WB should give up of making superhero movies other than Batman. They need to give the rights to other sources and DC needs to have a own film division.

If they can gain independence from WB, they might have a shot.

WB would never allow it. Never mind that it would prolly make them more money in the long run, because then the films would actually get made.
One or two guys maximum would need to be in charge.
I think thats one of the problems now at WB, too many cooks in the kitchen. Thats just my personal opinion though.

All WB has to do is get a Superman into production by or during 2011 and they lock in the film rights to Superman for about 20 years.

BUT, do you think they will?

They have a team of chimps ready to stand in as for the actual film makers in case they run out of time.

How about if they re-release SR?

I would be totally shocked if Green Lantern doesnt happen. W.B. is the opposite of cheap; theyll pay if they think its a surefire hit which JL was not.

BUT, do you think they will?

...yes...

IF WB ends up letting GL die, then I will have zero confidence in them making a Superman film anytime in the next few years.

How in the hell can Marvel turn out several of their properties and WB/DC can't?

They're not owned by the largest entertainment company in the world.

^That doesn't make any sense. If WB cared about the character, they would've made at least 20 high-grossing movies with him. They just care about the money and hollywood trends.

If a movie is sucessful for this reason, it means we should copy it but they're analysing stuff in a wrong way.

Why can't DC be independent like Marvel? It sucks to be a DC fan nowadays. :(

They should buy the rights to be independent, then. I find it crazy that they don't make enough money to have done that already.

Sure, I could see WB cutting them a nice reasonable discount....maybe even a layaway plan. :O

Off-topic, but it looks like Justice League: Mortal isn't the only DC property to have issues with Australia according to Production Weekly.

Still nothing there that is in serious jeapordy of completely derailing it. It was going to be a close to 200 million dollar budget anyhow. THat's the way it is these days. Unless it goes well above that, I wouldn't panic just yet.

Because Marvel cares more about getting the film made than it being a good one.

Because the other studios will lose rights to the characters if they don't continue their Marvel franchises? Don't you think that's a good reason to get a film out there? Marvel Studios on the other hand has already delayed their slate 3 times, just like WB has in the past.

Well, one of their movies was pretty solid, and the other was excellent. So what the hell are you talking about, exactly?

Wb would be fools if they lose out on gl. They got a solid director, good script, a good solid leading actor. I am sure if AUS is off the block they can surely move to canada/ua/europe/etc.... where ever they find a cheaper place to shoot. They still have like 6months before its due to start shooting and we dont know what has been happening since Ryan came on board for hal. Now if it does get scrapped i agree with others things dont look good for any other big name dc characters happening any time soon.

That is probably so. I said it before its to bad for wb/dc to be having all this darn trouble with the court drama. Then let alone from the 90s-early 00s and post SR to have so many darn problems to get anything rolling on superman front.

I am honestly not sure if I make GL if I know for a fact I am losing Superman. Not that this is the case, but if it was I might just scrap everything until I work out a deal. Not sold that GL can hold a franchise by himself. Not that I wouldn't eventually try. Just not sure if this is the right time to do it.
