I don't expect her to do well against someone like Brick. In fact, I'd be pretty pissed off if she did. But we aren't talking about her handling her own against him, but against the same types of people she did well against in the first two seasons (the people who make up the hired guns that Brick has).

Did anyone else catch the news report referring to Roy as Red Arrow?

I really like the idea someone had here where Oliver gets the Green Arrow name as a way if distinguishing him from Roy.

Yup totally agree. Ive been waiting to see if they were ever gonna give the Arrow the Green Arrow name. Felicity was looking extra fine this episode imo just sayin. over all it was ok I liked the whole DJ reveal but this season is no where close to as good as 1 and 2.

I wasn't a fan of this episode.

I found Oliver's recovery to be implausible. To be fair, there may be more to his recovery than what has been seen on screen. But, I don't believe that Tatsu who, from memory, has not been shown to have any medical skills in the flashbacks, could heal Oliver after he suffered multiple stab wounds and injuries from a significant fall with some secret herbs and spices.

I also found Laurel's vigilante activities to be implausible. Again, to be fair, they showed that Laurel was having a hard time living up to the Canary's reputation. But, I still found it implausible that she would go up against multiple assailants armed with guns and survive thanks to some self-defence and boxing classes. The fact that she was using Sara's fighting staff with no confirmed training in that weapon was absurd to me. I also think that she got off very lightly with just a few scratches and bruises, despite being badly beaten by brick and then jumping out of a window!

If they'd kept Laurel fighting common street thugs for the moment as she learned additional skills, then it would have been somewhat plausible. But, having her go up against Brick and his hand-picked crew who he sprung from imminent jail because of their skills in thuggery was a step too far for me.

The Merlyn and Thea scenes just don't interest me. I'm bored with Merlyn's "mystery" mission and intentions and Thea's continued ignorance about Merlyn's manipulations annoys me. After all her anger about being lied to, I'd expect her to be a bit more proactive in ensuring that she's surrounding herself by people that she can trust. I also find it hilarious that, from memory, Merlyn is surely known to most residents of the city as the master-mind behind the disaster in The Glades, yet he's freely wandering around the city without any fear of being recognised. Sure, he's presumed dead by the public (again, from memory), but running around in expensive suits, limos, etc would surely arouse the curiosity of a lot of people on the street, whether regular folk or a journalist or police officer.

She went up against a common street thug using Saras staff at the beginning of the episode, and during her first encounter with Brick and his man then she switched to the police bat. She got in the first hit on the guy when he got out of the van. But surviving guns isn't anything big, if you have to use a gun for your main defense then your basic battle skills probably aren't that great. But Brick was the only one who used his machine gun and he didn't even aim it at Black Canary, he was shooting at Arsenal.

When they got the base of operations, they once again had the element of surprise. Black Canary kicked the guy down then the other thugs didn't fire their weapons. Not to mention that Brick isn't this big martial artist, he is a thug/crime lord. The people he recruit, are not big martial artists, they are thugs/hired help. And Brick just threw her to the side their first time around, their second time, he was choking her and she only survived because she kicked him in his stones.

If she gets her Canary Cry from Star Labs she will have a huge advantage and let her do what Sara was doing with a little less martial arts skill. It will give her time to train and practice. A high sound can really be disorienting and will tip the scale in her favor. It makes sense.

I thought the same. It's just a shame that they didn't have Laurel visiting Central City for some reason when the particle accelerator exploded. They would have then had an easy explanation for the "canary cry" and with a super-power, Laurel would have had an advantage in battle against the traditionally un-powered rogues which they fight in Star City.

Laurel with the Canary Cry could have save all the Alderman......why she didn't bring along that Sonic device is a mystery could have helped!

Well unless I'm mistaken, the Sonic Device was something that came from her sister, not from Oliver's supply gear..so it's possible that there was only a limited amount of supply and that Laurel had already used all up.

there should be more at that safe house of her's (sara's) some of her luggage also that version of the cry bombs they don't act like normal bombs in that after they go off they don't exist any more. They're like the star gate concussion bomb's or grenades all she has to do is make sure she picks those things back up and not lose track of them & reuses them . yeah she just didn't think about it at that time which also shows how new at this she is . she was still recovering from being throw by brick remember arsenal was picking up from the ally way floor.

I don't think it's unreal that she survived Brick because he said (twice if I'm not mistaken) that he doesn't like to hit women. So the first time he just tossed her to the ground and the second time he said again that he didn't like it but maybe would open an exception for her (or something similar to that) so he just chocked her, but he wasn't trying to really hit or kill her, it seemed more like "get lost" from his part.

About the sonic bomb I agree, but maybe, the first time with the van she and Roy had a plan that Roy would distract them with the bomb arrows while she would open the van (that's what they tried to do) and the second time maybe it would be much noise and that would tip off the other thugs, so thought it would be better not to use it.

Remember, they made a point that they always were able to do what they do and survive because of Oliver, she they were lost and trying to find their own way of doing this on the last couple of episodes.

I was thinking about this last iht after I posted she If she had used the canary cry bombs, she might of also have stunned the captives too. if they used as as starting attack . I also doubt the brought ear plugs for those Alder men ether.
