what you are combatting is "New Toy Syndrome". A new toy comes along and the old toy that was fine one minute is now trash the next. Do we really need to see a scene where Peter makes his costume?

Or maybe - just maybe - the 2002 film wasn't perfect, and some believe this one improved upon certain aspects.

Yep, I prefer to think Pete stole the webbing and reverse engineers it, this makes the webbing more unique and not something you and I can purchase off Ebay.

i can concede that people don't all like the same thing. I am sure there are people who didn't like Avengers or TDK.
However the first 2 Spiderman movies are/were highly regarded. I liked this movie and there were somethings it did better than Raimi but lets not pretend that Raimi didn't give us 2 kick ass movies.

I think the reason ASM is 72% is because the first two Raimi are so beloved. If this were the first Spidey movie out the gate I think it would be at worst mid 80's %

I don't pretend that. Just because I mention something TASM did well doesn't mean I don't still like SM1 & 2, but it seems like I'm not allowed to side with TASM on side-by-side comparisons without being a Raimi hater.

im not saying you can't compare...and earlier discussion we had was about comparing...people are gonna compare this movie to SM1, Avengers and TDK...

they deliberately showed us him making his suit
they deliberately showed us him making the shooter
why would they not show us him making the fluid?

We see him putting down a box, pulling out a cartridge and next we see him testing the shooters.

The information we are given says he doesn't make the fluid and either stole it from Oscorp or ordered it

Woah, that's so weird! He still had them during the school fight! But, like you said, they're gone by the final...

... wait a tick. Isn't that a screenshot from the fight against the NYPD? Can't be, because like you said, the gashes were gone by the final battle, and that was right before then.

Those first 3 are all of the same fight...the school fight. That happens just right after Lizard scratches Peter in the sewer. The school to find Peter is the very next place Lizard goes. That final pic, the NYPD scene right before the final battle, does not have the gashes running across the suit...hence my point.

Have I said this was the perfect movie? People have listed many points that I let pass. Yours wasn't one of them. Or am I not allowed to defend my favorite version because it's the new one?

The thing I hated was the random dumb things they added in. The basketball dunking scene was dumb, the crane scene was stupid, throwing the football and bending a goal post? The ball would burst open before it ever had the force to bend a goal post. The lizard rat looked awful.

I think they got Connors look wrong as well. He looked way too creepy to begin with. And they tried to address too many things at once (the parent mystery, Uncle Ben death, responsibility, Gwen, etc...) Raimi's origin got the Ben/May relationship much better. But Garfield was pretty good.

not everyone who liked TASM are Revisionist Raimi Haters(TM). However there are some. It happens. I happened when Nolan took over Batman and the Burton films were now considered crap. It will happen when the new Bat series is announced.

I also liked how Gwen was like TEEHEHEHEHEHE when Peter said that behind her in class. I guess she loved and respected her dad so much that she chooses a guy she has known for a few weeks over her dead father's wishes.
