I don't see how, given that Wonder Woman was already well into production when BvS was released.

True, even if minor changes were made during production/editing phases I think the audience expectation / reception might play into it a bit...maybe this was absolute gold when compared to the subpar titles we sat through last year? Maybe our expectations were already low based on those and this was a pleasant surprise? Obviously it's a great movie regardless of the context around it, but it must relate at least a little.

I don't know if I can make it to a matinee. Even today at this hour I'm feeling really sleepy and struggling to stay awake after lunch. This would be the same time that the movie would be playing.

Well Travers hasnt been posted yet but it is at 12/12 on the Top critics and 54/56 overall :)

Critics are sure taking their own time posting the reviews on RT.

From the trailers, this movie takes place after BVS when she got her pic back???

Then it flashes back to WW1 before MOS.

For the people who saw it, is that right????

FlickChick and Tra-El did say that Travers ended his review on a positive note so there's a chance that he'll recommend it to viewers which means another fresh one on RT !!!!!!

2.5/4 from Travers? Interesting... He gave 3/4 for both MoS and BvS while SS for 1/4.

I agree with Marvelo? who said DC really should have changed their slate of film releases.

Following up Man of Steel with Wonder Woman and the solo Batman film would have been a great compare and contrast.

Man of Steel being a hero learning his place in the world. Wonder Woman would have shown a hero in a less cynical world. Batman film would have shown us what a hero looks like when he starts to break. Then BvS could have been the film that shown how all three have to choose their path. Superman resists completely breaking down and instead remains a hero. Batman becomes inspired by Superman. Wonder Woman realizes just how much this world needs someone like her.

It would have been a great setup for the more hopeful and positive Justice League movie.

Oh well.

I am very happy, especially as a Marvel fan, that Wonder Woman has been reviewed well. My concern is how much of this "pro feminism" or "girl power" angle is skewing some critics from being objective of its downfalls.

With that said, I'll be watching it when it comes out and if its the equivalent of the first Cap movie, which I actually LOVE, then I'll be a very happy comic book fan. I wanted this movie to be good since I am a sucker for WW1 and WWII settings.

Cheers to DC fans!

Hmmm.. it doesn't matter, though, if it ends on a positive note. RT is determined on ratings. They give a rating, and below a certain rating is considered rotten.

(At least that's what Mark Ellis said a year or two ago)

Actually, the reviewer gets to decide whether the film is fresh or rotten regardless of the rating.

They can give a film 3/5 and still not recommend it. Or recommend a movie that they gave 1/5...

Does it really matter, anymore than say, a movie being funny or fun or part of a popular franchise/universe might sway critics in that regard?

Huh. I think a 2.5/4 on RT can mean different in terms recommendations when coming from different critics.

If its a good movie its a good movie, I agree. Just going over the positive reviews and I notice this trend while forgiving some glaring shortcomings. Like I said, it seems like it'll be a solid film overall, I think the tomato meter might be too high since even as a Marvel fan I think TDK is one of the top movies of the genre and having this film be the same score seems odd. It's just a funny observation to me.

Either way, I'll be there watching WW when its out.:woot:

Tomatometer will probably drop a good 5% or so once we get well into the hundreds. 54 reviews is still a pretty small sample size.

Man, I wish this came out before BvS. BvS probably would have ended up being a better and more coherent movie, and that Wonder Woman scene would have been a million times cooler especially with her music playing and everything.

Would be down for that minus the Batman solo. BvS already does that.
