Visual FX supervisor Bill Westenhofer (Chronicles of Narnia, Life of Pi, Warcraft) is working with Patty Jenkins on Wonder Woman.

It'd be nice if they'd release some f***ing Warcraft footage already so we could gauge what this might look like.

Bill Westenhofer works for Rhythm & Hues and they did the tiger in Life of Pi. Michelle MacLaren could have gotten her wish!

Between this and Jason Fuchs possibly writting it, I have a hard time imagining the movie will be a period piece set in WWI or WWII

Bill mostly work on fantasy movies, with 3D modeling of animals and stuff like that, and Pan fits that category perfectly.

But who knows... it could be a fantasy movie in those eras, but I can't quite grasp it. However, it's basically what Marston did in the comics. I just can't see that working in a movie... but it could.

This kind of imagery in the movie hopefully :hmr:

That'll be up to Jenkins and whoever is her cinematographer. VFX artists answer to them, at the end of the day.

There's a leaked trailer from SDCC

And this looks great

Unfortunately the rest of the footage didn't look as great. The CG creatures are technically impressive, but it just didn't get to that level of photorealism that would be necessary to get lost in the world.

Makes me even more curious about what they're trying to go for with Themyscira.

If they hired this guy, then I expect to see a VERY vibrant Themiscyera (and possibly Olympus as well should they choose to go there).

I watched the Warcraft comic-con footage...I think because it's based on a video game it has that heightened look. The effects are great, though. The WW movie should of course be more grounded and realistic, with fx shots enhancing that.

Hmm this might be shooting December according to this plus maybe an early synopsis?

The site isn't a scoop site or anything. They keep you updated on Movies/TV shows that are in production or will be in the future.

STORY: The Amazonian princess-warrior Diana left her lush tropical island to dwell in our urban cityscapes of glass and steel. Tutored in the ways of the Greek warriors, and outfitted with incredible gifts the Goddess bestowed upon her people, she becomes Paradise Island's emissary to civilization.

December makes sense especially if they're waiting for Pine who won't wrap from Star Trek 3 until October at the earliest. I guess it'll start in December and wrap around April or May as I imagine Gal Gadot will have to do Press for BvS in March.

I'm guessing Morocco will be for Themyscira and UK will be studio sections and some location shooting.

Or Morocco could stand in for Ancient Greece and Far East is more tropical and that could be Themyscira.

Interesting. I guess early December is still fall.

Yes. Within the next month I would think. By mid Sept. I'm sure negotiations are kicking in now.
Yeah just because we haven't heard anymore names yet doesn't mean that casting isn't happening. I expect stuff in September and October. And then we will endlessly debate how good the choices are.

Well blizzcons coming and i remember that blizzcon 2013 is where they released the first images of warcraft for the diehard fans, cant wait this year!

well the film does have multiple writers on the project which could be pitching multiple ideas from WWII to fantasy

I think the "Far East" would be more suitable for Themyscira than Morocco, since it appears to have more tropical places. Both places could be used for Themyscira, though, for different sets... Like, the set of the city could be filmed on Morocco, and the tropical parts... forest, beach, etc... in some place in the Far East

But Morocco and area around it have some interesting Roman locations. If they could do both, then great. If not, I'd personally choose Morocco.

I think you're right.

But Themyscira is not desert. It would need tropical locations. But, as said, it also has the ancient architecture style the Amazons brought with them so Morocco (and the area around) would be needed.
