Lack of deleted scenes usually hints at smooth production. Means majority of it worked as planned. It doesn't automatically mean it's good or bad, just everything went according to plan (assuming there was one) and the result is satisfying for those responsible.

Massive amount of footage usually hints at troubled production. But the history knows quite a number of great examples, when troubled productions resulted in fantastic movies. Of course, some directors work in a certain fashion, when they film insane amount of material and then edit it down. Usually applies to low-budget filmmaking.

They're trying to ban Wonder Woman in Lebanon again, because of Gal Gadot. It's not all people, to be clear.

Not really surprised. When Sleeping Beauty they banned it because the horse was named Samson and that's a Jewish name :whatever:

I think that is an oversimplication. Some directors shoot tons of footage (as hasbeen pointed out already) for various reasons. Rob Reiner has been known to do that. The "You Cant Handle The Truth" scene took hours to film.

Some directors use live scenes as a form of rehearsal and as such they take dozens, if not hundreds of shots to get even a a few minutes of film. That doesnt mean the filming is a mess or troubled, it just means that is their process.

Of course the opposite is true as well and lots of cutting room floor scenes can prove to be a sign of a mess depending on the director. There are pluses and minuses to both depending on the style and the story.

I think you're talking about something else. Unrelated to the topic.

Is there going to be a European press tour? I know London was cancelled (which I think is a shame... best thing to do would have been to stick a finger up and carry on but hey ho) but is there going to be a premiere anywhere else??

You are right. But there are always outliers etc. For eg : there were a few deleted scenes from Logan, and I agree that none of them should have been in the movie. Cant say that for Avengers.Sometimes its prudent to cut scenes to tighten it up.

But what do I know. We are all just armchair experts :cwink:

No I am not...lack of deleted scenes/lots of deleted scenes (which is doesnt represent anything. (unlike what you say in your post) Plenty of great movies have dvds full of deleted stuff. It is all about how the director chooses to find his/her vision.

Israeli reviews from a big movie site:

Well, this exceeded expectations!

Just to clarify, after previous DC films I was expecting a nuclear catastrophe, so "exceeding" wasn't that hard.

The good news is that this the best DCEU movie and the best female superhero movie ever. The bad news is that both titels are not that impressive. So yeah, this movie was alright. It's not bad, It's not a disaster, the movie is doing it's own thing, and that's sort of an accomplishment I guess. Is it great? Not realy. Parts of the movie are nice, some are completely ridiculous. Particuly hate the way they ruinied every great action scene with idiotic speed-ramping. Parts of the story require you shutting your brain off, and I think they rewrote the ending. And of course, there's the thing that if you ignore that fact that this a unique female-centric movie, you're left with a pretty much ordinary origin story.

So yeah, the movie got problems, but no "Martha" kind of problems. Unlike other movies in this universe, this movie makes sure that Wonder Woman is under positive light. She's *good* and Gal Gadot is doing a great job at portraying her (Even if her accent made me cringe). Finally, a female superhero movie is here and it's even kinda not bad! HURRAY!

Yup. It's like the first Cap movie (for couple of reasons) - it's not a bad movie but there's nothing special about it. A good origin story, pretty much. And yes, the best DCEU/Female superhero movie, when the competition is not that hard. But with DC's track record, a good time in the theater is already a progress.

Difficult to take someone's ability to analyze something seriously if they complain about Gadot's accent

I just had someone put forth the "WW is getting no marketing" meme on Facebook. The replies are hilarious (especially the pictures in Time Square) but seriously people still believe this.

I think its regional

I live in the northeast and haven't seen a lot of TV spots, print ads, most of what Ive seen has been online

the movie theater I go to has Tshirts for sale tho

Well why should Wonder Woman sound American, for someone who's never been to America before or brought up by Americans and doesn't have American TV shows on Themyscira??

I remember in a video commenting on the Japanese reaction to the Ghost in the Shell movie, some said it was a relief that Beat Takeshi did not try to speak in English so they were spared hearing him English with a terrible accent.

I haven't seen Ghost in The Shell but I liked him in Johnny Mnemonic.

As an Indian I can confirm that listening to Indian actors putting on an American accent in Hollywood movies is very cringey. It just feels weird listening to it.

people are really intrigued by Ares. That "Ares vs Wonder woman" spot (which showed like 0.2 seconds of Ares) got like 800k views in just a day. I hope he delivers in the actual movie
