Assassin´s Creed III - Part 1

I say, why make it What If? If they have a cool idea, make it canon. AC is science fiction, they get poetic license

Well in a game where so much of the experience is engaging story, 'What If?' just seems entirely redundant.

Little torn now. Gamestop is having a special to get $40 in-store credit for a specific 2 games on their list. I was planning to get Skyrim with it as I loved Morrowind. This game looks great though but I've never played an AC game before. Skryim is a safe buy but ACIII seems like it'd be fun without the huge time investment Skyrim needs. Hmm...

If you've waited this long to play Skyrim, you may as well wait a little longer for the GOTY Edition.

I considered that too, thanks for the advice. Think I'll try something new. It'll give me 2 weeks to get done with Dishonored then I can move straight into ACIII.

look at the picture he has the POE, i think by the ending he gets it and does the right thing , or does he?

I'm down for it just because of how awesome this picture is.

From somebody like me, not involved in the Assassins' creed overall story, that DLC is incredibly appealing. I play Assassin's for the really fun gameplay, the story is just a bonus. They can also still make a very interesting story that doesn't necessarily coincide with the canon story. I mean, I can see your point, it just doesn't bother me, particularly.

Damn i cant wait for this game. The hype is becoming too much to handle. Save for Hitman, theres no other title im looking as forward to in the next 12 months. Which is crazy to me after the sheer boredom i felt after Revelations.

I'm liking everything I'm seeing so far, but I also wanna see Desmond. I'll definitely be doing a replay of the series, considering this is the big conclusion to this story.

Ubisoft like to get their history pretty accurate, it's only the present that is f'd up. If it were to happen after he leaves office and he tries to retake control, that would be better. Otherwise, yeah, I'm not interested.

The more of these little snippets I see just makes me feel like there's so much more to this game than we've seen. Although I will admit that the lack of Desmond news worries me a bit. Either his part is so awesome that they don't want to spoil it, or it's so minimal and lacking that they don't want to kill the hype behind the game.

Theyve said explicitly that that do not want to reveal any Desmond info at all but that it is substantially more Desmond gameplay than ever before

Thats the only thing that could derail this game for me. The Conner stuff looks so damn awesome im afraid as soon as the desmond stuff pops up ill just be counting the seconds until i get back to the Conner stuff. Its been like that for me in all the past AC titles, i just want to get back to playing as Altair or Ezio.

As long as it's not the same first-person stuff from Revelations, I'm good.

But you bring up a good point Pat, and something I was wondering about earlier. As good as the game looks now, is there anything that would ruin it significantly? Would it be a poor story or resolution for Desmond? Outdated or repetitive controls and gameplay? Short story mode?

Totally agree. I think the sci-fi element is really cool in theory, but the execution on that stuff is so poor. Every second I'm playing as Desmond, I'm just thinking, "Okay Ubisoft, I get it. Now when I can get back to the good part?"

Yea, which is why im dreading "more Desmond than ever before". This game has me hooked because of the setting and the new lead and the new gameplay advancements, not because of what it means for Desmond.

Well i highly doubt any of that happens, so realistically the only thing im worried about is too much Desmond. Its been by far the weak link in this series to this point and they're saying we will get more. Like Soapy stated i think its how they go about handling it. Maybe the way its weaved into the story it wont have you chomping at the bit to get back to Conner.

First Desmond Photo Revealed.

I think you guys are crazy, the desmond stuff has always been great (except for perhaps, the weird platforming stuff in Revelations).

Alex Hutchinson said it'll be more like the Brotherhood components but more significant and unique and definitely satisfying.

So the idea of some modern day clue finding, especially if it's linked into things we've found out in Connors story, is very intriguing. I mean, you can't ignore how important the link is. I mean, the very fact that we are GOING to Connor's memories at all means there is some mystery that Desmond and co. need to solve. That in itself has me interested to see where Desmonds adventure goes.

Yeah, I agree on Desmond's story being appealing.

Also, anyone else notice Connor fighting Patriots at the end of the trailer? I also have a feeling, he was talking to Washington there.

ok on the Desmond, I think it was on gt. tv I believe that they said their holding of any info but they do have surprises where he's involved as they told Geoff K. and they 'll tell us when it's closer to launch that was 3 to 4 weeks ago. I didn't put it up cause I was kinda busy and thought some else would have put that up. But any way we won't hear much on des til some time next year.
