And the new Punisher is...

terrible choice, the dude looks to be in his mid 40's, and he seems to be going bald! Looks nothing like The Punisher!

I don't want to see Jane go, but judging by that guys acting in that video clip, I'm sold. Just make sure he grows his hair in for the role. Thanks to the person who posted it.

When did we seriously care if someone looked liek the punshier, jane does but. this is the Punshier not Superman. I could care less as long as its a good actor, which Stevenson is and a good movie. Which we are not sure off. Janes punshier was ok but the movie sucked and lacked an sort of punshiment and action compared to Ridley scott (i think or one of the scott brothers) Man of fire which was pretty much the punshier with Denzel Washington. So there you have it and I said it Denzel played a better Punshier than Thomas Jane, without been even cast as the punshier. Go figure

Jesus Christ how about you either just watch it or don't, just stop whining about it.

Marvel will get back the rights eventually, but for right now I'm very curious to see what Lexi Alexander and Ray Stevenson are going to bring to the character. As long as this film has lots of blood and violence then it's A-OK with me.

How about you let people have an opinion on something kay Stalin? :cwink:

I want Thomas Jane back. I don't mind that they're rebooting "Hulk" with a new cast and new director, but Jane to me was the definitive Punisher. He fit Tim Bradstreet and Garth Ennis's Punisher so well. It just really doesn't feel the same. I mean people don't really know this Stevenson guy unless they've seen "Rome" (which I haven't because I don't have HBO) and I think people knew Jane/liked Jane for being who he is/was.

I'd rather see this Stevenson guy be a baddie and Jane come back now that they've got a script and director laid out. Marvel will piss some fans off with this one, they've already got me pissed.

^ Colossus LGF has the Punisher rights and they're making the movie. We all know that. We also all know it's a low budget franchise at LGF and always will be as long as they have the rights. Now if we can put all of that aside the director seems like a solid choice, and the actor appears to fit the role. I don't know enough about him yet to say if he's good or bad. He could be better than Jane or much worse. None of that will matter if the movie sucks. I'm gonna give everyone the benefit here. The budget apparently won't be eaten up by actors huge paychecks like Travolta.

Let's see how it pans out. I'm not "un-sold" on this film yet.

They could cast DJ Qualls as Frank and you still wouldn't be "un-sold" on it.

Well because the studio ****ed up everything with the budget, timeframe, release date they decided to replace the director and cast. Makes sense huh?

Well yes, I knew about all of that. Lionsgate does suck and were taking way to long with the script development and finding a suitable director when they had plenty to choose from that we've mentioned on these boards before.

Still I'll miss Jane as Frank. But now watching that video from "Rome", I think this Ray guy might have potential, but still wish Jane would come back as Frank.

Jesus, have any of you doing that "Ugh, he sucks" crap even seen Rome? Obviously not, because this guy makes Jane look tiny, in scale and physical presence.

And not looking like Frank? C'mon, the guy is a soldier, not some uber-cut underwear model looking guy.

I'm not fond of the choice, but I personally think his features and age make him look a lot like the MAX version of the Punisher. Not to say LGF would ever have the gonads to make a MAX version of the Punisher...

Why not? They made The Devils Rejects?

As I've said, when it comes to horror quality material comes from Lionsgate. When it comes from other genres, not so much. And LGF hasn't shown me that they're willing to make a film hardcore that isn't something along the lines of a Rob Zombie throwback to 70's exploitation films. I just keep getting the feeling that this is a rush to make a film and not actually a process of rational thought.

Stevenson looks alot more like the type hardened criminals and gangsters would fear.

Jane was a pretty boy.

Stevenson is pure badass. He will pwn this role.

Man, you people need to settle down.
Always quick to judge.

 :down

He looks fine for the role, but I would rather see Thomas Jane come back. I'm watching the first movie now, and I think he pulls it off perfectly. I don't want to see this turn into the Batman franchise...Jane starts it out, Stevenson does the sequel, then Marvel gets the rights and releases a third movie with a third actor...

Granted, that's sort of a worst case scenario, but actor changes always bug the hell out of me.

Yeah, you're right. The Punisher is NOTHING like that.

:whatever:

Sweet, casting an older man to play Frank...since..you know Frank's technically in his 60's was a smart move.

Stevenson: DON'T GO THERE!!!!

Not the most convincing pic of Stevenson to convince people he's perfect for the Punisher

When we see him with the skull and some slicked back Frank hair, we'll probably be singing a different tune. I remember I was questioning Jane until I saw that great photo with the crossbow. Time will tell.

I somewhat agree with that statement. I'm sure once the ball gets rolling, I'll get more into it and I will go see it in theaters (if it makes it that far), but I'm still going to be pissy about TJ not playing the character.
