All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 25

I fear they are bowing up this balloon too much too fast. :woot:

The universe might implode. :csad:

Of course if the movies end up being good, I won't mind at all. The fact that David Ayer is still involved doesn't fill me with confidence though. I couldn't care less about Cyborg but maybe he will find a market out there. I love Black Adam so I am eager to see him on the big screen but at this point I doubt the Shazam! movie is getting made at all. We've had no updates on that one.

I am concerned about David Ayer too but maybe my fears will be assuaged when he rocks on to the Comic Con stage and declares, "Gotham City Sirens, yo! #swag" *mic drop*

Not soon enough. There was this 70s inspired WW from a while back that I would've loved to seen as a show.
You mean like this?

I wouldn't want it to be campy though I want it to be taken as seriously as Batman tas with a animation style similar to Cliff Chiang's WW.

Probably another 10+ years. WB is still anti female dtvs. If they didn't bother releasing one to coordinate with the film, i doubt they'll do one anytime soon.
I hope not. It is a gold mine for merchandising. You'd think WB would be smarter.
After every Batman story ever told gets an animated feature
Ugh....:oldrazz:

The trailer for 'Professor Marston & The Wonder Women" has been released (about WW creator William Moulton Marston):

In all honesty if WB decided to scrap Gotham City Sirens and SS 2, I wouldn't care. There are other characters I'd rather see on screen.

We already have more than enough movies with male characters, so I can't see the point of any of them getting a movie other than the ones already in the pike. Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy are some
of the biggest female characters DC has along with Batgirl, who is also getting a movie. Unless you are thinking Supergirl I can't imagine any other characters that should get a movie over them. WB would be stupid
to pass on a movie featuring more female characters.

What I find ironic is that for years people *****ed that movies like Wonder Woman didnt get made because WB only made movies that were guaranteed to be hits like Superman and Batman. Now WW fans are saying to scrap Cyborg and Shazam and make WW2 first because it will be a hit building off the momentum.

2020 is just fine. Gives them plenty of time to write a great script, film it and hype it to high heaven. This is just more over worrying by the people around here that feel everything is some proof that Wonder Woman is doomed. They have been doing it since the movie was announced whether it was the lack of press release, the bs rumors, the lack of marketing, the low early tracking...etc.

Hell no to scrapping Shazam. I want to see those characters on the big screen very badly.

Exactly. And the script is key. Plus, despite how competent the team behind WW is, rushing out a sequel could give us something akin to Iron Man 2 which, while not a terrible film, was a mere two years after the first one and certainly isn't as highly regarded as the original, not to mention how much of a commercial it was for The Avengers.

Again, not saying a WW sequel would be in a similar predicament, but there's no need to rush it.

June 2020 would be great, if that does turn out to be the slot for the sequel.

It would be very cool if that ends up being announced this weekend.

Was one of the dates Valentine's Day? If so I have a sneaky suspicion that will be the date. With the high amount of females that have helped this dominate the box office and the liklihood it would be untouched for a couple weeks after that that could be a nice little extra boost for the first quarter. I mean WW is all about love...and this would be an awesome date movie!

Then you have June 2020 be MOS2 just because I am greedy :)

Seconded. I've wanted to see Captain Marvel done right since the atrocious Saturday morning TV show (which I still watched because what else could you do and besides Isis was pretty smokin' :woot:).

I disagree.

3 year gap between CA:TFA to CA:WS
3 year gap between Avengers to AoU
3 year gap between GotG Vol 1 to GotG Vol 2

And better three years and a good movie, than two years and rushed botched movie. Which, given a sequel wasn't even greenlit until some time after the movie came out? A two year turnaround would almost certainly be rushed.

Well Star Trek 2009 lost momentum after waiting for 4 years for the sequel.

And the point is also that do we really need Cyborg or Black Adam etc before we get WW2, just because WB/DC already thought of making those? WW2 is more of a sure bet than Cyborg.

While I think three years is fine, I kind of question your premise. I don't think WB *needs* to make those movies before WW2, because I don't think WB needs to make those movies, period. One is an afterthought solo movie, the other is. . . a good idea with so much chance to go terribly wrong. Ideally, WB should pass on making both, unless Cyborg is the unexpected surprise favorite in JL. If it wants to make a Shazam movie, make a Shazam movie.

Outside of what-ever comic book fans they have, does anyone really care about either of those two? I think WB would have better luck remaking a Catwoman and a Supergirl movie than those two.
At least most people have heard of Catwoman and Supergirl and those two deserve a good movie instead of the crap-fest they got the first time around.

I think the problem with those movies goes deeper than name recognition.

In the case of Cyborg, he's not just unknown to the public, he's also the victim of a badly conceived revamp that stripped him of almost all his own history. Even a character like the Martian Manhunter, who is super unknown to the general public, at least has a fairly long comic history with a lot of stories and characterization bits to draw from. Cyborg? He *had* such. . . until the Nu52 decided to drop it all in a trash can, and start basically from scratch. Making a movie out of him would be like high wire without a net, since the writers couldn't draw from a rich preexisting mythos.

In the case of Black Adam. . . okay, I like the character. When he's done good, he's good. He's also the traditional villain of Captain Marvel, who they talk of giving his own movie *before* Captain Marvel. It reeks of "darker edgier", and outright bumping the actual main character of the story because they don't want to tell a story about an idealistic hero. And if that is the underlying motive, I can't really see them achieving anything good with Black Adam, either.

I tend to think they should do so, along with Cyborg, Shazam, Black Adam, Green Lantern Corps, and most of the other "no info no release date no care" titles. Aside from the already well along Aquaman, focus on the movies with clear demand, or at least clear interest on the part of WB: Wonder Woman 2, The Batman, and I suppose Batgirl. By the time they have Aquaman out, they should have a better idea what else should follow from there.

I'll have to disagree on Shazam, Black Adam and especially Green Lantern. GL is my favorite character and inhabits my favorite section of the DC universe and I need to see it redeemed. I'm definitely not alone in feeling that way.

I like Shazam too, but I want to see more evidence of WB's new leaf before I want them taking a swing at a movie about probably the most 100% idealistic and optimistic superhero ever.

As for Green Lantern, I'm fine with it happening eventually, I just think it should wait until they actually have a really solid idea what they want to do with it. If you wanted to add it as the next movie right after the four I mentioned, or alongside the last one, sure.

If we are merely going by demand, I think there is more demand for a Harley Quinn sequel than there is for a Batgirl movie, just based on Harley Quinn
being a much more popular character than Batgirl and how well Harley Quinn was received in Suicide Squad.
