You know what else had Fassbender? Jonah Hex. Did you see it?

This reminds me of the people who said "Afflek sucked in Daredevil!" to try to prove that he would suck as Batman. Fassbender and Affleck have bad movies in their resume. There is no denying that fact. Most actors have at least one bad film in their resumé. But Fassbender and Affleck have more than proven themselves.

There could be problems with this film, but I'm pretty sure that Fassbender won't be a problem. At the very least, I think he will deliver a performance as good as his performance in the X-men films. And since he has worked and succeeded with this director previously we know they are capable of working well together.

I mean...he might suck in Batman. We haven't seen it yet.

Also, Ben Affleck was the one that said he'd never do another comic book superhero movie again and said he hated Daredevil.

Which is why he had Goyer dumped and the script rewritten as soon as stepped on set.

Goyers not dumped he's got screenplay and or writing credit for BVS.

And it wasn't just Daredevil. He was awful in a bunch of films. Gigli, Reindeer Games, Armageddon, Sum of All Fears, Pearl Harbor, etc.

Why are we dragging a Batfleck debate into this thread? Fassbender status and ability to pick projects today is in far higher standing than it was in 2010. It was an idiotic comparison to begin with.

Wait, people are questioning Michael Fassbender on a film he is staring in and producing, that is being directed by Justin Kurzel; who's first two films are critically acclaimed. If you haven't seen either Snowtown murders or Macbeth, any negative light you're hanging on this project, is towards the genre itself and not the filmmakers.

Sum of All Fears is a very good movie. Better than Hunt for the Red October even. It's too bad it's really been overlooked.

I would rank it 4th in the series.

1. Hunt for Red October
2. Clear and Present Danger
3. Patriot Games
4. Sum of All Fears
5. Shadow Recruit

LOL at people critiquing Fassbender's early Hollywood work. They were small roles and his career just began to gain momentum with Hunger, you can't blame him for attempting to make a splash in Hollywood with those minor roles.

Now that he is very established in Hollywood - allowing greater choice in film roles, his taste has proven to be impeccable. Even with a solid career, he still continues to take major risks with each film project. And largely, those risks have paid off.

Also, I do not see many similarities in Affleck and Fassbender's careers.

Just because he has writing credit doesn't mean any of his script was actually used. There's a weird WGA arbitration clause that gives the first writer credit, even if the writers after him/her scrapped their draft.

Terrio's BvS rewrite was allegedly so good WB commissioned him to write Justice League by himself. So... make of that what you will.

I doubt Fassbender has the kind of pull Affleck does in terms of bringing on writers. But he has Justin Kurzel and a killer supporting cast...

Talented British up and coming actor Callum Turner (Glue, BBC's War & Peace) talked a little about this movie on the show Sunday Brunch.

Brian Gleeson plays the younger version of his fathers character and Javier Bardem's brother Carlos Bardem is in the movie as well.

Doesn't mean anything - it's done all the time by big studios. They enlist writers to do another instalment (in this case, it's another entry in the DCEU), even before they hear about the picture's critical reception. This was the same case with Orci and Kurtzman being enlisted to write TASM3 months prior to TASM2's release. We all know how that turned out.

Time will only tell if it was the right decision. And if the film is received negatively/mixed, you can bet your butt that WB will be changing their game plan (either a new writer, director, etc.).

I stopped reading after you name dropped Orci & Kurtzman... it may seem that way on paper, but Affleck is choosing his projects carefully. WB could have chosen another writer to do the rewrite on BvS, but Affleck brought in Terrio.

I don't think the studio would put Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman into production in quick succession if they didn't think BvS was going to be a hit.

It will certainly be a financial success, there are no two ways about it.

Eh, doesn't change the principle. The reality is studios do this all the time with better writers, and we don't even need to mention Orci and Kurtzman. For all we know Terrio is a writer that makes WB happy and carries out their vision. How he carries out their vision (and Snyder's which is shaky as is) remains to be seen but Affleck bringing him in may not be much difference if this movie isn't good.

It's possible it will take Gambit's October 2016 spot since this wrapped and that one hasn't even started filming.

If they are smart that's what they will do. Putting this up against Star Wars Rogue One in December would be suicidal.

Yeah, it'll be a while before you can be comfortable releasing a Sherlock Holmes to SW's Avatar.
