Batman now, and we don’t want to do the same thing that has been done before. We want to build it out just like we built it out in the comics.

They're just going to keep Superman fans dangling forever, aren't they? :funny:

I kinda wish they'd pull a Thor and go cosmic with Superman. I don't know how they'd fit his civilian supporting cast in there (if they even could), but I think it's an idea worth exploring.

My personal preference is for Cheetah in WW2 and Circe in WW3, but I'd be totally fine with those flipped.

I think they should change the release date. Just in case Disney moves Star Wars IX to December as well.

They'll probably do that if Star Wars does move but for right now SW8 is scheduled for May 2019 and it looks like that's where Disney wants to keep Star Wars at going forward (Han Solo releases May 2018).

Anyway do we have our 3 DCEU films for 2019?

April: Shazam
July: Suicide Squad 2
Dec: Wonder Woman 2

I got a feeling that the DCEU is going to be lining up Shazam as the fan favorite Superman should have been, but hasn't panned out.
