I knew who Rashida Jones was from the short lived show Ny-Lon with Stephen Moyer.

If they want some more diversity and supporting characters in the film they could cast Bill Foster and his wife Clarie Temple.

RDj would murder him; personality-wise. since when is Patrick Wilson a quipster? he generally plays somewhat "cardboard" individuals. it's why they chose him for 'Hard Candy.' he's just so friggin normal. Rudd isn't ideal but he generates more excitement than Patrick Wilson; i bet.

Wright said before that it would play closer to the tone of the first Iron Man movie. So it wouldn't be out-and-out comedy but still a spy action flick with elements of comedy.

I mean, there have been lots of those types of films over the years and they weren't just spoofs. True Lies would be described as an action comedy, and that still delivered. Even the earlier James Bond movies of the Roger Moore era were more comedic than the more serious ones now, and yet it still knew how to be tense and dramatic when needed.

Simon Pegg said specifically that he doesn't want to be in this movie, as he wants to enjoy it as a fan, and not as someone who has been part of the movie-making process.

All Marvel movies have comedy elements without being out and out comedies. You have even have slap stick stuff like Thor walking into doors or Iron Man crashing into his own cars.

Iron Man is one of my favourite Marvel Studios films and for me had the best balance of action and comedy in the Iron Man franchise so if Ant-Man is like that then I will be more than happy.

So Rudd, JGL and an unknown third are in the race? we all know how that will turn out, we know the game by now. they really are negotiating only with the third person (who might be a well known actor and probably the best choice) and are throwing two other random actors into this negotiation vie Deadline, Variety etc. to get a better deal (Look, if you don't want to play this role for xxxx $ and sign a 20 films contract, Rudd has told us he would do it and we hear JGLs agents are very willing to come to an agreement too). It happens all the time, especially if there is a 'third unknown actor' involved, you can be sure that this is the person they really want.

Its still possible Jamie Bell was that third actor he just didnt make any impression of Wright/Marvel

It's not like we're going to see Seth Rogen as Egghead and Jonah Hill as Egghead's minion, so I wouldn't worry about the likelyhood of this being a full comedy if Rudd and Jones are cast.

i have faith in Wright. i have just as much faith in Rudd and Jones portraying a likable couple; should they actually get cast. people should really stop worrying about the acting end of it. it's the special effects that will make or break it.

The likely guess is that they won't announce any Ant Man related casting until after Thor: The Dark World is released.

I think we'll have an announcement by the time Rudd has to go and promote Anchorman 2.
