In your opinion, would you say that their more developed than the likes of how Thor and Jane were shown in "Thor", along with them being more closer/intimate with each other in MOS as well?

In by more developed along the lines of Thor and Jane, you mean a bit forced? Somewhat. I felt they had more screen time together. The story is mostly Clark finding himself. Any of the "problems" people had with this film will more than likely be rectified in the sequel.

Sounds very de ja vu to the ending of "The Amazing Spider-Man" when it comes to Gwen and Peter, minus the broken promise and heartbreaking break up at the doorstep.lol and at least we don't have to worry as much in seeing Lois die like Gwen is most likely to in future installments.lol

That is what gets me more then anything. A dad sees his son is scared, tries to reassure him and it leads to tragedy. Of course it is surreal. Can anyone really imagine that happening to you? The look on his father's face as he tries to reassure his son is detached, but that is because he is dying.

That Bruce's dad is covering for his fear always gets. Great dad until the end.

I'm not much of a Nolan defender but he definitely got the death of Thomas Wayne (spoiler alert!) right. I've accused Nolan of being icy on occasion but I'll never say it about that scene, it was perfect.

I can say from experience, after bending over my own father as he died, sometimes too much emotion can seem like none at all. It's pure overload and can seem unreal.

Herolee, I liked Lois & Clark better than THor and Jane because they were doing other stuff than flirting, their focus was on the mission so you could feel they started by mutual respect and trust. Thor and Jane were like cute teenagers blushing and flirting, it was cute but yeah. This one was definitely more adult.

By the way, having not seen the film yet, Zimmer score is thunderously wonderful and poignant. Two days straight listening to the soundtrack and it's one of his best works yet.

It seems that the main complaint is that the action detracts from character dvpt, I can understand that, but it's always problem with origin movies no? Finding the right balance, and make it all fit, seeing how the movie seems to be spending quite some time on Krypton, that alone eats up like 20 min of the movie (from what I read), I like the flashback idea, it's a smart way to introduce moments of Kal El's life. They probably wanted to really grace the audience with massive action, because yeah, as told, Superman Returns had none.

It's always a complaint with many movies though, especially blockbusters, secondary characters lacking dvpt, and it's understandable, you focus on the main character, his quest, because this is his origin story, the character is forming itself, it's his beginnings. BB doesnt have a ton of character dvpt for secondary characters by the way too, think of Rachel, Lucius, etc. What you do is give them defining traits, but you can't give them a lot with time constraints.

Of course, I'm waiting to see the movie, but maybe, they should have scaled back the Krypton stuff, or made the movie longer. I relish in the idea though to see more Krypton, this is going to be awesome. I just love superhero action as well, so I think in the end, I won't be annoyed by that, we'll probably see more character dvpt in the sequel.

Thing is MOS is giving Jor-El a much bigger place, same with Pa Kent, Ma Kent, same with Zod (contrary to Superman II where you can't get more one dimensional then that), then you get Faora, Lois Lane, plus other characters. It's trying to do much more and bigger than all the other Superman movies combined.

But leaving that aside and the fact that I didn't cared for Zod at all, I think that harsh criticism is really unfair, I feel like they're trying to bring down the movie with malice. I just, I don't know. It's not perfect but damn some reviews are horrible.

And as a Lois Lane fan I'm very pleased with her new role and dynamic with Clark/Kal. I'm gonna confess that when she was cast I was a little disappointed but wow, Amy was fantastic, she truly is a great actress. The other two females were great too. Antje and Diane. Antje impressed me too.

Yeah, the short changing of Clark's character development for spectacle is a definite no-no for me.

I get your point about being able to design a really long, effective setpieces by using a lot of characters and perspectives, but it doesn't change the fact that it is a giant fistfight. I can't get the final Neo-Smith confrontation out of my head and that worries me. Watching that scene even as a young teenager, I couldn't help but be bored a couple of minutes in. There is only so many different ways that one can go about striking someone with their limbs, objects and heat vision. I prefer shorter, more concise action beats that leave you wanting more rather blurry-eyed and exhausted.

I've had that concern myself but I hope that's not how I'll experience it. There's always seemed like it's possible to go overboard and that the fact that all people fighting have the same kind of powers can make it harder to give variety to the action.

I really hope it doesn't remind me too much to the final Neo-Smith fight since that's not a good one. I hope MOS always keeps the story and character in mind over the idea of huge destruction.

That sounds good. I haven't really paid much attention to him for a while after he had his long period of just coasting and being a derivative of himself, reaching the bottom by actually straight up copying music from old movies into new ones. He certainly has the talent to be great. I'll wait to listen to the score until I see the movie though.

From the negative reviews I've read it seems some people wanted a dual identity situation with all the Daily Planet stuff etc and I too think they will probably prefer the (hopefully) inevitable sequel.

I can understand why Snyder wanted to put in this kiss scene, but...

...this is one scene I didn't really like. I mean there was destruction all over the city, people were trapped inside bldgs, people were dying, literally thousands needed Superman's help, and he stood there to kiss Lois. He didn't even ask Perry and crew if they were fine, and they were just a few hundred meters away.

This scene actually bothered me more than Superman killing Zod, and it's not because he killed someone, but because I felt he could've just flown up and brought Zod with him. They were fighting all over the city, punching each so hard the recipient of the punch keeps getting thrown hundreds of meters away, and Superman couldn't just drag Zod away from the train station.

BOX OFFICE REPORT: PHILIPPINES

The new, origin film of Superman flew off to a blockbuster start yesterday as “Man of Steel” surpassed the industry's all-time opening day record with a nationwide gross of a monumental P69.52-M.

“Man of Steel's” phenomenal debut bested the opening day record previously established only last April by “Iron Man 3” at P62.9-million.

This was announced today by Francis Soliven, general manager of Warner Bros. (F.E.), Inc. which distributed the film. “This is a day of reckoning for Superman,” added Soliven. “He's a larger-than-life character beloved by millions of Filipinos, and this was proven today. Fans and families welcomed him back overwhelmingly as evidenced by the long lines, the ubiquitous Superman shirts everywhere, and the cheers at the end of screenings.”

Dominating the over all box-office with a 94 percent share, “Man of Steel” also posted the biggest opening day gross ever for Warner Bros. whose previous best first-day performer was “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” at P28.3-million.

Plus, June 12th is a Philippine holiday, it's our Independence day, so I had no doubt it would break opening day records.

Yeah I noticed it wasn't 100% Man of Steel either. But I think MOS had the advantage of opening on a holiday, while Iron Man 3 opened on a regular working day.

they could be a couple, Lombard asks her out and she says no, 10 seconds later she and Clark are smiling at each other. There's a lot left open for interpretation. Especially after Clark's line when they kiss.
But even if they're not it DEFINITELY leaves the road open for the sequels. So, don't be disappointed, trust me

For me, that all adds up to: how could you not be excited?
