Avatar: The Legend Of Korra - Part 1

Perhaps by being the Avatar equivalent of Osama?

Not to get too off subject, but Osama is hardly equal to Hitler in terms of villainy, or place in history. He didn't conquer entire countries, exterminate millions, etc.

Thus far Amon is basically the leader of a radical political movement. But what they've done has been fairly tame. Ozai wanted to (and nearly did) wipe out the entire Earth Kingdom. Really, the only villain worse than Ozai is his genocidal grandfather, who actually did wipe out the entire airbending race (save Aang obviously). So, it'll be a while before he's in their league.

Awesome episode. I was hoping to see Tenzin kick some major ass or Korra enter the Avatar State. But the ending we got was just as good.

I just can't see how they are going to wrap up this story in five episodes. Amon's showdown with Korra better blow our minds.

That's more about evilness; which is certainly one measure of being a villain. However, other yardsticks include how much of a foil they are to the hero, how manipulative they are or how many victories they score (double points if versus the hero). And in those regards, Ozai was less effectual as a villain since for all his potential and capacity for cruelty, we never see him succeed once ascending to the throne. The biggest Fire Nation victories shown were the capture of Omashu and Ba Sing Se. While we don't know much about the former, the latter was almost entirely of Azula's doing with no contribution from Ozai. Yes, he intended, planned and attempted to wipe out the entire Earth Kingdom but his forces were stopped almost as soon as they hit landfall.

Just finished watching this week's episode. Not surprised it turned out the way it did. I had that Sato pegged from the get-go. It was nice to see Asami take the route of the good-guy though.

I thought we'd get some Avatar State in this episode though. Oh well. Can't wait to see Chief Beifong 'operate outside the law' haha. The 'Kick-Ass' meter should be ratcheted up astronomically in the coming weeks. Can't wait.

spider-lin
spider-lin
everything she does is made of win
bend some steel
pain you'll feel
look out, here comes the spider-lin

Speaking of Lin. You just have to love her retractable boots and that she closes her eyes when she earthbends.

Ha, I know, it was cool to see her using the barefoot stomp to see like Toph always did.

It will be nice if we get to see some actual earth-bending from her now that she has basically said she is going vigilante.

It was nice to finally see Tenzin do something as well. Might not have been a real lot, but, slowly but surely, he is realizing he has to fight. So that was good too. They have a lot to do in the remaining episodes. It should only get better

Another great episode. Beifong has become a favoite of mine. I thought Tenzin was seriously gearing up to unleash hell when he started Air-Wheeling. Unfortunately, he was knocked out. Bolin was hilarious as usual, and I'm so proud of Asami. When she knocked out the Lieutenant I cheered!

It will be interesting to see what Tarrlok does now that Beifong will resign. I wonder if she'll take any of her men with her (that would be cool. They seem to have a personal allegiance with her).

I agree with a previous poster who said even though Amon wasn't in this episode, you can just FEEL his presence. He is indeed a great villain and I think I like him better than Ozai (still love Ozai for the series he was in). That's why I hope they don't tie up Amon's plot/identity by the end of this season. I really want him to carry through til the end of the Korra series. Unless, of course, he's replaced with an even better villain. But we won't know until that person is introduced.

Anyone else ready for some Zuko?

Plus she had the stones to take out her own dad, that is almost more impressive, imo.

"Don't forget about Master Pabu."
"Wouldn't dream of it, sir."

"Yeah, just stay put until the chief comes back. That sounds very familiar, doesn't it?Why?Because you said it."

I wasn't a fan of Sokka, but Bolin is awesome.

Sokka by the end of the series may have been my favorite besides Aang. I was always a fan of Iroh as well.

Bolin's growing on me each episode. The butler's face after bolin jumped back into the pool after being dried off was hilarious.

See, I liked Azula, Toph and Zuko where more than Aang or Sokka. Iroh was great though.

Azula's descent into madness was amazing to watch. I just finished watching the original series again earlier today.

I just can't wait for next week's episode. I wonder if it will get leaked lol

So, Tarrlock...Amon? There's a connection there. He's a suspect to me.

Well when Korra went to meet up with Amon for their little midnight showdown Tarrlok was with Tenzin, unless he found an excuse to slip away.

I doubt it. It's not like you can't have two unconnected antagonists. If you consider Tarrlock to be an antagonist.

I am actually surprised that we have yet to see a bending supremacist. Season 2 villain maybe?

Damn. I didn't realize that there were only 5 episodes left this season. I see how they could build it up a bit, but I think they'd need more time for the Korra/Amon showdown so that Amon doesn't look too bad.

Maybe Amon does the unthinkable. He becomes a martyr to destroy the Avatar. Maybe not physically but the reputation and symbol of the Avatar takes a nosedive after what Amon tries.

This World needs more Spin-off Expanded Universe type fiction. I am already thinking of a noir criminal story about a non-Bender Gumshoe type detective.
