Lois knowing Superman's identity is possibly the best risk taken. It adds a fresh dynamic to the Clark-Lois story while forgoing the need to either dumb Lois down or invent some plodding plot device to maintain the guise. Not sure I want the likes of Jenny (or Jimmy) and Lombard knowing. Clark the mild-mannered reporter interacting with them should provide the lighter moments. Perry I don't mind. Laurence Fishburne's portrayal gives me the impression his shoulders are broad enough to handle the truth.
This is one of my favorite aspects of the film. I think it's a nice change to have Lois know right away who Clark is...and that she discovered it on her own. I especially appreciate it, because as I've said before, it shows us how much she cares for Clark as a whole, not just certain aspects of him.
However, I think the movie overexposes Clark. With all the clues dropped, it wouldn't be difficult for someone driven to discover who Superman is, and how central Lois and Smallville is to the discovery. Realistically, in the wake of this very public first contact and a brush with an extinction-level event, EVERYONE on the planet wants to know all there's to know about Superman. Any kind of organized group -- religious bodies, science councils, military, intelligence communities, secret societies -- will want to know.
On this I agree with you. Unless the writers -- and Clark -- are less obsessed now with the whole secret identity issue. And let's face it, since Superman doesn't wear a mask, in today's society, it will be more and more difficult for him to remain anonymous.
I think it would be interesting to see if Luthor or Batman tries to approach any of these people to get info, only to get shut down. A group of people who are protective of Clark's identity might also be a refreshing change from all the silliness we sometimes see in the comics. It's been 75 years; perhaps it is time for something different.
I can't help but see Lois and the people of Smallville being put in jeopardy whenever an archvillain comes along. If Lois could ferret out Clark's background, pre-Kryptonian invasion, someone like Lex most definitely can with the resources at his disposal.
Well, Lois being in peril because of her connection to Superman is nothing new, right? The only major difference is that Smallville could be a target...but the bad guy would have to be pretty desperate or powerful to be able to threaten the entire town.
More likely, Metropolis will be the center of more destruction, since that is where Superman is going to be seen.
I wonder how long it will take Bruce and/or Lex to discover Superman's identity. I'm hoping that Lois figures out who Batman is. I think Superman could figure it out on his own, but having Lois give him the suggestion first would be fun.
