This was an awesome movie!! It was so good! Definitely shed a few manly tears during the movie!

The No Man's Land scene was the best in the movie to me. It showed what the value of a superhero in war time can be--inspiration to strive to be more than just an order-taker, and stand for humanity. It was brilliant.

Or anytime, really. One thing I liked about the scene was how it undermined the whole "villains act, heroes react" idea that has developed over the years.

There is incredible evil happening there in the trenches, but no one is individually responsible, it's just a quagmire and endless slaughter.

It's the hero who acts to change that.

Overall, I thought that this movie had a interesting dynamic in the sense that Diana believes there is a villain responsible for everything, in the background, but part of the story is her realization that that is not really true.

Technically, yes, the villain is part of it, but there is something more essential that she is called to combat.

Gal is getting more love from mcu actors than DCEU actors. Quick, someone start a clickbait article. :sly:

All the goodwill from the MCU actors is unfortunately dampened somewhat by Chris Pine's idiotic comment regarding Infinity War, though.

He seems to think the title means "Endless War."

I'm *shocked* he doesn't know it means the characters will be fighting over very powerful gemstones tied to the fundamental properties of the universe...

Seems self-explanatory to me :yay:

Infinity stones have only been showing up in just about every MCU movie ever released. I guess he didn't watch any of them.

From an action POV, yes there are more impressive sequences. However, the strength of the No Man's Land sequence is in it's emotional beats.

They're trudging towards the front. Diana wants to help with some horses. She's told no. She wants to help a wounded soldier. She's again told no. They get in the trenches, only for Diana to learn that the village across the way is being held hostage. When she once again vocalizes her desire to help, she is told that she cannot cross No Man's Land. She is told that men have spent the last year stuck in the exact same spots killing each other with no end in sight. She's told to let it drop, because it's a helpless and hopeless situation.

And without missing a beat, she basically tells Steve off, ascends from the trench, and marches her way forward. She gives hope in a hopeless situation, and help in a helpless situation. She had enough with standing by and did something when she was told there was nothing she could do.

This sequence was one of the film's most euphoric moments.

Not "one of", in my opinion. It's definitely the film's most euphoric moment. I was holding back tears. Such a beautiful scene that will go down as one of my favorite moments in any superhero movie. Really the biggest flaw for this film, in my eyes, is that it peaks in the second act. Nothing beats this scene.

Never have I seen a CBM get this much praise from fans, critics, and celebrities themselves. It truly is something to behold.

As if RDJ hasn't said equally asinine things about the DCEU.

What did he say?

He was talking about how it's difficult to do something new in the genre. We usually just see cities being destroyed, and so on.

And then, referencing the upcoming Avengers movie, a rhetorical question, "Really? We need more war for all time?"

I think it was kinda funny actually. The last big flick was Civil War, now there's another War. He's a very sardonic guy off camera.

You think he would be more of a nerd being in those Star Trek movies.:o

I actually like how Anthony Hopkins responds these days, when asked about his role in one of these movies. It's usually just some version of "I have no idea." :woot:

Why exactly was it idiotic?

He doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of the superhero genre in general and just uses the title in a literal sense as a reference to elucidate his point of view.

Now as a guy who reads comic books and enjoys superhero movies, I have a different opinion to him but by no means is his statement idiotic. It's not 'Company A makes better movies than B'.

After watching Wonder Woman you'd think people would appreciate the fact that most things aren't strictly black and white.

I actually appreciate the honesty in his response and the fact that he doesn't hide the fact he isn't a fan of superhero films or a fan of comic books in general. It's a more honest response than the typical vanilla "I've been a fan of X superhero my whole live, and I've been wanting to be a part of X ever since I was a kid" type of response.

Yeah, Chris Pine is not the kind of actor who likes superhero movies in general, I cannot imagine him ever auditioning for Green Lantern or Captain America (or some other Marvel hero)

He agreed to play Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman movie because he thought it was an interesting role in a movie that was a bit different from other comic book movies.

This is not the case of Apple Vs Microsoft here. (or Marvel Vs DC)

Chris Pine was reported to have signed a multi-picture deal wasn't he? Unless there was a change in the contract we should see him again in some capacity. Maybe in a flashback or something.

This flick did make me care about Steve.
I wish he had that auto pilot like Bruce did in Rises. :csad:
Lois can die in JL, and would not care for her
like I did Steve
.

Is the spoiler tag disabled? The movie has only been out for 4 days. I've seen but others haven't.

Sony did that with Willem Dafoe. We might see that Wondy still has feelings for Steve and spends a great deal of time thinking about him. For that matter, we might see her seeking advice from him in her thoughts or asking permission to love someone else.

You mean like Clark talking to his dead father? :cwink:

Why do you need someone to go with you to the movies? Going to the theater solo can be just as fun as going with a group.

Just a comfort thing.

I prefer to be in a packed theater along with people that I know so I can talk about the movie after. Usually my sister is that person, but she refuses for this one.
