I agree yea just little peaks into filming, but then a bit more on like props/costuming/behind the scenes stuff.

I don't think they should give every little detail this time either. They should however give us a peek at the suit and let us know what villain(s) is in it. They will want to build excitement for it afterall, and too much silence fom them won't do that.

For me, it will all start with who they announce as the director. That will set the tone on how excited, or not, I get.

I feel the same way; Superman's got something to prove. All the secrecy that surrounds some superhero movies gets on my nerves anyway.

Totally it sucks when you know a film or show is filming that you cant wait to see, but it sucks when their is no pics/ officially or from set spies, or any news talking about it for awhile or just a few months before its due to be release and all that.

I think that's more ideal, so that people will get their impressions more from the film itself and that first viewing. But obviously marketing and buzz is a big part of the game these days...so keep the key story elements and the best parts under wraps (assuming there's a lot of it), and release just enough to whet people's appetites and want them to find out more.

Yup hopefully they can do something like that for superman this time. And right off the bat they will need to have a director fans can agree on, and then officially announce what this film is related to the other films so we can get it straight is it a straight on reboot to film series. We dont need any more quasi/semi sequels to a quasi/semi sequel that SR was.

Well...how many fans really 'agreed' on Nolan, or Favreau when they were announced? I thought Raimi would be an awful choice for Spidey, but that worked out pretty well for at least two films. Singer for Xmen, etc.

I think Supes needs a good 'up and coming' director to make their mark with these movies, pretty much like Nolan did with BB, Singer with XMen, Jackson with LOTR, Cameron with Aliens...and yeah, even Donner with STM. Rather than a more well-established one.

that is the hard thing what does wb want, would they try to get some big known guy like a cameron/jackson, and force them into a studio controlled film and have clashs with them potentially, and getting someone like them would give the film alot of big buzz. Or do you go with the up and coming director that can be more easily controlled, wont fight with the studio much and all that.

I myself would love to see what a jackson/cameron/or even a spielberg do with superman. But i know that wont happen at this time. I dont know who would be the best guy to go with at this time. I just hope who ever is selected it is someone i can get behind and that he will give us the more rounded out, and action packed film wb wants. But also have a good story, and all that stuff we want to see.

If it's a Cameron/Spielberg/Jackson before they were Cameron/Spielberg/Jackson, but not the Cameron/Spielberg/Jackson they are now....I'd be down with that. Maybe the next Cameron/Spielberg/Jackson right before they made Aliens/Jaws/LOTR.

The only uber-established thing I'd want on it would be Industrial Light & Magic/Skywalker Sound.

I dunno if they would or not. Cameron almost directed Spider-man back in the 90's.
Anywho, the thing is, this could very well be the last Superman for a long while if it fails.
Think of the superman film as a new sports car. Would you give the keys to it to a new, inexperienced driver?
Or had you rather the one who has had lots of experience driving get the keys?

I think the approach for a director has to be an up and comer like Kal-Mart said or a guy that has one strong showing under his belt and has experience on set beforehand. Somebody like McTeigue or Blomkamp. WB has talked to similar directors in the past and this is the type of director they have been looking for as I have said for the last couple years.

I think they need to approach the director the same way they approach casting a new Superman, a guy just coming into his own with a flick under his belt or somebody with a strong acting background that hasn't hit it mainstream yet. Then you surround the actor with a strong cast, think Batman Begins. You do the same with the director, surround him with a strong supporting cast, ie costume designer, set designer, special effects company and so on.

It could work, but I am nervous about going with a new director. I'd feel better going to a guy with experience, BUT to be fair, singer had experience as well, even if he wasn't the director I would have picked.

Blomkamps looks like a guy who would have superman in a gritty realistic city. plus i still want to see a movie from him without PJ.

we need star trek,spiderman,iron man colors and direction IMO.

Several people on these boards have made the comment that the director should not be beholden to do anything other than make the film that they want to make.

On the subject of a budding franchise like a Superman film, I have to disagree. If this were 'The curious case of Benjamen Button' or 'ID4' it would be the directors baby and could be tweaked any way they so desire. With a film like 'Superman' the director is not the owner of the concept but merely a caretaker. They owe it to the character and to that character's fan base to put their best effort in and to ensure that it stays relatively true to source.

I cant wait to see who they do end up picking if we will end up with a film in production by the court date they have to get going by. Hopefully i will know/like who is picked, and hopefully he will do great things for superman.
