Good news on Desmond, really enjoyed his side of the story in Brotherhood.

Yeah, but without free roam, Desmond's story always suffered from on-rails syndrome. I've played AC1 thru ACB, but haven't played ACR yet...did they actually give Desmond something more to do there than wander around yet another empty set? I honestly couldn't find anything to do in Desmond's set-pieces at Abstergo, Monteriggioni, the modern Colosseum or anywhere else that amounted to little more than cutscenes that gave you the illusion of participation by letting you "push any button" every now and then to advance the scene.

No. All you can do is wander on a very little island and do some mirror edge type of plateform.

So isn't it a good thing if we're being told we get a much bigger emphasis on Desmond than before in previous games?

Also, since you didn't play ACR, it ends with some very significant stuff that Desmond has to do in modern day that we will obviously get to play through.

Desmond's sections were the worst in ACR. It was a a first person puzzle which looked reminiscent to Portal

I read an article today, where hutchinson confirmed the story was always supposed to be a trilogy (Brotherhood and Revelations being some kind of expansions). ACIII being the last part of Desmond story, I'm glad to know we'll see a lot of him. He's supposed to become the ultimate assassin after all.

It's a good thing if Desmond finally gets some real interaction and free-roam, instead of just being a pawn wandering through an on-rails "press any button" Dragon's Lair-type scenario. ;)

Well like I said, if the ending of ACR is anything to go by, I think we may get a Desmond section that plays out kinda like Uncharted. I would love some free roam stuff with him too. Also, since the war between Abstergo and Assassins is coming to a head, I could see the Assassin Brotherhood meta strategy game come into play in modern times.

Ubisoft, Gametrailers sued in Assassin's Creed copyright infringement case

American author John Beiswenger has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Ubisoft and Gametrailers that claims the Assassin's Creed franchise stole core ideas from Beiswenger's novel, Link. Link was published in 2002 and the first Assassin's Creed game dropped in 2007.

Beiswenger claims the Animus in Assassin's Creed is a direct copy of his Link device, which allows users to access ancestral memories and relive specific moments in history, much as the Animus does. Beiswenger says his novel discusses "assassinations" and has "spiritual and biblical tones" also found in Assassin's Creed. And then there's the battle between good and evil that Beiswenger says Assassin's Creed stole right from the pages of Link.

Beiswenger is suing Gametrailers for the Assassin's Creed trailers that he says infringe on the same Link copyright. There are 11 counts against Ubisoft and Gametrailers in total, and only most of them made us laugh.

Beiswenger is seeking up to $5.25 million in damages and a cessation of further copyright infringement. We're pretty sure that second part is already happening, so perhaps Beiswenger will get something out of all this paperwork after all.

Assassin's Creeds concept isn't an original idea anyway. This guy needs to get over himself. And why is Gametrailers being pulled into this?! What a damned idiot.

lol, it's hardly original indeed. The guy is pissed off because they used the good VS evil thematic... Give me a break!

I bet it's news to Gametrailers too. what ?? We're being sued???? I'll wait to see if it's a typo or if this person sueing really is that stupid. Bet he doesn't even what/ who Gametrailers were til that.

I agree AC's animus isn't an original idea in fact I could think of many machines in sci-fi that allowed someone to relive memories. That lawsuit is laughable and he should be getting sued from the person he stole his "Link" idea from.

This won't go far in the courts if Gametrailers were smart they'd counter sue his dumb ass

Case will definitely get thrown out of court with no merit. But in the meantime, this hoser and his lawyers are issuing a cease & desist against Ubisoft on AC3, and that will be effin' outrageous if development is forced to stop because of this a-hole.

Yeah, especially considering the caliber of lawyers Ubisoft can afford compared to this random guy, they might even try to scare him away by threatening to sue him for filing a frivolous/meritless lawsuit

Wait he's trying to claim that the use of a "good vs evil" plot is part of the reason why he's suing? Wouldn't that mean he basically wants to sue every piece of fiction ever?

No, he was claiming that AC stole the idea for the Animus and for an eternal war between Assassins and Templars and a clash of religions from his novel.

...Except for the fact that his novel contains none of that stuff, and the fact that his "novel" is a self-published treatise only available online that was likely "read" only by in-laws and acquaintances he pestered.

Maybe we'll get a sequel to AC3 similar to AC:B that's take place during that war?

That's what I'm betting.

Just as ACB and ACR moved Ezio's story to Rome and Istanbul in later years, I'd be willing to bet that Connor's story continues in spinoffs involving the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars.

So these games have been around for what 5 years now and he is finally coming out with a lawsuit, pathetic. I can't remember where but I saw some new pictures and one was Connor hunting a deer like the raptors in The Lost World, it looked amazing

I hope that doesn't happen. Not because I don't think Connor would be a good character, but because that would mean the next protagonist would be related to Desmond. I want them to introduce completely new characters and only slightly mention previous events. I just feel like that would be a really cheap way to keep us playing as Connor.

I'm gonna go ahead and say we are going to witness all that need to be seen out of Connor up until his death in this game, seeing as how this will be the last game in the 'Desmond Trilogy'. After this one, they're just gonna go on to another story. All the memories he has been reliving have been leading up to whatever happens on 12/21/12. Once that happens, what further use will we have for Connor's memories?

this, I'm almost certain that there won't be any connor based spin off from this. there's really just no need, especially at the expense of seeming cheap...

There really wasnt a need for Ezio or Altair to get so many sequels as well but they did. Cash >>> any need to seem cheep when it came to how Ubisoft handled the series. I dont see why they would be above doing the same with Connor now
