Ehh.. whoever take reigns of Superman franchise will have a say in what needs to be changed.

It's movie director's prerogative, will WB force their 'new suit design' on Matthew Vaughn / JA Bayona / Christopher McQuarrie ? What if they dislike it ?

I thought most costume design fell on appeasing its merchandising consumers unless there's no merchandise, which ofc then it's the director's/producer's prerogative.

As far as WB/DC goes directors you need to go after:

- Matthew Vaughan
- Christopher McQuarrie
- Alfonso Cuaron
- Darren Aronofsky
- Rian Johnson
- Ridley Scott

I tend not to trust scoopers who don't have any major project details except "here's what the new suit is", but the idea of Superman as connective tissue makes perfect sense. It maintains his importance, ties the universe together and hopefully increases the character's popularity and the desire to see solo adventures.

DC definitely needs to act now especially because I know DC if they really really wanted it badly enough they could compete with Marvel quite easily

WB/DC have got the raw material, no doubt. It's the execution that's been a problem.

That is why you need a Feige at DC but who does DC even have at their top right now? That might be the problem if anything

Big No.

DC we need a win especially after Infinity War for MCU

However, DC what they need to do is get their ducks in a row

Hire someone at the top someone Feige like but who can that be?

Getting rid of Snyder was a start but how about getting rid of Whedon too? He has literally done next to nothing since jumping from Marvel to DC

Hire damn great directors

Focus on great storytelling

He's gone hasn't he? He's certainly no longer doing Batgirl (if you'll forgive the expression).

Then focus on getting superstar directors like The Russo Brothers but of course they are strictly Marvel so

Geoff Johns more or less should be the Feige of the DCEU but it is more or less the DC Brain Trust more or less a collective array of people when it should only be one person overseeing everything like how at Marvel they have Feige

What DC need to do is admit they’ve ****ed it, step back and have a huge rethink. The current ducks they have are lame and covered in their own ****. They need new ducks.

That was funny but at the same time it is true they need to hire great directors but have great storytelling staying true to the source material of course but add a few tweaks here and there but nothing too major

They just need to focus on making good solos.
Forget about the shared universe and stop treating treating these movies like steps towards something bigger.
Give these characters good movies and people will start wanting to see them together.

If the next few movies are hits, things will be back on track.
The first few missteps will be forgiven and forgotten.

Yeah but I think everyone wants to see a shared universe especially if it means competing with Marvel on a grander scale

Yeah but I think people of course want solos but they also want to see these heroes together I mean if Infinity War or Civil War or any of those films have taught us that people want all of their heroes in the same movie at the same time

I agree people do like the idea of their heroes teaming-up, but it needs the build-up. With the MCU the audience were there along for the ride with everything that lead to it. With the DCEU they didn't really get that, it just happened in the second movie.

Yeah you're right well the MCU did have years to start off in the right way and DCEU started years later so there is a huge difference there as well...so no proper template

WB needs to stop worrying about competing with the MCU.
The MCU has already won in a lot of ways.
It’s never going to be neck and neck.
They can obviously learn a few things from the success of the MCU but they need to focus on their own product and it’s quality.
If you focus too much on your opponents steps, you’re gonna botch your own :o

I guess I see your point

However, they did start off with the proper template starting with Man of Steel but had they just did the Wonder Woman solo and all the other solos first then yeah you can focus on the quality

I don't see how you can now when you have sequels already lined up in place

I feel WB/DC let themselves get derailed by the fear of playing catch-up.

Absolutely. In any business you obviously keep an eye on what else is going on, but as you say not to the detriment of your own product!
