Civil War Along Came a Spider - The Peter Parker / Spider-Man Thread

i guess it depends on how much work and supporting cast the first movie will have. they managed to pull it off with the Harry Potter cast and they were much younger when they started.

Spider-Man really isn't an ensemble kind of movie.

I recall Columbus saying it was very difficult when they were younger. Not only did they have the hours to work around but he could get about 3 takes from them before they got bored nd it over for them for the day. It was his great veteran cast that carried those kids, at least in the first few movies, and made the movies entertaining.

Not to mention they're going to need him for Civil War shooting either this month or July at the latest... Or one would think, if he's even in the movie! :sus Still, technically, no confirmation from Marvel or Sony on that! :D

Feige said they already did the suit which they wouldn't need to have done if he wasn't in the movie. But they're filming until Sept and he probably has about a week or two of work at most, they have time to cast.

I would be very happy with Asa butterfield.

This.

I'm also glad they're going with a younger Spider-Man this time around. It'll be an interesting dynamic against the rest of the Avengers adult cast..

Ehh
Butterfield is as young as they should go, imo, although I'd prefer 19
18 lets him grow into the role and stick around for a while, without being as god-awful in the acting department as most young children are

College-age Spider-man >>>> teen Spider-man anyway :o

Maybe he was just talking about the future. It IS the MCU after all, and they really like to think ahead a few years. My bet is Peter doesn't even suit up in Civil War and has a very minor supporting role at best. That is what I am hoping; let him do his thing in July 2017

I really doubt that. The big negotiated get for this movie is having Spider-man in a cameo - not Peter Parker.

Well for general audiences, Peter Parker is Spiderman. And most news sources cater to the GA, not the fanbase. They want people to know that the character will be in the movie, and the name "Peter Parker" doesn't mean a thing to them

Peter Parker has been appearing on tv and in films for years. Most people know who he is. But agree everyone would want him to be suited.

How long is there left for the Civil War shoot? We haven't even cast Spidey, i'm unsure if he will appear. If he does it might be quite brief.

I think they are shooting till September or something like that. It is kind of well-known that Peter will have a very small role, especially since they haven't even cast him yet and we are already this deep into production

Knowing that they are still in the process of casting Spidey pretty much confirms his appearance in CW won't be much more than a glorified cameo.

Well the Russos present for the tests says it could easily be more IMO.

Though may be due to having no director on the solo yet, so they (Feige, Pascal) need minds like theirs around.

People act as if Spider-man is not getting his OWN movie in 2017! Spidey doesn't need a massive role in Civil War as long as his Solo flick is awesome. I'm starting think people are more excited to see Spidey in this, than for his solo adventure. lol

Oh believe me I'm more excited for his solo the last time I saw a awesome Spider-Man movie was in 2004 SM2, but I wouldn't mind if CW sets up his solo. with all this talk about Red Hulk/Ross what if the person behind Ross coming back forming The Thunderbolts if he does that, is none other than Norman Osborn.

^This

And also, there is Infinity War to look forward to. THAT is what the solo film will be leading up to, and that is more or less the focal point of the deal back in February

A massive role was never on the table, the question is will it be a good sized supporting role, a short 5 -10 minute supporting role, or a 1 minute cameo. My guess 5-10 minutes with much of that him being part of the SH crowd.

The entire point of having him in this movie for Sony is that he makes a really good impression that will lead to much needed positive buzz for his next solo since the last was so disappointing and the series has been in serious decline in box office admissions and $. Marvel want to highlight his inclusion in the MCU and to sell more Spider-man merchandise. since even though Feige will be producing the solo they get no $ from the film tself.

People are more excited because we've already FIVE solo movies with his usual supporting cast (some even repeated) but we've never seen him as part of the larger Marvel universe interacting with characters that's he's interacted with in the comics for decades. Who does want to see him with Cap or Tony or even Ant-Man more than they want to see him with another MJ or Gwen or Harry again?

It seems that Marvel are calling the shots for the casting, gives good vibes, maybe Sony will give them the reigns of the solo movie too

But that's the thing, In the SONY/MARVEL deal MCU characters can be placed into his SOLO flick. And it sounds more and more like that's what their going to do so they don't NEED necessarily to advertise him in Civil War. They could call his solo slick Spider-man vs Iron-man: Path of Justice! instant billion dollars! or Spider-Man: The New Avenger Returns Home To Marvel Studios Beginning of Freshman Year First Semester Period 1 Part 1!

Sounds like you loved the pitched deadpool title of "Deadpool: Rise of the Dawn of the Return of the subtitle".... Which I did too

Marvel isn't getting any of the money from the box office of Spider-man so how does it benefit them financially to make the Spider-Man movie bigger with their characters and stars? Great for Sony but Marvel want this deal to benefit THEIR movies where they get all the box office money.

They get Spidey for Civil War and Both Infinity Wars, that's more than worth it. And who knows what else they have planned. That's like getting a billion dollar character for Marvel's biggest movies!

It won't be a cameo. They didn't make all this fuss for taking Spidey, aka Marvel's biggest character just to put him into a cameo. He will be there for at least 10 minutes. Maybe 15-20.
