This Batman has to be a 'solo act' for the same reason he can't have already fought the likes of Joker, etc.; the second you introduce anything that would decrease his chances of remaining completely off the radar, you introduce contradictions in terms of how the public reacted to Clark in MoS.
Everyone is fixated on this idea that he has to have been fighting crime for many years in order to justify his being in his 40s, but if he kept himself in peak physical condition even before taking up the cowl, he very well could have started his career as a vigilante in his mid to late 30s and still be in his 'prime' for years to come.
