Question regarding Maeve…
How exactly DID she survive? If I understand it right, Soldier Boy’s blast immediately nullifies a supe’s powers, hence why Kimiko was seriously injured when it happened to her. So shouldn’t the fall have killed Maeve? Still a great finale and great scene but she should have been powerless about half way down when he exploded.
Immediate reaction is that this was the best season out of the 3. I feel like the acting was even better, the character arcs were better, the villains were better, and the analogies while still present weren't so middle school English-y.
On the finale itself, while it was good, I feel was one of the weaker episodes. I liked the final battle but I think everything lacked consequences. Some characters forgave way too easily that made all of the bickering throughout the season feel a bit toothless. Honestly felt a bit MCU-ish. I didn't read any fan theories so I didn't have an ideas or expectations in my head, but still.
-Annie forgiving Hughie. They should've broken up. Not saying that had to hate each other, but the way Hughie acted was enough that I think should've warranted that.
-The whole team forgiving Butcher and Hughie. Yes they had their reasons, but the team shouldn't have accepted them back just like *snap* that.
-Maeve's fate. She should've died. Nothing against the character, but it kinda cheapened her sacrifice.
-Soldier Boy should either be active or dead.
-Hell even MM punching out the dumb stepdad. Nothing really happened there. It's not like MM's ex got super mad from what we saw and the daughter wasn't that scared. Should've carried it into the next season. Also speaking of MM, I wish he got more of a final confrontation with Soldier Boy. He gave him the gas, but still.
But yeah. Best season yet

I’m going to missJensen Ackles in this show. I doubt he’ll be back next season. It was fun seeing him let loose in a TV-MA show like this one since I’m so used to seeing him on CW.
Yeah, I’ve never been impressed with him before… HATED him on Smallville, I thought he was terrible in that My Bloody Valentine remake and I could never get into Supernatural. But Ackles was excellent in this. A perfect depiction of what a jingoistic Captain America type of “hero” would probably turn out to be.
Hopefully MM’s ex will kick that boyfriend to the curb next season (if she hasn’t done so already)

Yeah he wasn’t used to his full potential on Smallville and his role in My Bloody Valentine was meh to me. I did see streaks of Dean Winchester in him as Soldier Boy (of course not to the extent that we see in The Boys).
Yeah, I’m not sure if they are still together but if she’s still with him after what Homelander did in this episode, then there’s something wrong with her. I suppose he could lie to her and say he was appalled by what Homelander did but people like him tend not to be private about their views.
It will be interesting to see if Homelander attempts to revive The Seven. He has a lot of open slots! I suppose he could call he, A Train and The Deep The Trinity and call it a day.
Saw some interview with the cast and creator, and Kripke mentioned wanting to never have seven members in the Seven as a joke. It would be hilarious if its just 3 dudes and they still call themselves the Seven.
Amazing finale to an amazing season! This show puts out a whole season of bangers, starts really well, solidifies the season masterfully, then builds up to multiple huge things and finally finishes all of them in style. Where is the filler and weaker episodes that other shows have?
I didn't know all that much about him but had him in the ballpark of a regular TV actor, maybe a bit cheesy from some trailers I saw of him. He totally proved himself for me here though and was really great as Soldier Boy.Yeah, I’ve never been impressed with him before… HATED him on Smallville, I thought he was terrible in that My Bloody Valentine remake and I could never get into Supernatural. For a lot of cape shows the backstory episodes kill the flow or are outright bad. But the Payback episode was pretty great.
That period looks like it could have some interesting material for a Boys spin-off. I’d definitely be up for it. Would be good to see more from the young Mallory and Noir too.I wished they did a mini series on payback during the vietnam war era
that's how good that episode was imo
Would he have been as good back then? (I haven't watched Supernatural at all) He certainly seems to have what it takes now based on his showing here, no doubt at all. I'm quite surprised and very impressed with how comprehensively he embraced this role.I mean, let's be honest, My Bloody Valentine being terrible was only in small part Ackles fault. And I hardly remember him on Smallville, but I kinda checked out in the later seasons.
But he was consistently great on Supernatural, even if you didn't like the rest of the show and all its melodrama he was always the best part. Was very happy to see people get a new found appreciation for him as Soldier Boy, especially since a lot of us wanted him as Cap way back when, feels like vindication.
