I wasn't saying that they didn't give a lot of people what they liked, I just said that the GA isn't one single entity and even though many people like one thing it doesn't mean that everyone feels the same. Therefor it's a bit too easy to say that the critics and GA are separated since the ones in the GA that aren't interested won't go see it and won't rate it.

Reviews aren't meant to tell us how much money a film will make.
Everyone is an impossibility. "Everyone" it's the figurative everyone and by no means the literal or absolute. Not everyone loved avengers but the term is far more at appropriate than everyone loved After Earth.

I don't get how any critic in this example tells you what to think. Critics tell you what they think, and why, and you can use that as part of your reasoning whether or not to go see the movie. Maybe you'll think that what he thinks applies to you, or maybe you don't and just ignore it.
It's a fair point, but it doesn't rub me the wrong way any less.

Alot of language in reviews comes in this particular form:
"And then his dad dies, and you feel...nothing or something or whatever what not"
"And when he makes that joke, you don't feel like this is..."
"And because of that, you walk out of the theater feeling..."

Replace all those you's with I's. I'd appreciate it.

Wow, this place seems more upbeat now that a few more posters are laying out positive reviews. :hehe:

Poppin' into this thread, can someone give me two rough estimates with no specific plot details about how many people Superman is directly responsible for dying and another number for people Superman personally kills? I've avoided most spoilers and reviews so far for the film but I'd like to know this going into it. Thanks. Tag it if you can, I guess.

Saves the planet
lol:yay:

I just realized, watching all the trailers for Man of Steel, Superman/Kent almost doesn't have any dialogue.

Any word from Kurosawa? (does he have a blog... or something?)

I would bet money on him not liking this film. A lot of money.

For one thing, I know he'd be against [BLACKOUT]Superman killing[/BLACKOUT] in a major unbudgeable way.

Because by spending more time on his life before he suits up, they're going where no Superman film has gone before -- only Smallville is comparable I guess.

To show more of it would be to reveal the real spoilery stuff.

Woah. I didn't realize that until you just brought it up. Brilliant now that I think about it.

I keep thinking [BLACKOUT]when he knocks Faora through a building and he jumps over it to stomp her[/BLACKOUT] was a play on "able to leap tall buildings in a single bound" but the building isn't tall enough.:csad:

Just realized there were a couple of nods to Jon Peters in the movie as well

The World engine has a spider-like design when it is fighting Superman, and

The camera lingers on a polar bear for just a bit too long, because they are the fiercest killers in the animal kingdom

The polar bear most definitely now that you mention it LMAO!

I thought his [BLACKOUT]first attempt at flying[/BLACKOUT] was a nice nod to the Fleischer cartoons. I also just realized Superman doesn't [BLACKOUT]have a FOS[/BLACKOUT] for now.

Which is amazing considering he takes up 90% of screen time and talks in all of it.

He kills [blackout]Zod just as Zod's heat vision turns a whole family into ash right in front of his eyes. His hesitation to kill Zod caused the family to die.[/blackout] So directly responsible for 5 deaths if I remember correctly.

Link to his review?

Epic Masterpiece is quoted from some Kevin McCarthy critic from some television station. All you have to do is literally READ under the "EPIC MASTERPIECE" quote.

Edit...paused it. Kevin McCarthy, FOX TV.

So yeah, there ya go. No I'm not going to search down the actual review...if you think they are throwing fake reviews up ... okay then.

The film has many emotional scenes, but they are all three minutes or so long, and the film takes right angles directly after them which really limit any emotional resonance the film tries to portray.

I'm not. OK dude I get it. I only watched it once and didn't see the source on the last 2 clips. I'd like to read the review, sounds really positive. That's why I asked for a link after trying to google it myself.

Yet some reviews say the non-action stuff is highly effective and better than the action. We'll see how the world sees it.

But more than Avengers though?
Evidently not.

Sorry, not sure what you mean?

Do you mean Avengers had more emotion or MOS has more emotion?

Cause i'm probably the wrong person to talk to about Avengers in that sense. It didn't connect with me emotionally at all, and I was incredibly dissapointed about that because I love Whedon's other, much deeper work.

Fun flick, but it didn't stay with me.

I get the impression that Nolan seemed more interested in this project than he did in TDKR.
