Amy Adams is Lois Lane: - Part 5

as long as she turns in a good, non-wooden performance, i'm sure her "ginger" status will be neither here nor there with most audiences.. of course, if your frame of reference is "Smallville", then you know lana to be black-haired to begin with, and Lois as an auburn..

I'm glad a mature-age-wise actress is in the role.. Kate Bosworth was too young (early 20s at the time) to come across credibly as the mid-career veteran that Lois is/was for the continuity that Returns supposedly reflected.. (same goes for Routh as Clark)..

Lois would never wear a hat like that. This movie is going to FAIL. /sarcasm

She looks really cute, but she also looks like Amy Adams out and about, not ace journalist/reporter Lois Lane and Superman's girlfriend.

I mean... has Lois Lane's hair ever been THAT light before? In that light it almost looks a light blonde/ ginger. It's looks like her hair is alot lighter than she normally has it.

I would have been okay with a darker red. I have alot of faith in her perfromance but it's a shame they couldn't have at least tried to make her look like Lois, seeing as she really could based on manips.

I think most can share that sentiment. As it goes, hair color is one of the most easiest transformations one can enact on an actor. For an icon like Lois, it is a shame they haven't put much effort at all in transferring her physical traits. I'm not certain whether these are set shots or simply candid photos of Amy out and about, but if it's the former I am disappointed.

I once was very intrigued by Snyder's decision to step outside the proverbial box and approach the material from a new perspective. But I didn't expect him to (seemingly) ignore his greatest asset; affinity to the source, and by consequence, attention to intricate detail. He's stumbled a few times by being slavish to the books, but that was his failure as a storyteller and not as an artist's eye.

I'm still very excited for Amy's portrayal, but will still be left a bit empty that I'm simply not recognizing the Lois I'm used to seeing.

Many make the argument that there was a red haired Lois Lane in past TV shows and in some versions of comics, and the fact that in Smallville series we had a dark haired Lana Lang so it is perfectly OK to have a Lois Lane with red hair.

But they fail to acknowledge that most popular lois lane were dark haired like Magrot Kidder, Teri Hatcher, Erica Durance (I know that she was brown haired in some early episodes but she gained more popularity when she became dark haired,)

So, general audience expect a Lois Lane that is dark haired and who can look as a convincing news paper reporter, but so far Amy Adams has looked neither of the two.

I didn't know that all newspaper reporters had a specific look.

HopefulSuicide? Who is the first actress in your post discussing the different shades of red? She looked like she would have been a good Lois on Smallville. Could have actually given Lana/Kristin a run for her money.

It's Emma Stone, who will be playing Gwen Stacey.

And I only used her as she was the first dark red head I thought of as an example.

I think the manips made it worse for me.

Because we had no inkling they would go with a red headed Lois I was actually really looking forward to seeing her as a brunette - cause I think she looks hotter! Seriously, she makes a gorgeous brunette.

So it's kind of more heartbreaking.

Totally agreed, especially that last part about being left a bit empty.

It's just always gonna feel like somethings missing.

And Snyders reputation for being a slave to the source definitely heightens the shock here. I would have bet money he'd die her hair... There is still a little ridiculous part of me that won't really believe it until I see an official pic :hehe:

I didn't know that all newspaper reporters had a specific look.

I suppose there is a stereotype of suit jacket, holding out a pen and paper, with some kind of press pass clipped to your pocket :p

But no, I don't think it matters if she's wearing more casual clothes either. Especially since this is not in the office or at some offical meeting. It's an Alaskan fishing village. She wouldn't want to look out of place, whatever reason she is there.

So I'm guessing every new pic of Adams as Lois will trigger talk of hair color even if we've known that her hair will be red from the first on set photos of her.

i'll be honest i bring it up because this is the first i've seen it. the only other thing i've seen of this film so far is the supes shot at the vault

haven't really been following the news

but in fairness my exposure to the lois character comes from a handful of the lois and clark series and most of the bruce timm toons so i'm kinda bias in how i picture her look

im sure amy adams will do great in the role, which is what matters in the end. but the lighter hair doesnt work for me.

I'm beginning to think, with Lois around some of these sets that one wouldn't think she would be at, if, all pre Superman/his reveal to the world, she is travelling investigating him?

It's clear they cast Amy for her unique brand of charisma and presence. Which is why they haven't made the effort to alter her appearence accordingly. They are not bringing Lois Lane to Amy Adams, rather Amy Adams to Lois Lane.

Amy Adams will play Amy Adams. I have little hope we will see her act out of the norm like in the Fighter.

hopefully lois isn't prone to stupid mistakes like in the golden/silver-age, despite her education/intelligence..

A lot like Neeson playing Neeson in BB.

Lois Lane is red, Perry White is black, Superman is a Brit and Ma Kent is stunning...?
So, does Supes still fly or does Snyder have him crawl at super speed?

Maybe they'll go back to the 30's/40's and have him just super leap places. ANYTHING is possible in the Synder reboot.

the more and more we see of this movie, the less and less it resembles any form of superman we've seen before....and i dont mean that in a good way. im getting progressively uncomfortable with this film.

Back when casting suggestions were being made, I stated how I felt about this problem. If they cast a well known actress with an identifiable style, the problem would be exactly that... they would be too recognisable as their own style.

I was so optomistic about Amy... but them refusing to alter her hair colour does make me think they are going to encourage her to be absolutely herself. And as much as I like her, and he work, if that's the case she won't feel like Lois to me.

I'm trying to be a constant optimist... but I must admit to agreeing with the statement a bit :(

However, I will stay open minded until i've seen the film, for the most part anyway.

Even I have to admit, as much as I'm open-minded to changes, if it's as simple as just dying her hair to fit the most consistent image of the character, why not just do it. Ya know? I mean, some women color their hair every day, and Adams has had brown hair in other pictures I've seen of her. I just don't really understand the reasoning behind it.

It's not a big deal though.

I think Amy looks great, never had a problem with a redheaded Lois....

Not the end of the world those who dislike it, at the end of the day, it'll still be Lois Lane.

Not the end of the world haters so...

Just because someone has objections about her hair doesn't mean they're "haters". Christ, there is such a thing as being too much of a cheerleader.

She was filming another movie when Man of Steel started. It's since wrapped, but perhaps she couldn't change her hair because of that? Either way, it doesn't really matter.
