Costume design nod would be a good chance, maybe the sounds datergoies too. Not much else I can think of.

Tons of historical movies getting released late this year. They love that s****. But hell, i'd nominate WW for that blue dress alone.

Cinematography? Not sure about that one though.

I didn't think the cinematography was all that special.

The only Academy Awards that Wonder Woman will likely be nominated in and potentially win would be stuff like visual effects and sound, hopefully cinematography as this is an incredible looking film. What I want is Academy Award wins for cinematography and costume design. I think that would be more realistic.

I love Gal Gadot's performance in WW from the bottom of my heart I do, but it's an almost certainty that she won't get nominated for best actress at the Oscars. Now, Saturn Awards and stuff like that? Sure. Here's hoping.

I think, for an actor or actress to be nominated for best actor/ actress for a comic book movie, it would have to be a drama that just happens to be set in a comic book universe, rather than an actual action-orientated superhero movie.

So it would be something more like Carol Danvers's drinking problem and her deterioration as a person, rather than just for playing a superhero. Or if they did a Peggy Carter movie about her descent into dementia. It's this sort of performance the academy seems to go for.

Well I only liked it in Themyscira. For many parts in the rest of the movie I couldn't see a damn thing! :argh:

Ok that is awesome indeed. And I loved that Patty let him choose his wardrobe. THAT is how you do representation of other cultures, Hollywood. Take note.

Yes, very good call that if they want authentic.

Hopefully many more daytime scenes in the sequel.

I seriously think people are making a bigger deal about justififying this than they need to.

:/ You literally wanted a reason - you got a solid reason, and now it's someone "justifying" it.

Can't help someone who can't see I suppose.

As for the oscar talk, this isn't an oscar level movie, and trust me when I rate this one of the best CBM's of all time, (BB/TDK/TDKR / WW / IM 1 / Logan ) is in that boat, and only one out of all those imo has been worthy of an oscar nod (TDK).

WW misses a lot more character development for multiple characters that I think most Oscar nominated movies need. Outside of WW/ST, this movie needed to develop it's supporting cast quite a bit more, while still having that same feeling it has imo, which is no easy feat, still an amazing movie, but I actually think the sequel to this will have some high potential of being an Oscar nominated film.

Honestly, it depends on how the next six months shape up. If it turns out to be a weak crop of Oscar-bait films this year, then WW may have a shot at filling one of the nine Best Picture slots. If WB is serious about giving this film a push, they'll need to hold more Academy screenings at the end of the year to keep the film fresh in the minds of voters.

Have a very hard time seeing Jenkins or Gadot ending up with nominations though. Five slots each for Director and Actress. Far too competitive for either of them to have a realistic shot. I'd be stunned if either of them landed one, and I don't mean that as an insult.

Me personally, I wouldn't hold my breath on anything outside of the tech categories. But then again the Academy is weird, and just when you think they're too predictable they pull some off-the-wall ****. A hopeful, female empowering film with strong production values? Stranger things have happened.

Picture may not get nomination for Best Picture, or Cinematography or best musical score but Gal has a chance of getting nominated if other entries are not very solid.

Though I don't think she has any chance of winning it.

Maybe a WW sequel might be more successful at the Oscars. LOTR only managed best picture by its third movie. Did it even get any nominations for acting?

Ian McKellen in film one. I wouldnt get our hopes up too much. I feel Logan is still the more likely film to get any serious attention. But then again Deadpool wasn't too far off, so what the hell do I know?

By the time it's ceremony time Logan would have premiered a year ago, sadly. And Hugh has another movie in the race one that is far more likely to score nominations and maybe wins so Logan is not gonna get anything I think ;(

The only time I could see Gal winning an acting award at the Oscars is if she completely plays against type or is playing someone with some disability or addiction. That's who all the major acting awards always go to. Since there was none of this in WW, it would get overlooked by those playing someone with a problem.

Look at Meryl Streep. She usually is a chameleon and completely immerses herself in the role. Look at how Charlize Theron won that Oscar for Monster. She was not playing her usual self at all and completely transformed her look.

If Gal ever were to win, she would probably not do so by looking attractive but completely changing her appearance and personality so that she is virtually unrecognisable. That just seems to be what they like.

I dont see any continuity issues between BvS and WW. They didn't contradict anything and it complements each other very well. When Diana said she walked away from mankind it meant she wasnt a public hero and she left mankind to make its own course. And thats what she did. Simple really.
Makes sense to me.

That Adams and Chastain are bland. That's what I'm "getting at" here.

Welp you must be posting from an alternate Earth, because the Adams and Chastain we have here are fantastic and a cut above most cast in superhero movies, including the DCEU's Batman and Superman, to say the least.

Theron, Blanchett, Moore, Kidman, Weisz, Winslet, lots of wonderful actresses out there with charisma and talent...and if Chastain wasn't doing "over the top shtick" than I don't know what she was doing in Crimson Peak...Adams at least has The Master, Her and Junebug. Chastain was admittedly amazing in The Help.

Chastain was also great in Zero Dark Thirty, The Debt, Tree of Life, and just about the only actor who came out of Crimson Peak looking good.

Adams also had an amazing one-two punch last year with Nocturnal Animals and Arrival, two of the best movies from 2016.

Amy Adams is a top actress and very charming, but not my 100% ideal pick for Lois. She is fine playing her, but I don't think it's an absolutely nailed casting.

They should've flipped that image so Thor is on the left of the pic, since you read from left to right. It took a second read to realise that he's actually meant to be the one speaking first and not Diana.

"I am sure we will be seeing a lot more of Diana," a Warner Bros. exec says when asked about a #wonderwoman sequel. Mum on details, though.

What does she mean? WW popping up in cameos in other movies? Or a definite sequel?

We should just have the WW cinematic universe. :o

I don't think there's a chance for her to even get nominated. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the movie (seen it three times already) but her acting, although good, was at times like she was trying too hard. Like when
she comes back to the village after they've all been killed and she holds her head with both hands, it looked so exaggerated to me
or she sometimes threw her arms back a bit too much in my opinion, like posing. It didn't feel natural. Some of her expressions were a bit off sometimes. Again, this is all nitpicking from me and it didn't ruin the movie at all, but best actress nomination? No way. I would love it though just so we could say... Academy Award Winner Suicide Squad and Academy Award Winner Wonder Woman XD. Everyone *****ing she couldn't act (when she was cast) and then getting an oscar....would be amazing :woot:

I think Golden Globes are more likely than an Oscar atm

Hell Ryan Reynolds got nominated for DP
