Assassin´s Creed III - Part 1

The weird thing is that his changes actually change and do a disservice to his characters. I don't disagree that he has a right to change whatever he wants, but in the end it doesn't necessarily make it a good decision or a stronger film. In fact most of the changes he made either ruin a great character moment (greedo shooting first makes Han's character less of a badass and less of a dangerous character, Vader yelling no instead of the silence where you can picture the turmoil in his thought process) or take you out of the film (stupid terrible CG establishing shots). I really just wish he would release the original versions alongside the 'real' versions just to appease the majority of Star Wars fans who loved the tangibility of the original versions, which really is part of the reason they were so great. In the end, Lucas just proved that he has lost whatever made him a great artist when he made American Graffiti and Star Wars.

I mostly agree with this however I don't think Lucas has lost anything the CW series is pretty awesome. If fans were really upset they could just stop buying these special releases. Getting to back ACIII for a second if they do a DLC could they please give me the Napoleonic Wars. I would love to give that midget a kick to the head.

I'd actually like an AC series based on the Assassin that assists the Count of Monte Cristo in the novel (which could encompass the Neapolitan War AKA Hundred Day War) - so I'm all for that being covered.

Also CW doesn't have a Star Wars series.

I think when he's saying "cw" he means the clone wars 3D animated series (that's aired almost any where depending if the those other tv networks feel like airing it, other wise it's on the CT network and sci -fi channels thing ) and not the tv network owned by Warner Bro's . Assisting Count of Monte Cristo sounds interesting though. But seeing that he's not a real historical figure not likely.

Ah ok, that makes sense.

What if the main character IS the Count of Monte Cristo? After all, Altair, Ezio and Connor weren't historic figures. Just like them, Edmond Dantes was surrounded by actual historic figures and historic events. In the first one, he might not BECOME an Assassin until nearing the end of the game (like ACII), and his Assassin counterpart from the book could be assisting him in a similar fashion to Uncle Mario did in ACII.

It would be a bold move, but the series might be in need of a change in style with how the whole "End of World" plot is coming to a close. After all, The Count of Monte Cristo is in the public domain.

hmmm while it would be interesting there's the issue of getting to rights(if you can afford to do so). and most video game companines will a avoid that since this a book character your borrowing from. I'm not saying it's not doable I just don't know how likely it'll be. Now if the "count" was like the historical characters it will be more doable as you play as a character that meets/interacts with him, like the others . But since he's not you'd still have to deal with that but it's better then the character your playing as be the said count. if it can be done as an allegory it's possible though.

I think that's a bad idea.

I mean, I love Count of Monte Cristo and I love Assassins Creed, but they are already two separate things, let them stay that way. I mean sure, AC can be influenced by it (in fact, I would say there are aspects to Ezio's character that already channel Edmond Dantes a little bit) but to have him as a character would just be silly. I mean, you may as well have The Man with No Name a playable Assassin in an AC game, or Tom Cruise's character in The Last Samurai... or Russell Crowe in Gladiator.

Also I don't think Ubisoft would EVER do that, not when they pride themselves on making their own carefully crafted characters and trying to make the series grounded in history, not literature.

That's also part of why I keep saying it's not likely.

Yes, I gathered as much Zenith... You know, when you said that twice :P

As I mentioned earlier, Count of Monte Cristo is in the public domain and no one owns the rights.

Oh, I don't think it'll happen at all (for the reasons you mentioned) - I'll say this though, Count of Monte Cristo is different than the film characters you mentioned, as the character of the Count himself is apart of history.

I mean it wouldn't be too hard to force - after all, Machiavelli's "The Prince" is about a fictional character based on actual historic figures (including Cesare Borgia), and in AC II it says that Ezio is the person whom the book is referring to.

I think you're bang on with the last point though. Ubi loves creating their own characters - there is still a way to make him their own though. The book itself doesn't even tell us much about the Count. Really, it's just the first 10-15% of the book and the last 15% of the book. Everything in the middle is from the perspective of others and the Count comes off as a complete mystery.

They could explore his worldly travels, his past (prior to the visit to Elba), what happened during the Hundred Day War, etc. His interactions with historic figures...

I think the odds of this happening are slim to none, but if you've read the book I'm sure you'd agree it would be an incredible game if handled correctly!

I have read it and agree, I just don't think it needs to be Assassins Creed.

Uhhh...MP achievements.

They dont look that bad honestly but I dont like achievements for multiplayer ever.

Either way I gots to keep my streak going. 100% across all Assassin's Creed console games.

The achievements for the game are out. There seems to be ALOT to do in this game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/assassins-creed-3/achievements/

So at least three of the minigames are fanorona, nine men's morris, and bowls. The first two are board games on a similar layout to the Japanese game of go, and bowls is, well, bowls...like lawn bowling or bocce.

Also looks like Franklin *will* play a Da Vinci role here, even though I believe Ubisoft was originally trying to deny/downplay that.

A couple of possibly new locations revealed through the chieve-list, too: Fort Wolcott was in Rhode Island, and "the mystery of Oak Island" is *possibly* the famous Money Pit in Nova Scotia. Which would be a blast. :)

They all seem to be in line with the rest of the trophies/achievements for the AC games.

The MP doesn't look too bad though, which was my favorite thing about Revelations because I actually got all those trophies easily and it was fun to play even without trying to get trophies, whereas Brotherhood I just hate. The multiplayer is what's keeping me from getting the platinum and its a prime example of what I hate about MP trophies. I'm learning to accept that they are part of gaming now because it's a way of getting players to try it out, but I hate when you're forced to do things cooperatively online because I rarely play online, let alone with others. Ive always preferred the single player experience, so to have to rely on others to help me get trophies just isn't what I want to do when I play a game.

so have they said if they've improved the combat?

in past games, when you were engaging multiple opponents, it felt like they would attack you one at a time, with the others standing around to wait their turn, which felt kind of unrealistic.

I'm hoping in this game, the enemies will come at you all over, at the same time, forcing you to attack, dodge, and counter more fluidly.

Thats exactly how it was in the last few games. Id always have dudes try to take shots at me while i was attacking someone else.

Not sure how the combat is supposed to be this go round. I believe there is supposed to be a more fluid combat system though.
