Amy Adams is Lois Lane: Part 2

This is a manip of course but...

With a lil movie magic... This is childs play. I understand most of concerns with a fair skin redhead playing Lois but like someone else mentioned earlier a lil tan (or make up) and darkening of the hair and we have a great actress that can look like Lane too.

So... lemme get this straight. You're saying that in future sequels Lois might start to look aged and Superman won't? As if Lois were just a human and Superman were some sort of long lived immortal? Alien even?

That would be strange.

:whatever:

:supes: :supes: :supes:

I'm hearing from a source on a different website that Nolan had a big part in her casting because apparently Christian Bale put in a good word for her from 'The Fighter.' I would hope Lois Lane's casting is a little more complex than that.

As in just being friends with people working on the film. I seriously hope Amy has been through full auditions because just 'putting in a good word' about someone isn't enough for the perfect Lois Lane IMO.

People knew of her acting before being cast as Lois, yet she did not dominate discussion in the Lois casting thread. Obviously pre-casting people did not see her as having the look of a modern Lois.

I thought they would cast younger for the role. That's only reason I didn't bring Amy up, clearly some people don't care about the look as much as you.

Legitimate concerns.

3. May look young enough now, but if future films did happen the gap could be too pronounced with a 9 year age difference. If the second film happens and is made in 3 years...When Cavill is 32 she will be almost 40.

I don't think this is an issue at all. Movie magic will take of this plus in a movie that requires suspension of disbelief I don't think its much to ask the audience to ignore the aging of the actors/actresses playing these characters.

Also I think it would even less of an issue if there is a passage of time between the 1st and 2nd movie rather than a continuance where only less than a year has passed.

wow, this announcement really came out of nowhere for me! i was expecting someone that would not be on our radar, but Amy Adams???? i would have never really considered it (not because she's a redhead, besides, shes actually a natural blond!) i would have never thought of this choice because as others have said Rachel McAdams was being deemed too old, and frankly because while i like Amy Adams and enjoy her movies i don't find her all that interesting. if we knew they were going for a mid-thirties lois i feel like we could have had even more good options.

honestly, i'm still a bit conflicted about this casting. on the one hand Amy always does a pretty good job of bringing her characters to life, is pretty and would look nice with BLACK hair (i feel like brown would just look mousy on her), and shes classy. while i never understood the "lois can't be too hot" argument, i've also never really bought the image of lois that wears short skirts and tight unbuttoned blouses. Amy Adams i can buy as a serious professional, and someone who would earn respect.

But, on the other hand, yes, i think she is a bit too old. i think she looks great for her age, and she has features that will always give her a youthful look, but i feel she will look older than the character should when shes next to Cavill. I also don't know how their chemistry will be. Cavill is really charming and was able to bring the heat when paired with the much older Gabrielle Anwar on the Tudors, but i still can't visualize him and Amy. Also, i'll admit i watched "leap year" with her and Matthew Goode, and honestly i hope her chemistry with Henry and the way she acts as lois are better than in that movie, which some have mentioned she exhibits a lois-like attitude.

While i have no qualms about her body (besides, she'll likely be CLOTHED anyways, so any hint of leftover baby fat will be hidden under what will hopefully be CHIC office-wear), and her height is good for making Cavill seem even taller, facially i feel she is a little too sweet looking. I would have preferred someone with a little more edge, sharper features, stronger eyes, what have you, someone different looking. Amy Adams, while beautiful, is pretty darn generic. this i guess boils down to personal preference as some would probably see what i deem "generic beauty" as perfect for lois' look.

overall, i still don't know how i feel about this casting, but i am cautiously optimistic and i would love to see more manips of Amy with Black hair, possibly next to Cavill.

I can't believe that people here think that a 36+ woman can pull-off a role with a 27-year-old actor who looks like he's 24. The actual age difference is 8 years, so even if he, for argument's sake think that she looks 32 now, that still retains the 8 year gap. Plus, look at who have been cast as Cavill's parents? Diane Lane would be the youngest/youngest-looking Martha Kent ever, and Costner too. So they're going for a young CK. Is it so wrong to want a Lois who isn't so much older than the lead?

Oh wow, the jumps of logic in this post are amazing.

The Kents might not live past a flashback of his origin. Their young appearance is irrelevant.

No real argument, constructive or otherwise. Just a snide remark. Is this your idea of logic?

Well let's see. Jesus disappeared and then showed back up around 35. That's how old I like my Superman.

I guess you all need something to complain about....

No, but if you want my analysis;

"I can't believe that people here think that a 36+ woman can pull-off a role with a 27-year-old actor who looks like he's 24. The actual age difference is 8 years, so even if he, for argument's sake think that she looks 32 now, that still retains the 8 year gap."

Since when does Cavill look 24? Why pick the arbitrary age of 32? Most people who think Adams look younger thought she was 30. You specifically chose those two ages so that there would still be an 8 year difference. Which is twisting things to suit your opinion. After all, a Superman that looks 27 and a Lois that looks 30 wouldn't suit your argument.

"Plus, look at who have been cast as Cavill's parents? Diane Lane would be the youngest/youngest-looking Martha Kent ever, and Costner too. So they're going for a young CK. Is it so wrong to want a Lois who isn't so much older than the lead?"

We have no idea how the Kents will be featured in the story, or the time difference between leaving Smallville and Kent meeting Lois. And Lane could be aged through make-up.

Newsflash: The point is missed in this thread far often than any of us would desire.

:hehe:

Back to what I was saying before. It's not like it's impossible to make Adams look younger than she already does if it's really an issue for the production team.

For all we know, if they made three films, Cavill could end up looking like he aged more in comparison Adams from the first film to the third.

Okay. You want him to be 35. Brilliant, then by that logic Amy Adams is the perfect actress to portray the role, because she looks and is, in that age range. Do you think Cavill looks 35, or can pull-off 35?

That's because you fail to consider that, for some, Amy doesn't look like a 36+ year old woman. Secondly, everyone here doesn't agree that Cavill looks like a 24 year old; rather, he looks his age. At most, Amy and Cavill look 4 or maybe 5 years apart in age I think.

I actually think they look about the same age, so I can't believe people think it's an issue at all. Step back from the issue. Let go of your ego and your personal attachment to your internet argument and tell me these people do not look to be in different age groups. You can't do it.

Another thought I had. Amy Adams resembles more of an older Kate Bosworth, even more fragile. Us men wanted a sexy Lois, one that could be tough and sophisticated in both looks and personality.

Fair enough. So by your arguments, Cavill looks exactly as old as he is. And Adams looks 6 years younger than what she already is. Understood.

On the Kents, well, you analyse what you know, and we know they have been cast, and we know how both Diane Lane, and Kevin Costner look. So, that argument should not be so far-fetched.

It's really not uncommon for 36 year old women to hang around with 27 year old guys. I have a lot of female friends and *ahem* partners that have been significantly older. I'm surprised you find this so unbelieveable. This isn't a weird age difference, like one being 20 and one being 45. This is a pretty normal age gap.

No, it's a dumb point. They did this....

With make-up. I think making Amy Adams look younger, or brunette, or tan, or "prettier" is within our abilities as humans.

Isn't that what I more-or-less said?

With so many ways available to look younger these days for those with the means to do so, I don't see how Adams looking "old" will be a problem if they make more Superman films.

Then you told me, to my complete shock, that people age.
