Why is telling a full story about one character settling, while Justice League is an endgame?

Because it's expected by everyone that she would automatically do the sequel.

Why can't she take a shot at the big boy?

I've seen a lot of conflicting ideas over the years regarding this topic. Which is understandable, certainly, given the complexity of the issues involved.

It seems to me that there are at least two important points that create tension with one another.

The first is the modern tendency to objectify female characters, especially in genre flims and tv shows, with tight and/or revealing outfits for no other reason than to pander to young men and adolescent boys in the audience.

The second is the older mysogynistic tendency of concealing and suppressing female sexuality, partly by literally covering it up with clothes, veils and so on.

With those two things in mind, I think it's easy to see why opinions on the topic might be conflicted.

Anyway, I think this movie made the right choice. WW's outfit felt like a natural extension of the Amazonian warrior culture, and certainly not something that was being forced on her by an oppressive male gaze.

I can definitely see the conflicting opinions regarding this I was just stating mine :)

I think just from the posters you can see they avoided objectifying her and just selling her on being a hot babe. When compared to posters presenting females there is usually that silly booty or breast shot and here they really avoided this and I think that alone makes you see how much respect they have for the character whether she wears a skirt or not.

This movie made me tear up on a number of occasions.

I basically agree. I was not disagreeing, but rather simply presenting some additional discussion points .

WB definitely needs to set a sequel for 2019/2020. Don't be pulling that Star Trek crap with me and have us wait 5/6 years between.
i dont even think DC now what's they are doin

they gotta put a sequel to this movie, Suicide squad need one,
-u gotta put harley & joker somewhere
-a Batman Movie with batfleck
a Superman sequel (?)
introduce green lantern
Justice league 2 with darkseid(?)

& all that need to follow the story of the universe they are makin

Still haven't seen it yet. Can't get anyone to go with me - not even my sister believe it or not.

Dying to review it and confirm if it's actually a solid movie or if it just appears that way because of how poor the other DCEU entries were. Guess I'll just have to do an afternoon showing by myself.
Why do you need someone to go with you to the movies? Going to the theater solo can be just as fun as going with a group.

That's the quandary they've put themselves in by forgoing a more streamlined franchise focus and doing too many off-shoots or team-up films so early in their universe building.

You guys, that was something special :hrt: So amazing. I also got a little teary eyed a few times. Some beautiful moments. You wanna talk epic? No Man's Land baby. Just wow.

I can only hope that Wonder Woman is given the room to shine so brightly in JL. It does at least appear that the movie is in large part a Wonder Woman/Batman buddy movie, which promises that she is.

Oscar Buzz for WW

Academy members saw #WonderWoman last night and it actually has some (very) early Oscar buzz https://t.co/rhPf27pSsK

What if she only likes Wonder Woman? Nobody says Nolan settled for TDK because he didn't make a Justice League movie.

Man, I can't even count the number of times I teared up.

There were at least two or three occasions where I caught myself choking up and struggling to hold back some very real grown man tears. It reminded me of Raiders, one of my all time favorite films.

Pine was great. I have no opinion on the man and can hardly even remember him in the Stark Trek films, but the guy is very good in this role and great with Gal.

Because she wants to do the sequel:

“I’m not a big obligation person when it comes to art. You want to do a movie like this because you believe in it. Then I had this revelation in the middle of the night: this is your dream cast, you’ve created a character that you love and you can say anything you want in the world right now. Then I realized that Wonder Woman 2 is its own great movie. I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. It’s a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love.”

There was a real sense of awe to the whole movie. It reminded me of Raiders, one of my all time favorite films.
Very much so. Indiana Jones was an inspiration for the film I believe. The way Patty Jenkins shifted from setting to setting was great. Themyscira was just jaw droppingly beautiful and then war ravaged Europe was gritty and full of darker grey tones. This is how you balance a film WB executives.

I also liked the Greek Myth exposition sequence. Beautifully done.

Because going to the movies all by yourself makes you look pathetic. :o

But seriously, I'm too timid to go alone.

Yup. The movie felt like Spielberg at his best.

In some ways it was a better Captain America film than the First Avenger, and I say that as someone who loves the First Avenger.

A far better Cap and Thor film and I too love The First Avenger.

I really didn't expect Wonder Woman to impact me the way it did, but seeing a confident, powerful woman save the day was really beautiful.

wonder woman set to break box office records? yes. yes. yes.

You do know that her armor set are gifts from the gods right and they weren't meant to leave the island?

I don't know about "never leave the island". I imagine the amazons were expected to have *some* circumstances where they'd leave and do stuff.

That said, I wonder if the armor, and many of the other artifacts, were left in the safekeeping of the Amazons *specifically* so they could be used by Diana when she came off age. Which is to say, they weren't intended as just random gifts, but as the divine birthright of Diana.
