Assassin´s Creed III - Part 1

Yeah, I think it was mentioned to Desmond in one of the first two games that Eagle Vision was a "gift" that Assassin's had. However, I don't know about the climbing and stuff. I mean it was shown that Ezio and his brother liked to scale buildings as a hobby, so maybe that's somewhat of an added ability too.

The fact that your hired assassins in Brotherhood can do all the monkey-climbing and parkour stuff indicates that it's a shared trait among assassins, not just something Ezio did in his spare time.

Alright despite playing a decent portion of AC2 i'm wondering if being an assassin grants you special physical powers or are they just very well trained? Watching the way ezio and especially videos of connor now they sort of move more like superheroes do instead of normal humans.

The parkour is a learned skill but the assassins like Ezio, Altair and Desmond are Hyprids of the first civilazation and what we know as humans today. They've lost some of the ability they once had over the generations but some of it is still present.

True, although now I'm beginning to think it had more to being trained than natural ability. I man the hired assassin's were just regular people. Plus, the thieves and mercs would follow you up buildings too, so I don't think it was something Assassins were born with.

Yeah, I saw that news. Very exciting. With Ubisoft's creative control, and a great actor like the Fass, this *migh* break the game-to-movie curse.

If it ever happens, I do hope it's good. I wonder if it'll be Desmond or a new Assassin.

"Plot revolves around a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts."

If time travel is involved, then it's already been ruined.

Pretty sure that description is just from a Variety journo who has never played the game and has no clue what it's really about.

My take on it is that Fass plays Des, and you might even get to see Altair, Ezio AND Connor do their parts in an episodic, um, epic. Either that, or they're planning to trilogy it, and "AC" is just that --- the original AC game.

Yeah, I don't think they did too much research about the games for that article. They said the third AC games was going to be released this year, when it's more like the fifth, at least in terms of consoles.

Yea but its still the 3rd numbered title, so they aren't wrong. The previous two were just unnecessary filler until 3 was ready to be revealed.

this always made me wonder, have they ever explained why eagles are associated with the Assassins ( with the eagle vision and all )?

I just thought that, if they used any kind of bird, ravens/crows would seem to be a better fit for assassins........

Eagles are more majestic i guess?

yeah......but I'd associate eagles more with the Knight Templars (even though they are the bad guys.....lol).

ravens/crows are more crafty and that fits assassins more, imo..........but I'm biased, of course.....:o

He does technically travel in time, though. His mind, not his body, but still. Oh, and Fassbender as the main character equals pure awesome. I might have to see the movie now...

Yea i see what ur saying, but ravens and crows tend to symbolize evil or darkness. We are playing from the perspective of the Assassins, and from that point of view, we are the good guys. Good guys tend to not be associated with ravens. Its really a no brainer as to why they'd use the eagle over the raven. Raven = bad, eagle = good.

True, but it just sounds like something that someone who isn't really familiar with the franchise would say.

Eagles have always been known to have both spiritual and philosophical significance and symbolism. Here's something I found online that kind of sums it up.
http://www.eaglespiritministry.com/works/ese.htm

"The Eagle represents spiritual protection, carries prayers, and brings strength, courage, wisdom, illumination of spirit, healing, creation, and a knowledge of magic. The eagle has an ability to see hidden spiritual truths, rising above the material to see the spiritual. The eagle has an ability to see the overall pattern, and the connection to spirit guides and teachers. The eagle represents great power and balance, dignity with grace, a connection with higher truths, intuition and a creative spirit grace achieved through knowledge and hard work."

And for Native American cultures, which fits in with ACIII:

"Eagle represents a state of grace that is reached through inner work, understanding and passing the initiation tests that result from reclaiming our personal power. Eagle Medicine is the Power of the Great Spirit. It is the spirit of tenacity. It is the gift of clear vision with which one can truly see the things one sees. It is the patience to wait for the appropriate moment. It is to live in balance with heaven and earth. Eagle reminds us of our connection with the Great Spirit. It tells us that the universe is giving us the opportunity to fly above our life's worldly levels, or above the shadow of past realities. Eagle teaches us to look above in order to touch Grandfather Sun with our heart, to love the Shadow as much as the Light. Eagle asks us to grant ourselves permission to be free in order to reach the joy that our heart desires."

I think Assassin's Creed II dealt more with the spiritual aspects both with the Ancient Civilization, as well as how Ezio was sort of a prophet who served to connect the dots between the past and future.

yeah.......but it would have been kind of cool if they reversed the traditional "roles" of the birds.

instead of being bad, ravens would good (associated with Assassins), and eagles would be bad (associated with Templars).

and ravens, too, have deep spiritual significance/symbolism, and they act as a prophet role, too, bridging past, present, future.........

Right but none of that matters when the first thing that the avg individual thinks of when you mention raven or crow, is evil or darkness.

:waa:

but, at least I'm getting an assassin named Corvo in Dishonored, even though it's kind of a let down he can only summon rats and not a flock of ravens........:o

Yeah, Raven are more associated with death and war, not to mention they sort of resemble crows, and there's already The Crow, so it would be weird. Not to mention, Assassins wear white not black.

at least they didn't associate Assassins with........the pigeon.........lol

Fun little fact - Ben Franklin was against choosing the eagle for the national bird. He wanted thought the turkey was a far more majestic choice.
