In the (very likely) event that this movie is a smash success, I really hope it launches Wonder Woman into the mainstream the same way Iron Man was. She's owed a Young Justice-level animated series at this point.

agree.
we have enough of Batman and Superman.
now it's her time to shine.

100% F-yeah!!

There's no reason NOT to have done that already or at least in the past seven to ten years.

I think she could be as big. Being the first major female superhero is a huge thing. Also the first non Batman or Superman DC hero to get acceptance which will make her the step to considering this a universe rather than a story of 2 characters.

Wonder Woman was far more well known than Iron Man was before his movie. So she's ahead of the game already. :woot:

I agree. Just took forever to get her on the big screen.

And, it honestly surprises me that there never was a Wonder Woman: The Animated Series what with her being a big part of the trinity and how popular Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman series was. And if they do start thinking of making an animated series starting her, for the love of God, get a good team behind it. The current Wonder Woman from the recent JL animated movies and that JL Action series is honestly unwatchable to me.

I'm just hoping this isssh is better than Rises. I still violently place my drink over that bluray and use it as a coaster.

Bruce Timm has said that he regretted not doing a WW series before JL.

They should get the team behind the first animated WW film. That was great.

True, and even more so outside of the U.S.. The likes of Superman, Batman, Spider-man, Hulk and Wonder Woman have always been well known but I don't think I've ever heard a reference in U.K. (non-geek) media to Iron Man in my whole life (before the film was a thing). The original Iron Man film created something bigger than the character though with his snark, sarcasm and rebellious nature, not acting how a regular hero (or anti-hero) was supposed to act. So while this WW film sounds like it is capitalising on all that makes the character great, that film made Iron Man even bigger than he was.

Well, I caved in and got my ticket for Thursday night. The theater I'm going to is playing Captain Underpants at 5 that night, which I might see for a warm-up.

They should. And I'm glad Bruce Timm did not. WW is bae, but I found every single WW-focused JL/JLU episode utterly dull. I don't think he would've delivered like he did with STAS, BTAS, and GLTAS.

It's nice to see GLTAS mentioned along with those. Such and underrated series, imo.

And yes, get the team behind the WW animated film to do a series, that would be awesome.

So I may be able to see the movie a day earlier now. :D

I'm so excited to see this. And I'm truly happy for Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot.

She is an incredible actress though. So, is it her fault?
She is a good actress but no one forced her to be in some of the duds she was in. And since you claim you saw everything with her you sat through Womb and Salvation. It's a shame that an actual great movie with her Perfect Sense didn't become successful. That's my point - I'm saying her and Hammer kinda signify to me the film they are in won't get far for whatever reason.

When that DC logo appears at the start of the movie, it's gonna be a happy day.

I am very happy for the critical success. Gal Gadot, DC, WB, Snyder, all the women deserved it.
I think that now JL has really very good chances to do well.

I'm with you on that. Their characterisation of Wonder Woman is the main reason I gave up on watching them.

Is Captain Marvel coming out in 2019? I would push for a 2020 WW2, let Patty do something she wants first.

Batgirl for 2019 in the same year as Batman, or GCS for a first female team up movie, or both?

Not to get too ahead of ourselves here, but assuming WB is smart enough to keep Patty on board for a sequel, lets get this Monster reunion going...

Any character. All the characters. I've been hoping for Charlize as Catwoman, but wouldn't be opposed to her playing a woman-cat either. :o

She could play Priscilla Rich, the original Cheetah who just wore a costume. Charlize even looks like her. Sofia Boutella could play Barbara Minerva, the one who mutated.

And great to see WW getting good reviews and a high RT score.

I'm so glad that now it's Captain Marvel that will have to live up to Wonder Woman, and not the other way round. The first big female superhero movie ought to be the iconic Wonder Woman. I wouldn't have liked it if the reviews for this film had been bad, and then in a few years time the critics were talking about how Capt Marvel got everything right that WW didn't.

Anyway, Marvel can't be complacent now with that property. I do wonder though if Ike Perlmutter had still be in charge and was against female-led properties what he would've thought if he saw WW doing well and being highly praised. Would he have changed his stance or still thought that female CBMs are not for them?

I'm also wondering if I should go to a matinee. It's cheaper than the evening and will be less crowded. It's just that it's in the middle of the working day. It's either over lunch time or after lunch which is when you typically start feeling a bit sleepy. I want to be fully awake for this movie.
